Terrible in terms of fighting for championships and wins, but I'm really proud that in almost every race we could fight for solid points (except Singapore and Abu Dhabi), so if that consistency will be carried into 2010 season, I will be more than happy. Of course I hope F2010 will be closer to the top, maybe even the fastest car, so again with 2 very good drivers we will fight for wins and titles up.gif.

"We"? I always thought that sounded very silly. You took the decision?
Anyway, what I am trying to say, if the chmapionship had started in Silverstone, Kimi would be leading, or almost leading. He is driving to help Ferrari to be third in WCC. Then they give Fisi the new stuff. You think Kimi will feel motivated to help Ferrari? Honestly, I would park the car and give them the finger.

Thanks to God, you will never drive a F1 car... down.gif

Ferrari: Diffuser row costly for team

"It was blocked, and that is why we said we don't have to do work here, because it will not carry on next year. That is why, looking at the numbers we have in the wind tunnel, I am positive now. With my feet on the ground - but for sure positive."

I don't quite buy that part, but interesting article/speculation on the 661 nonetheless.

Obviously, but it shows how much they care about this years WCC. Should Kimi care then?

How was testing 2010 parts related to winning the 2009 WCC? I really fail to see the connection here... Why would testing parts of a car he will never drive somehow motivate Kimi to drove faster????????

You are a week late and a dollar short smile.gif
Had you read the rest of the thread you would have noticed that I thought they let Fisi race with a better car, in spite of relying on Kimi to bring home the points for the WCC. That would have been a weird decision. It turned out Fisi was just testing parts during practice.

The car can't be wider there is a fixed width that all cars must match. (1.8m)

I think you are talking about wheel width and Massa was talking about bodywork shape/dimensions.

A British media source says Ross Brawn has indicated his 2010 F1 car will feature a Red Bull-style high nose, while reports in the Italian press say the new Ferrari - internally codenamed the 661 - will have a Brawn-like low nose.

Fernando Alonso will be able to attend the Ferrari World Finals in Valencia this weekend, after the Renault team allowed the Spaniard to be at the event with his new team.

Alonso, who will drive for Ferrari from next season, was in doubt for the Spanish event as he still has contractual obligations with Renault.

However, the two-time champion will finally be able to attend the event.

Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali was thankful to Renault for the gesture.

"We are pleased that Fernando will be able to attend what, for us, is a very important event," said Domenicali.

"It will be a great opportunity for all our fans who will be able to give him a warm welcome and for Fernando, who, for the first time, will be able to see and experience an insider's view of the world of Ferrari.

"I wish to thank the Renault F1 Team for making it possible for Fernando to be in Valencia; a generous gesture which is much appreciated."

The Ferrari World Finals, the event which traditionally brings the Maranello squad's racing season, takes place this weekend at the Ricardo Tormo circuit.

IIRC, it was the opposite. Since Ferrari had figured out that the RBR style had more potential for development.

I would think that because Ferrari actually tested an RBR style "nose" they would go with that concept and go with the undercut sidepods and diffuser direction of Brawn.

I can't imagine the bodywork being "wider" but maybe that is what it is
MichaelPM
Very simplified logic. Brawn had the superior engine so RBR must of had the better package to compete with them, sometimes even without the DDD.

Did Ferrari ever run a DDD all season? If they did redesign the whole rear for a DDD they where still compromised by designing with KERS, either way they where impressively strong for being so compromised and now they are combining that know-how to a more focused and optimal package.

Ferrari not being competitive next year just seems an impossibility right now.

Somewhere they need to accommodate the larger fuel tank. More precisely other things, that were mounted where the larger fuel tank will be installed might be moved outwards. Since we are talking about 100 liter bigger tank than this season, this will take up some space.

Hopefully they are competetive.

But if you read the Bridgesyonme article at formula1.com, things are not that easy. Bridegstone was last seasin being requested to provide more differing tires. They achieved that by making tires work in different temperature range. So this issue hasn't changed. We saw this year how different teams had better races at some tracks, while it was more difficult for them at others. With the ban of refueling the differences might get even bigger next year, because of weight difference from end to start of the race. That's certainly a challenge for all teams.

But nevertheless, with DDD being fully integrated Ferrari should do better.
WebBerK
The main challenges Ferrari is gonna face in 2010.

> New driver: Alonso.
> Driver's ego battle: Alonso vs Massa.
> Engine's fuel consumption [higher than the average]
> New aero concept: RBR higher nose.
> Make the tires work.

I might add Domi think engine freeze development and no tests during the season are ridiculous. I think when Todt became president we will hear about changes in this areas.

I dont blame him. The Ferrari engine is thirstier than the Merc, and with no fuel stops allowed in 2010 the weight penalty (and no doubt design penalty for a larger tank than their competitors) will be a lot bigger. Ferrari needs to build more fuel efficiency into their engine, but the engine freeze will stop this from taking place. In addition the new rules may actually mean the cars are running at lower peak revs to conserve fuel and potential not in the "power band" of the rev range.

Expect teams running the Merc engine to have the upper hand unless the engine rules are changed.

How much can they do to mitigate this problem during the engine re-equalization?

V8 Fireworks
Bit rich for Ferrari who have upgraded their "frozen" engine regularly to increase the power, to then ask for concession so they can reduce fuel consumption!

I'm sure they would like to have the best engine, but they have to accept that Cosworth will be allowed to homologate the best engine, for political purposes.

Yep, bad dress sense.

What is it with the grandad jumper? If he carries on like this he'll have to be renamed Grandad Fred.

Maybe its a criteria in Ferrari, if you have good taste in clothes you are out. Hmmmm...

I support both equally.. I will be happy for Massa when he beats Alonso next year on some races and viceversa.. If it becomes a two horse race between the two for the title I would probably be more inclined towards Massa because I feel he deserved the title last year and was very unlucky and Alonso already has two..
