Button has got his WDC and it seems certain Vettel will challenge again.

However, what do people think will become of the other two title contenders. I think Webber could be Massa from 2007 and end up making a better challenge next year, wheras I think if anyone can get Williams winning again it will be RB (assuming he goes there, that is).

I reckon Webber might have a more difficult time of it next year. Vettel is Red Bull's poster boy and the general consensus is that the team is likely to be moulded around him. Webber needs find his one-lap specialism which seemed to vanish this season, but if there are two drivers who might excel with the new non re-fuelling regulations, it's probably Webber and Barrichello.

RB is getting very old, I think it is downhill from here for him racing wise

Red Bull will build the team around Vettel

I think this is as good as it gets for both of them

Rubens is the only F1 driver today with "no refueling" experience.

Some dejavu moment:

He admitted that inconsistency cost him a shot at this year's crown.

"I am disappointed that my championship bid faded, but as always you need to put a whole season together," said Webber.

I'm not a Webber fanboy but I do like him. Let's not forget that he did start the season with a broken leg! I think Mark had a good season and could be stronger next year. Vettel looks good but I don't think he is a lot faster than Mark overall.

Webber has done well this year but ultimately I think hes another DC.

Rubens surprised me this year, the old boy still has it in him.. I think he's now missed his chance though.

Truthfully no one on earth has the slightest idea who will be competitive next year. It could be Kubica at Renault, maybe Brawn again? Or McLaren, but Ferrari too! And what of Toyota? Ah, there's also Redbull...

I'm not going to make an ass of myself and even try to think whether Vettel or Webber will be fighting for a championship or even wins next year.

The way I look at it is, if circumstances can come together whereby Button can become WDC, I don't think Webber or Barrichello can be counted out completely as contenders. I've taken this year as a lesson that unexpected things can happen in F1. Sure, they won't have the advantage of new regulations shaking up the teams in 2010, but Webber will be starting the next season knowing he's healthy and that he can beat Vettel in races, while Barrichello, who might be changing teams, could find Williams (if that's where he ends up) is the perfect fit for him.

I think MW is more likely to have a better season next year. (AFAIAA) the front tyres and wing (?) will become smaller - car will have a tendency more to understeer - MW's preference. Additional minimum weight of the car will also provide opportunities to move twice as much ballast around as last year - which was a significant issue this year. No fuel stops as well will reward his fairly conservative attitude to tyre wear. I see far more positives than negatives for him next season. No DD headstart for Brawn and others next season either.

Rubens has beaten Jenson before in the championship tongue.gif He can certainly do it again what we have seen this year in the 2nd part of the season.
