Should Vatanen launch a legal action through the courts in light of the possibly corrupt nature of the FIA's role in influencing the recent vote for the FIA presidency?
Victor_RO
No. It's not going to change anything.

And even if there was anything, the FIA will make sure that it's so well-covered-up that it never comes to light.
MegaManson
No, only if he wants to make a fool of himself even more

If he lost by 5 or 10 votes maybe he has a case but he was slaughtered

He'd need proof. Saying "I think they're corrupt" is not reason enough to launch a legal challenge.

Simply, I don't believe that the FIA is competent enough to stage a cover up.

Only if he can prove it, you can't launch an action on perceptions.
Just waiting
why not? It will give us all something to talk about regardless of merit or success

Ahem.

Just an example of how a dictatorship can create a landslide victory. I'm not saying that this is the case here, I'm just saying it can happen.

He was utterly annihilated.

I mean what is he going to say - sorry judge but I got less than 30% of the vote, but I'm sure I could have won if the Max Mosley didn't rebuff my request to support my candidacy!

It's like 'Dude...you lost. Go home'.

Im no stranger to legal action, but it is the wrong choice for Vatanen. He was soundly beaten in a fair election. The best, most attractive guy was voted in. Golden era to follow.

So you are an ex F1 driver who has homosexual tendencies towards 60+ men and a drink/drug/eyesight problem, that narrows it down
Mika Mika
No - whats the point if they dont want him to be there.

I'm starting to think that "F1" might be a pet name for his old Fiesta.

If Ari wants to do anything in F1 administration he'd be better offering himself as the guy to make a beakaway viable in 2012. Or to be part of that team perhaps. Not sure he's really got what that takes, though.
Gareth
I voted yes in the vain hope that the loss of a legal challenge would reduce the conspiracy theories.
Archybald
Legal action would be about as constructive as Super Aguri in 2008 imo

Or, better yet, put himself forward as F1 Commissioner. Vatanen has a better grasp of the sport at the grassroots level and his policies would have been good for F1 ... but only if the FIA's sole concern was F1. Todt has a better grasp of the big picture.

Vatanen had by his own admission never been to an F1 race till he went to Monza

His understanding of F1 is on the level of my understanding of nuclear physics

That can be a good thing: he's outside the system. He owes no allegiances to anyone on either side; he's more neutral than anyone else who might run for the job.
