How old are you? Seriously? Because if you are 14 or something, that would explain a lot of your posts.

@Odvan. Thats a good point. I forgot that McLaren are often later than most with their official announcements of drivers. Besides - even the Button deal isnt done yet. And being a world champion it should be a no brainer that he continue in Brawn. But even in that case there is a lot of stuff to work out first.

We seem to have forgotten the roles of lawyers in these.
2 parties may agree on the generallity of a contract but when you bring in an array of lawyers to finalize the details, a simple agreement can suddenly take months to be ready.

Possibly, but why would Kubica take it unless he had other plans beyond 2010?

According to Kimi there are nothing you could change. So relax and enjoy suspense. smile.gif

I'm confident we will hear something during this week before Mclaren-Mercedes show on November 8.

Actually i think we will hear something AFTER Mclaren-Mercedes show on November 8 up.gif up.gif
I think Heikki will get a proper good bye and thank yous at Mclaren-Mercedes show.

The last race of Kimi Raikkonen with Ferrari in Abu Dhabi was also the occasion to ask him a lot of questions. A way to understand what this experience in Italy will leave him, but also to find out more about the most enigmatic driver of the paddock. He comes rather tense because the topic 'future' basically worries him much more than he would to show. He sits down at the pitwall and answers (and on the lighter questions we can also see a smile).

- What is your ideal hour to wake up in the morning?
(Laughs) Eleven.

- Italians are rather open people. Has it been a problem for you in these three years?
No, I have always had a good relationship. It’s true, they are passionate in many ways but I wouldn’t say it has never been a problem.

- How many words have you learned in Italian, not the dirty words?
Well, I say something, but not much (smiles and makes clear that he doesn’t intend to perform).

- Being a F1 driver is great for what reasons?
Because I’ve always loved sports and driving, but driving is the best thing for sure.

- What is your worst nightmare?
Don’t know, I sometimes have nightmares but when they are very bad I wake up. But it usually happens that shortly after you woke up you forget everything.

- Can you tell us something about you that you think people have totally misunderstood?
No, I don’t tell you.

- Is there a category that you hate, journalists apart?
No, there isn’t. And I don’t even hate the journalists, the fact is that I don’t like being with them, because of this job I love the sport, not talking. But I can say that many of them are also interesting people, but simply answering to the questions it’s not something I enjoy.

- If you had to choose to have only one car in your garage, what would it be?
I have one in my mind, but I think it would be a vintage car, maybe of the '60s.

- What drives you crazy?
Many things, but sometimes it depends on whether you're in a bad mood and someone just says the wrong thing and in the end you get angry.

- You had many teammates. Who was the strongest one in your opinion?
I can say that in the past I’ve had very strong ones, but if I have to do a choice I would say Felipe Massa without doubt.

- Over the last two years you received various criticisms, maybe someone didn’t correspond to reality, so which one gave you most trouble?
In Formula 1, people talk, criticize, but I don’t care. If they want to write bad things they do it, nothing changes for me, I mean ... It’s part of life.

- What you will take away from this experience at Ferrari?
The best memory: I won the World Championship.

- What do you think that you will miss?
I met some beautiful people, basically I will miss them.

- Is there anything that scares you?
Nothing.

- What makes you nervous?
Usually I’m always nervous at the start of races, but then it’s a feeling that goes away. In life there are a lot of things that make me nervous.

- You can’t live without...?
Many things ... even if it’s true that to live you really need very little, I mean once you have water and food you'll be ok.

- What is your favorite food?
Pasta (before arriving in Ferrari he was a fan of chicken).

- Do you think Ferrari fans are different from others?
I don’t think they are different, they only have a lot of passion. To have fans is a beautiful thing and however they are, it’s fine for me.

What is the point confused.gif , Kubi is tied with Renault deal which is already confirmed...

Only real option that would make a difference for them is Kimi, otherwise they might as well go on with Heikki...

AMUS is now saying Kimi gets 11,5M€ from Ferrari if he does not drive anywhere. If he does he only gets 6,7M€. Mclaren is only offering 3,3M€. Kimi is demanding the same he got at Ferrari.

Mclaren needs to pay A LOT more than 3,3M€ for us to see Kimi in F1 ever again.. 3,3M€ is honestly almost offending.

I'm pretty sure he'll get the money of this season at the end of this year and the money of next season at the end of next. No big problems.

Kimi Raikkonen stands to make more money in 2010 if he takes a sabbatical. Germany's Auto Motor und Sport reports that if the Finn accepts McLaren's current offer, he will earn €15m in 2010, as opposed to €17m if he has a season on the sidelines.

According to his termination deal with Ferrari, the Italian team has promised to pay Raikkonen €17m if he does not race in F1 next year, and €10m if he finds suitable employment elsewhere.

Yeah, so offensive to be offered over 3m euros to drive a potentially race/championship winning formula one car for a year.

It might not be up to his previous earnings, but Kimi needs to decide on his priorities. If he thinks he's going to get the amount he got at Ferrari from McLaren, which, if I recall correctly, was the highest amount in formula one, he's barking.

McLaren don't need Kimi, they'd just rather like him. There are other drivers around. They hold all the cards right now. If he wants money, and if what you say is true, then he can leave formula one. His choice.

It's a lot of money, but Ferrari has deep enough pocket to afford it. The money seems quite outrageous now with the economy down the drain, but a few years back, when he signed with Ferrari, it wasn't viewed as an obscene amount of money.

And the other point is that it's not at all ;)

Especially not if you think he's not worth more. I think Kimi needs McLaren helluva lot more than McLaren needs Kimi, so Kimi might have to take the offer on the table if he wants to be a somewhat competitive F1-driver next year, and accept his market value is less than it used to be.

Still too much money for Kimi. They should offer him 100,000. If he wants a fast car, without any PR commitments and permission to do rally and stuff, he will have to work for it.

It depends doesn't it?

If McLaren wants a proven good racewinner they should go for Kimi. It would be a great combination - he and Hamilton and I think it could work well.

If they want a midfielder/loser/nothing extra they should go for someone else. You can argue how much you want about Heidfelds, Rosbergs and so on but I think they are like Kova. What's the point? None at all.
