Fauzy sucked in GP2 in 2005-06, not scoring a single point with DAMS or Super Nova. But he secured the runner-up position in the World Series by Renault this year (and ahead of Alguersuari). What do you think? I think he could use another year in GP2 before issuing a verdict on his f1 future.

First Muslim F1 driver

Soon we race in Mekka too

On a serious note; he's just too slow, and never impressed me in A1GP. The quality of the WSR these days is certainly hmmm... disputed, and I don't think Alguersuari is F1 material either. That said, I don't rate Buemi very highly either.

I think he is a bunny who should be nowhere near an F1 grid

Yep, but if you don't outrun Neel Jani, you can't expect to be a Grand Prix driver.

The only reason he'd ever get near F1 would be because of the new Lotus team. I doubt even the Malaysian connection there will make a difference though.

And still not good enough.
Frankly I think his 2nd place in the WSR this season is just going to burn the careers of all the folks who ended up behind him.

Personally, I think he's a bit too dirty in the car.

I cannot forgive a driver that couldn't be able to score a single point in GP2 Series in a tahincesque way.
And World Series... I don't give a damn about it, even because it was his third year out there.

Hope to see you in F1, proving most of these guys wrong!

Well Alguersuari, Turvey, Hartley, Pic, Walker and Martinez are going to be pissed then.
WSR's not GP2 but the standard's way better than F2.

Fauzy might think he's ready for Formula One, but I think his only shot at it might be because there's a good number of racing seats going next season. Personally, I'd rate Petrov, Senna, di Grassi andmaybe one or two others before I considered him.
As a Malaysian, off course I want him to be a part of F1 next season, but having said that I'm not fully convinced of his capability to become an F1 material.
Granted that he has a fantastic year in WSR, but I guess past results also count. He is not consistent enough previously. Judging by decisions from other teams to field untested drivers such as Alguersari, Buemi or Kobayashi...he might worth a shot. But if there are other experienced drivers lurking around (with no contract by the end of this season), its good for teams like Lotus to consider those guys first.
He has the result this year...and i think that is why he's staking a claim for an F1 place. Another dismal year in GP2 or WSR next year will certainly ruin his "chance" to ever be in F1. I guess, this winter will be a made-or-break period for him.

Being Australian, all the coverage I get is two minutes before the Grands Prix, and it ends almost as soon as the podium is over and done with. The only infomation I can get on new drivers comes from Wikipedia.

A Islamic one. His ful name is Mohamed Fairuz Fauzy.
i predict that he'll get at least a testing role with lotus next year, but more than likely a race seat because of his nationality.
if lotus are so keen on having a completely malaysian team (including stating that they want malaysian pit crew, etc), then having at least one malaysian driver is a bit of a no-brainer.
so i predict jarno trulli and fairuz fauzy for lotus next year, with probably no test driver.

IMHO, Adam Carroll would be better than half the current F1 grid. Unfortunately, I see him as a Perry McCarthy Mc 2.
Brilliant driver, but overlooked and underfunded.
