Now this has got to be sorted soon.
Can SOME computer/internet wizard, (and there are millions of you out there) PLEASE tell us idiots how to post our own pictures on the Forum ?
Some of you must know, because you do it!
Come on, be a sport, clue us all in!

Barry, it may not seem so clear from description but to post images they already HAVE to be on the Internet. If you don't have a site the easiest way, and the one I resorted to, is to make your own page somewhere. OK, here's the link to site where you can Sign in:
http://edit.yahoo.com/config/
After that you can use their own tool (Upload&FTP) to upload files from your compute to that site. Remembering that address you can procced with posting as document Felix has pointed out desribes.
P.S. Just noticed Felix has given you a recent thread, not vB codes instructions. Anyway you got yourself a link to sign in for a webspace.

Barry,

Here is a recent thread about the subject of posting photos:
http://www.atlasf1.com/bb/showthread.php?threadid=11648

This works for me,

I have a web site on a server (URL) and transfer JPG images
using a FTP to the server. To link to the atlas bb use
their : {img} (image address on the server) {/img}.Use [ ],
{ } used for demo only.

I have 120 JPGs of my race car photos at:

With kind regards,
Gary Trobaugh

Believe it or not, we -- okay, Bira -- at Atlas are looking at some technical upgrades to make life easier for those much like me who often find technical stuff a bit baffling. Much of the real 'challenging' stuff I let my technical staff handle. Hey! I'm the Commander, I don't have time for stuff like that! lol.gif

Indeed, in the next few months there will be some substantial changes in not just neat technical stuff for Atlas overall, but some significant changes in The Nostalgia Forum. Bira and I talked this week and she -- the editiorial Genius behind not just Atlas F1, but to give credit to where the credit is due, the originator of TNF concept -- is looking at some changes in how TNF looks and feels and operates.

Most of this is still up in the air pending further discussion, but I think it will make TNF ever better and easier to use. Bira and I will soon make an announcement about some things being planned.

Psersonally, I owe Bira a great debt of gratitude for even allowing something like this to come into being. And I owe another huge debt of gratitude for all of you who spend your time here and make it so special and share your work with us.

More to come on all of this soon. Bira knows what a klutz I am so I too am looking forward to the planned upgrades!

Thanks to various people, particularly Rainer, I have cracked the problem.
As with most computer puzzles, once you know how, you cannot guess why you struggled so much before.

Anyway, in terms that even I can understand, it goes like this:

1. If you do not have a website or access to one, forget it.

2. If you DO have a site or a friend with one, save your image as a jpeg file.

3. Upload it, or get a friend to upload it onto a site.

4. When you post the message that you want to include your picture, you must write the entire website address, with your own image name tagged onto the end.

5. E.g. my site is at
http://www.bboor.freeserve.co.uk/Website
so an image from that site e.g. fezz61.jpg would be added to the end of the website address.

6. Finally, these two items must be put before the whole address. Thus we get

7. If the image is above this sentence, it has worked. Right click on the image and properties to see the address again.

I hope this helps.
Barry Boor
Ah, it won't let me show you the tags, because it thinks there should be an address between them. So I'll write the tags in words: square bracket, capital I, capital M, capital G, close square bracket; this goes at the beginning of the address. At the end is the same set of characters but with a forward slash after the first bracket.

Really glad you crack this problem smile.gif

From Russia with love!

P.S. You can show all graphical files as well as JPEGs...

Barry, a little poetic license but I love this car anyway!

It would be are very great help for some of us to create server space within Atlas where we EASILY can upload the photos we want to post in this forum. I said this already in a similar thread, I have a rather large archive on my hard disc, but cannot use it for forum postings.
Dennis David
In December I should have around 40GB available on my website. That should allow me to help people who wish to post pictures. The other answer is to gain 1000 posts and Atlas will give you a website.

You are qualified to join a VERY exclusive group of people who can explain things in a manner that ANYONE can understand.
I can now see why you were a valued member of the Connew F1 project and I believe you must be a member of another (in my experience) exclusive group - an excellent teacher.
Congratulations!

So, your educations being so enhanced, Barry, when do you start posting pics?
Barry Boor
There is no greater praise than that from one's peers.

Barry, thank you for those kind words, although as far as teaching is concerned, the criteria of who is or is not a good teacher is, I'm afraid, whether or not the pupils WANT to learn!

Ray,as well as my home-made slot race Ferrari on this string, you will find 2 of my postings on the 'Who is it' string; and one on the Amon.
Ray Bell
Yes, I meant on the broader scale... in other threads. I've yet to get to Amon...

Michael, there are numerous free ISPs offering huge lashes of webspace. For instance in Holland, where you live, Wanadoo Free (http://www.wanadoo.nl) offers an unprecedented 20MB. Its service and availability are just as good as most of the paid ISPs. Also, by law (at least in Holland), you can specifically prevent them from selling your name and address to third parties, if that's your objection to free ISPs. And in case you run out of space you simply open another account. There's no limitation (as yet).

Most of 8W's pictures are stored for free on two Wanadoo sites. So anyone can easily have access to webspace.

As to the technical side of it: I'm sure Barry B would be glad to explain how to upload your vast archive of JPEGs!
Michael M
Mattijs, I'm aware of this, I also have - theoretically - free web space at my actual (paid) provider (fyi, Worldonline, lousy service, log in is a kind of gambling), but I don't have the time and the mental concentration to find out how the whole thing works. Anything more complicated than attaching photos to e-mails will be rejected. Most of you guys now will burst out laughing, but please consider that finally after 2 years I managed to have my bookkeeping running on Excel, and last weekend I stopped for the 5th time trying to learn HTML.
Racer.Demon
I'll give you a few private hints. Anyone can do this!

(And I'm not laughing. By being on this Forum alone you're ten times more computer-literate than my wife!)
Marco94
RD,

In the light of your most recent remarks, let's hope MM stays ten times more computer literate then your wife. ;-)
