Right two things:
1) Someone might well very likely put a link on justin.tv (like they did with FP3 last year)
2) You'll be able to find it on a torrent site (I know a very good motor racing torrent site)

as for live feed we always have star sports or cctv5 on tvu or justin.
and with a paid proxy you have access to the bbc iplayer.

One of those issues that has only cropped up in a fast internet enabled world. We would never have even thought about it before: not in UK = no UK telly.
Now that it's here I do agree it seems a bit unfair, but that's the way of the world - be nice to get a rebate on Council Tax while away and not using any services, but I think they would tell you where to go.

I'm surprised MichaelPM found 4OD worked abroad, I don't think it is supposed to. It is, as with BBC F1, a rights issue.

That's not exactly true. Here in Holland the BBC1/2 channels (no BBC3/4, limited teletext and no "red button" features) are paid for and broadcast by the cable provider, who then takes fees from the viewer. This is not paid directly from the viewer to the BBC. No fee paid to cable company? No watch
any TV!!

(legally speaking!)
I'm pretty sure that Holland is not the only european country to do this, and if so then it's just a refusal on the part of people to pay.
Online coverage is, of course, a completely different kettle of fishies!!

To the complaint that people would have to pay a subscription to watch it in other countries, and not being harsh, so what? We all pay the equivalent of a subscription in the form of a license fee. Someone will put it up on justin or ustream so I'm sure you'll see it.

why you'd want to watch the bbc coverage a day after watching the race live on another station is beyond me,as you wouldnt actually get anything different other than pre/post race, and thats not worth the hassle of downloading for-and you say you can watch the race etc on other stations........THEN DO!if you want to watch the BBC feed, then pay the licence fee, otherwise put up with what you can find on the net through other stations

Yes I know you can get parts of the beeb in parts of Europe (it's one of the excuses we use for your generally excellent command of English which the Brits seldom reciprocate

).
What I was getting at is that it's only really a very recent idea that watching TV on the internet is do-able at all, let alone watching a UK broadcast in some of the far flung places JP ends up in.

a day after is when you get to see it properly (quality image on a tv set).
internet live coverage is always available but with less quality than say last year itv.
and when at algarve i have the possibility to see it at pubs, satellite - only when there's no english football match to entertain tourists.
and besides races are so boring these days that you really also need the fia live timing feed.

I'm in Ireland and have a similar setup to yourself. Although we have BBC's 3 & 4 but no interactive stuff. There's a royalty paid by the cable company to the BBC and ITV.
I recall, back in the 1990's, ITV were going to order that the Irish cable operators remove the channel from their listings but the advertisers kicked up a huge fuss about it so it was dropped.

Due to it being outside of the UK and Ireland, we don't recieve ITV here

The BBC never release music officially without announcing it, to think it would appear on iTunes before it's announced is just looking for problems.

Haha I predicted this months ago. Look at what they've done with Ski Sunday or Horse of The year show etc and see the 'improved' high BPM versions of these classic themes to get a little taster of what to expect.
I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for something completely new and fresh.

the new ski sunday theme (actually the same as last years) is rubbish and should show proper skiing action in the intro rather than 2 geezers tryin to get down a slope n hardly being able to hear the proper music because all u can hear is the helicopter-if the BBC have ANY sense, they'll leave the chain exactly as it is,because quite frankly classic theme tunes shouldn't be changed, theres no need for it,theyre iconic to that specific sport/programme,and absolutely should be left alone, rather than some crappy modern version that sounds horrific, and not replaced by some rubbish new song

on the whole, most updates/remixes are generally poor (in my opinion) and most programmes that have a theme tune, have had it,unchanged, for absolutely donkeys years, because hearing the theme tune makes you think of that specific sport/programme,whereas a new song/updated/remixed version of the chain just wouldn't be the same at all-hopefully the BBC will realise theres no need for a different version of it,nor a new song altogether

...but managed to take the scariness out by making an orchestral version. It should be electronic music. The new version doesn't have that edge that the old one did.

Very true - I think it mattered a bit when it was on ITV because we heard it so many times at the start/end of breaks, but if the BBC are only playing it twice on Saturday and twice on Sunday it really isn't going to intrude on our lives that much.

Don't panic - check the info. It's from a pretty cheesy compilation of sports themes released in 2004. I'd say the chances of them using this version is somewhere between thin and f+@# all.
