Must be a refreshing change for Button to have an interview from the UK host broadcaster that is not all about Lewis Hamilton's performance.

Great start to the coverage so far! One minor gripe - whilst it was great to hear the chain again, not too keen on the heavy CGI intro sequence - needs to include a few classic archive moments i think - what happened to the 'classic film' as mentioned above, or have i misunderstood?

Not really, but I did not notice it only took Humphryes 8 seconds to mention the word 'Hamilton'.

The major gripe I have is the APPALLING title screen. It looks like something a primary school kid could do.

ALl of a sudden, the "lift me up, lift me up, whydashywama" song from ITV doesn't sound so bad...

I knew this would happen, bloody Legard keeps talking over Brundle. Brundle is no longer a "technical no.2 commentator" like Hunt or Jonathan Palmer, he's a lead commentator now for several years.

At least James Allen was just the village idiot sat next to the professional. Now we have this prick Legard speaking in his radio ways like a horse racing commentator on speed and keeps talking over Brundle I really do not like Legard, radio voices should stick to radio and not come to TV.

This is Legards first ever television commentary, but of course there's no chance he can get some time to settle in from some of the idiots on here.

Mate, press the Red Button and put the 5Live commentary on - it's much better than the TV commentary. Ant Davidson is really shining in that role.

Legard is Boring. I would much rather have Allen back.

You wont get anywhere here or in life in general if you go around personally insulting everybody who offers a different opinion than you....

It wasn't the right response I agree, but neither is slagging off someone in their first try at commentating for TV.

I used plenty of logic. Let me repeat for you. Legard is suited to radio. In radio, there is a much greater emphasis on never having any silent moments because there is only audio to keep the audience happy. Legard is a radio man and he's not suited for TV. And even worse, he keeps competing with Brundle. Allen never did this. Allen was just the fanboy next to the calm anchorman of Brundle. Now Legard is like a bloody horse racing commentator!

When Allen first started he talked across Brundle constantly and never shut up in those first couple of races he did (dare I say seasons), the BBC have provided you with more commentary options than ITV could ever dream of, utilise the and make your decision, but at least wait a few races to see how he settles in before slagging him off.

Why can't I criticise him (I'm not "slagging off")?. Time will tell but I don't believe that Legard can change his old habits. Nobody is above criticism. I realise that some of you are Legard fanboys but don't let that get in the way of logic and reality.

I also think there was actually a greater on-air friendship between Allen and Brundle than even Murray and Brundle.

I am by no means a Legard fanboy, I was disappointed by his appointment, but I'll give them time to develop an on air relationship.

Of course it is! You make it sound as if he's a rank amateur! He's not, Legard is a highly paid professional and as such he can and will be criticised.

It's not all directed at him - the chemistry with Brundle just isn't there and that isn't anybodies fault but neither will it change. I'm listening to the pair now and both Brundle and he are fighting to be heard over each other. It's awful.

I say again, Brundle and Allen were like this when they fist started, in fact so was Murray across Martin, we'll agree to disagree methinks.

Sorry but you're still wrong - what is wrong here is that you have two people trying to be the lead commentator and that never happened with Murray/Brundle/Allen etc.

I've noticed that Brundle is just ignoring Legard and beating him whenever there's a clash. GOOD! Legard take a sedative and take the back seat!

I keep saying it: Allen was a talkative idiot when he first started, talked all over Martin and it was a battle.

Legard needs to be told to calm down, but I imagine he and Martin will talk about it after the session.

I think Martin may have had a word, Jonathon's letting him talk a bit more now.

Eddie Jordan is useless.

I thought so too but at the end it was a total mess. He was blubbering away and Martin was trying to bring some sanity back to the commentary. He also puts Allen's lovefest with Hamilton to shame the way he shot his load in his pants when Jenson got pole!

That's a little extreme, he got excited, but so did many. The team aren't wanking over him at the moment which is nice.
