Where did you watch, online, on the normal TV feed (BBC1), or on the red button?
The red button feed does carry a logo somewhere on screen but IIRC it's just the commentary options in the top right. Is qually even on the red button anyway? I can't see the point if they do run it on there as the BBC don't run interactive content during qually.

Mike Gascoyne was very good, I thought. He was able to add a technical insight in a calm and well thought out manner. He seemed a good fit with DC and Humphrey as well.

I agree, Gascoyne adds so much more than EJ, who seems to take away from the show rather than adding value to it. Ant is fantastic in the FP sessions, he is deserving of a larger role imo.

Jake blog. Key bit in there: "After Q3 we were suffering camera breakup in the paddock so had to semi-sprint to another area whilst talking to DC and Mike before the drivers' press conference. Pretty hairy stuff but I'm starting to get used to that and it's all part of the fun!!"

Are you listening on DAB radio? If so, then yes, it's normal, try listening on red button or FM.
If not, then no idea.

I found Gascoigne to be a much better improvement on EJ and just wish the beeb would see sense and give MG the better gig than EJ.
Have to agree on Legard; he doesn't really 'annoy' me, just comes across as a bit of a non event. Sort of John Majorish.

Yeah the five live commentary is 100% live on Sky+ red button, the team radio etc. is a good way of telling. I didn't watch live this morning as I was still at a hotel for wedding though.

My summary is:
Legard no better than JA but no worse.
Brundle - Wonderful as ever but seems a little frustrated with Legard from time to time.
Humphrey - A good anchor but I feel sometimes he struggles to control EJ.
DC - Great insight from a drivers perspective and gives some note worthy comments about other related items. Seems to struggle to grasp/relay any technical details.
EJ- Annoying but entertaining because I believe DC will end up chinning him shortly. It's F1 Eddie not the EJ Show.
Mike Gascoyne - Was fantastic today and gave a great dumbed down analysis of the diffuser situation. His presentation skills were great and seemed to gel well with Jake and DC.
David Croft - Watched the Practice sessions from yesterday and his commentary seemed great in comparison to Legard but against Brundle and under pressure would it work? Hmmm
Anthony Davidson - Fantastic commentary and adds a great perspective during commentary, seems to be able to translate both technical and driver input into his commentary.
Overall maybe a shuffle could help the commentary team in general.
Brundle and Davidson could make a good team in my opinion I see no need for someone that is a supposed commentator to be on the team(Legard/JA/Croft). Davidson is great on the 5 live/practice commentary I see no reason why 2 drivers cannot commentate together to form a better team?!?

But by all accounts Brundle isn't prepared to work with Crofty. FFS just bring back James Allen. :\

CBBC was the best commentary during safety car periods! They had quizzes interviews with a young kart driver and reports from the BBC weather centre.
Also anyone else enjoy the addition of DC to the grid walk?

I don't think the public needs a commentator to tell them that the driver should keep it on the road. I was fine with it at first, but he crapped on for 2 laps, 2 laps!

They only talked to Mike twice or so all day, I think Gascoyne would do really well to be on the BBC team he has great tech info and brings another side of f1 to the fans. He is good value and BBC should try and keep him longer, as a second pit reporter with ted or something.

I agree that Legard really is pretty bad. I could sense Brundle wishing him to shut up on a number of occasions. James Allen actually was better.
Gascoyne was good too, he was the only one out of the three of them - DC, him and the lanky schoolboy, who actually looked comfortable and confident standing on the grid chatting. DC is a disappointment for me, I'd prefer Davidson. And the lanky chap really seems quite out of place at times.

Why use hand mikes INSIDE the studio?????
As for Legard, I'm going to make a complaint to the BBC. If anyone wants to get rid of him I suggest you do the same. Last few years in the UK there is a strange "holier than thou" culture and complaints, even if it's just 3 of them, do actually get taken seriously - albeit in this case he hasn't committed a "crime".

Anyoen that can honestly say Legard is better than Allen needs there head examined. What does Legard bring to the commentary? Nothing. What did Allen? He was good at calculating fuel loads and other things. Legard sounds like he's reading a scripped and the person writing the script keeps making errors.

Gascoyne is fantastic, great yesterday and today.
Interesting his comment after the race regarding how Vettel is one of those very few drivers that "has it all", "the only one since Alonso started"...implying Hamilton is not at the same level.
Honest commentator (whether you agree or not).

I agree, for all Allen's faults he brought some stats to the party every week and liked doing some quick calculations to make things interesting. Leg-end just sits there (ok he probably stands...) jibbering and getting in Brundle's way.

Whether you like it or not, they DO make a difference - especially to the BBC.
There is a huge "complaint" culture here in the UK now, especially with the transparency and ease that the internet brings. I actually do not agree with it but it definitely works. BBC are so beauracratic now and so under the cosh with recent incidents that every complaint gets looked at (and responded to in detail).

Jonathan Legard has a contract with BBC for this year at least, the complaints will not mean that BBC will sack Legard, it is a fact Legard is with BBC commentating this season.
For years on Digital Spy's Formula 1 thread, people complained about James Allen, but year after year he was left as commentator with no change. Your complaint(s) won't change anything.
If anything, blame Ben Edwards for refusing to give up other commitments, had he given up other commitments on F1 weekends for instance A1 Grand Prix and British Touring Cars.
