The very thought of people writing in to the BBC asking to have James Allen back on air is just horrifying beyond words.

I liked the bit in qualifying when Legard started telling us about Kate's Dirty Sister.

I can't believe that we get rid of the over excitement of James Allen, with all his screaming and over use of words like 'majestic' and 'scythes'. To Mr "dull" who sounds like he is commentating on a chess match. I have managed to get use to him though, by the end of race I have usually tuned him out. Leggard has got to go hopefully before the end of the season.
I can't complain to the Beeb, unfortunately I watch the world feed in NZ, luckily though we only have to listen to him during Quali and the race, all the practise sessions we get to listen to the awesome commentary from the the 5 live crowd. Ant Davidson is great, him and David Croft work together really well.

My comment was suggesting if Legard puts in a good performance today whether people will regret sending in complaints (i.e. they complained too soon without giving him a real chance). I hope my comment never suggested that Legard will be dropped, because the BBC will not be dropping him within the near future.

It's not like people were saying he was crap beforehand and they were proved wrong. They've been unimpressed with him over the first three races. If he suddenly gets it together in race four, sure it will be good but it won't suddenly prove people wrong. Yeah three races into what will be a multi-year commentary team is a little early to write the book on the guy, but people aren't incorrect in their impressions of him, what else do they have to go on at this point? If he turns out to be great overtime people will enjoy it, they won't be thinking "blimey, I got that one wrong"

JL's commentary was much better yesterday -- he's beginning to gel with Brundle and realises less is better.

BBC are certainly improving all the time.

Not really, at the point of making a complaint, the rationale was reasonable and fair.
If Legard becomes less dull then that doesn't change the fact he was interminable in the first three races. But the volume of further complaints to the BBC will probably drop off.
If he doesn't get better, then no doubt the complaints will remain consistent. And at the end of the season - if he doesn't get better - hopefully they'll take action.

Shame, thought that BBC had maybe banned MB from interviewing irrelevant celebs on the grid, seems not.

Listen to one of the provided alternatives than, and stop whining.
So sick of the moaning when there are 3 choices so noone has to listen to Leggard if you don't like him.

Brundle really really needs to plan his grid walks better. It's been formulaic for a few seasons now.
-Waste too much time standing next to the safety car telling us some bit about the first turn that everyone already knows and is usually covered in the track guide.
-Roam around on the first few rows where the drivers either aren't, or are not talking to people because they're on pole and trying to focus.
-Nab some random celeb/driver relation/person who really doesn't have anything to ad.
Could he not go midfield to see what the BMWs are going to try, being ultra heavy with fuel, or see what Webber's plan is being fairly light? Or arrange beforehand to talk to an engineer or technical director?

Brundle's having a really bad day too imo. I'm wondering of the commentary box air-con has packed up and they are struggling in the heat. Or they are missing support staff that help with what is going on.

I suspect Brundle is just losing interest in the job; being stuck with such a boring co-commentator can't be much fun for him.

The BBC commentators seemed to completely ignore the fact that Yoyota threw away the race at the first pit stops. It really annoys me actually how they were going on about how good Brawn was but failed to mention the idiots in charge of Toyota's strategy.

Well we don't have to worry about this. Legard turned in a terribly sub-par (even by his own low standards) performance today.

At least Allen usually screamed something informative...
Legard is unbelievably bad. Worse than I actually thought he'd be and what's worse is that Brundle's usually high-standard commentary is severely lacking because of it. He
needs to go.
at the end lagard got brundle annoyed asking what tires massa was on in his last pitstop....lagard commentary all over the place.

I still fail to see peoples problems with Legard, he obviously spends a lot of time on research before or he takes in everything that he told by MH during the race as if you listen he gives lots of facts about previous races during it. He commentates on the race without sensationalising everything or getting giddy over the brits. You also have extra options, and for those who claim Martins commentary isn't as good as it was but then say they wont switch to the 5live commentary because they want Martin your being hypocritical.
Eddie's just been off on another me, me, me, me, me again, he's the far bigger problem than Jonathan.
