Very true, but surely we expect more from 'experts' than just repeating what are ultimately BB cliches? I mean, imagine if EJ started talking about Alonso's "6 tenths"
Definitely. the experts are just as blinded by the stats as we are sometimes. Like when MB rubbished JL's comments about the tires today. Legard's response was I am only reporting what the Bridgstone guys tell me. To me this speaks volumes about Legard's lack of ability when it come down to really reading the information that is provided falls way short IMO

From what I heard at the time JL started to say "we're told that these tyres are .4 of a second slower..." and MB cut across him as he was about to say 'but...'.

Much better effort from Legard and I think he and Brundle are finally getting a double act going. Plenty of room to improve but a big step in the right direction.

Pre-race was good as usual. Don't remember seeing any features that were also shown yesterday. Liked the Kimi interview.
The race itself was meh. Seeing as Barcelona clearly cannot produce top-class racing, I suggest the race is thrown off the calendar... surely they would realise that adding a chicane before the final corner helps no one? Just get rid of this bore-fest from the calendar. Legard and Brundle were OK, although I did find Legard's comment about "quoting from Bridgestone" quite sarcastic.
Running to 15:15 on BBC One is clearly not a good idea; run to 15:00 and 15:05 is fine.... there seemed to be a few "loose straws" I thought on the end of the BBC One coverage. Run to 15:15 only at longer races, i.e. Monaco and Singapore.
The forum seemed OK however it doesn't help when you have an incredibly bored Martin Brundle. As I noted above it doesn't help when some features have already been shown on BBC One (Hamilton interview, Webber/Alonso) hence why today I think the forum should have been from 15:05 with the BBC One programme finishing at 15:05. Liked the Newey interview as well.
Lee's interview with Lewis: What answer was she expecting off him? Hamilton doesn't really care if he's being lapped, he wants to win, of course its not nice to be lapped is he really going to say "I was really annoyed when being lapped blah blah blah". No.
Questions I would have probably asked:
1) do you feel your start effectively ruined the race for you
2) if that never happened do you feel that you would have finished in the points
3) how was the last stint on hard tyres
4) prospects for Monaco

Trouble is, Lewis appears to be getting Schumacher syndrome when confronted with closed questions.
So your interview would have gone:
1) do you feel your start effectively ruined the race for you? Lewis: Yes.
2) if that never happened do you feel that you would have finished in the points. Lewis: Yes.
3) how was the last stint on hard tyres. Lewis: Awful.
4) prospects for Monaco. Lewis: I just have to thank the team for working so hard on this upgrade. I drove my heart out, as I always do, but it wasn't enough today. I just have to thank the team and everyone back at the factory for working so hard. I love Monaco and hopefully we'll be stronger there.

I'm pretty annoyed at DC's comments about Lewis Hamilton. Apparently having a dog of a car is just "part of the rollercoaster of motor racing". So Lewis should just accept it then?

Well that just sums up to me the difference between DC and Lewis...Lewis wants to win, while DC is just a loser. It really used to annoy me how calm and relaxed DC always seemed to be after yet another poor performance/DNF. Maybe that's why I could never really warm to him despite his being a Scot. Plus I can never imagine Lewis doing an Australia 1998.
DC...I want to see my favourite driver winning, not losing.
So do you think that if DC had back then had a temper tantrum and stomped his feet it would have helped the team give him a better car? Would it help Lewis in the same way? Of course it wouldn't. To suggest that any F1 driver past or present does not want to win is just plain stupid. To criticise the team would get him no-where. To me the best drivers take the rough with the smooth and that was all DC was saying.

I was expecting him to say 'I was hoping to stay on the lead lap in case massa ran out of fuel on the last lap. but when button passed i was certain to finish out side of the points. it didn't matter in the end.'
his actual answer suggested the team weren't thinking that way. which is actually quite interesting.

I think Lewis was utterly pissed off, and who could blame it.
It is kind of the opposite of the situation from 07 where Louise Goodman would occassionally ask Jenson Button how happy he was for Lewis.
You've got to feel sorry for the drivers in that case, because I really don't think they feel happy for anyone who finishes ahead of them.

His reaction when watching the crash was quite classic.
It must be hard to go from being hyped up, blood pumping for 90 minutes, having the rush of getting a good result, then having to sit still and look composed in front of a global press conference.

I nearly fell over at the irony involved with Brundle casually devouring an Ice cream live on camera whilst those around him talked technical and F1. It was like witnessing some kind of post-modern performance art piece.
Did anyone also notice Brundles arm lingering rather long on Eddie Jordans shoulder I think as EJ declared that KERS cars 'do' infact 'weigh more'.
It was also an inspired choice to invite uber boffin Newey into the studio, even if he claims he is going deaf due to so many years in motorsport.
Classic BBC, five hours of intermission free original F1 content.
It's just a shame we still have to suffer 'Radio' Legard during the race itself.

I think all the costume dramas and abysmal attempts at comedy shows are an utter waste of BBC money, which just so happens to be funded by my licence fee and not just by MP's licence fees. I don't however lobby my local MP to raise the issue in Parliament, so neither do I expect other MP's to waste Parliament time on singling out individual programmes.

NO.
F1 is just over £30M a year.
MOTD is £57M a year
6 Nations Rugby is £40M a year.
The Olympics, like the World cup and Euro's might not be as much as it could be as the BBC and ITV (not the Olympics) bid jointy as part of the EBU. I'm sure I read somewhere that this going to change so they might have to pay more in the future but I dont know for sure.
