Not sure that was a BBC coup as such, it seems Mosley is doing the media rounds this morning and speaking to a lot of people now the end is in sight re: the budget.

I'll defend Eddie on that, KERS can be charged before the start so you can use it off the line.

I thought it was only after the car was going 100kph.
On the short run into Monaco's first corner that wouldn't make much difference would it?

True insofar as the charging is concerned, but my understanding is that they are not allowed to use it off the line, and that the ECUs are programmed to prevent it from kicking in until 3 secs have elapsed.

The 100kph figure apparently is when an F1 car is not traction limited, and I really cant see how KERS will help on the very short run down to the Sainte Devote corner...

Not that I know of, and Martin just agreed with Eddie about using KERS, it's usable once you are not traction limited, so 62mph or so, so he will be able to use it, but it's doubtful you would get much use from it.

I think people are throwing out the 3 second figure as a ballpark figure of how long it'll take the cars to reach the speed where the KERS is able to kick in, as I've heard some people say '100kph' and others say '3 seconds'. The point remains that EJ was talking cobblers because Kimi will be braking for Ste Devote by the time that he can use the KERS. Still, I usually like what EJ has to say (not a popular view around these parts, I know).

I don't have any evidence to hand, but the thing the viewers are watching for is the Drivers' title, once that is resolved viewers drift off - they don't really care about the Constructors' title to be quite honest. I don't see how it can possibly be good for the sport either having the title race done and dusted by half season.

Constant football and cricket interruptions were annoying on the R5L feed today, so I had to switch over to JL a few times.
The long silences were painful. The guy cannot commentate - he just runs out of ideas and we;re left with dead air. Martin’s role has been reduced to trying to fill the gaps left by Legard.

I've been told it's a peculiarly British trait Ross! They should have to go and listen to Nick Harris's twaddle at MotoGP, or worse, Jonathon Green's screaming skull winding up to full crescendo at World Superbike. I think the extended coverage (at least what we see down under) along with extra cameras and nifty camera angles and no James Allen makes this season a big step up.

"Fundamentally" - hmmm. Essentially or primarily - Collins English. No I don't understand either. I understand that - in your opinion - Legard is bad. I can understand you may find him boring or repetitive or something else "bad". But "fundamentally bad", me sahib, I not understando boyo.
I guess fundamentally Murray Walker was a bad commentator. He used to repeatedly get it wrong. He used to often assume the win was assured (when it wasn't!). He used to be famous for his "Murrayisms" and was "fundamentally bad" but after a while we would, most of us, just giggle and wait for James or, later, Martin to correct him, usually with a smile on their voice! But Legard can't be specifically accused of the sort of transgressions of our dearly departed.
Not being British (or European) I haven't heard Legard before but he seems to have at least a rudimentary knowledge of what F1 is about (his role is "anchor" after all!) At least he hasn't descended to the level of silliness of his predecessor "Cock" who really lived up to his nickname. I don't know whether Brundle has a conflict with Legard or not but he has rather gone off the ball lately, making some uncharacteristicly poor assumptions. Eddie, delightful Irishman that he is needs to be given a couple more GPs to shape up or get the flick. He seems to have spent most of the time since he sold Jordan F1 drinking the favourite beverage of his nation continuously - such is the level of his contributions. His arguments with DC are cringeworthy. All up - BBC, more than a pass mark, still room for improvement. I have some of the answers if you wish to contact me privately Mr Beeb!

It's beyond me how anyone can rate Legard than Allen. JA was annoying at times, yes, but at least he knew F1 really well. All Legard says is 'it's hot outside. Button is in the tunnel.. and now through chicane.. fast left hander is next". How exciting and insightful.
