I have to say I would take Allen over Legard any day, but other than that the team looks good. Its just a pity that the internet assasination of Allen seems to have had an effect on the BBC when it came to chosing commentators.

It'll be a case of "Let's hear from Ted" and "Let's hear about Eddie". Dreadful choice, however he may choke on his own ego.

Well he's lost his job doing MotoGP for Eurosport, he started in F1 at Benetton and he was commentating Classic F1 at Silverstone in the Summer, alongside Murray Walker. And doing it very well. Why wouldn't he want the premier motorsports commentary job?

*Peter Windsor was the internal rumour for Kravitz's role.
*Coulthard at races; with Humphrey and Jordan in the studio.
*Not every race at HD.
Not sure about Humphrey/Jordan in studio.

Quite pleased with the line up although i would have preferred Ben Edwards as a commwntator but i'll not judge Legard before he even starts. Humphrey is just another run of the mill BBC presenter but he has done quite a bit of sports coverage so its a possiblity he likes F1 (if not it aint the end of the world). Dunno what they're thinking with Eddie Jordan though

Nope, Legard is a well qualified and good commentator as opposed to the forced and repetitive delivery of James Allen. Always liked listening to 5live when Legard was commentating.
Only EJ disappoints me I'm willing to give Ted a second chance as he can be a good pit reported.
No Allen, no Goodman, no Ryder, no adverts... sounds good to me

I'll prefer Jordan MUCH more than Mark Blundell definitely - even though EJ isn't my preferred person to have the role. Jordan isn't afraid to give his opinion - he isn't afraid to tell the truth - something Blundell rarely did on ITV.

i just hope that 'Auntie' has a 5 second delay in transmissions from both DC & EJ as both have been known, in the past, to drop the odd blooper when live on air and i would not like to see a rush of complaints from people who haven't watched the programme about language

As dumb a piece as it was, I doubt it was all Kravitz idea and work. I reckon ITV had something to do with it themselves.

Maybe, but he still, imo, seemed to spend more time trying to hunt for "scandal" up and down the pitlane than he did reporting what was actually going on in the race.

Who is this jb26? He seems not to have known about the BBC team or when they would be revealed. Does he work there? and won't they be too pleased about someone leaking internal rumours?

That was a little stupid, but his commentary on Massa's fuel hose mishap at Singapore -- a truly spontaneous event -- was little short of inspired, IMO. And, in the words of
The Simpsons' Superintendent Chalmers, he seems to know all the kids' names.

Yep, he works for BBC team (I think he has something to do with the interactive side - but don't keep me to that). And no, he never revealed exact roles - he just gave an idea of what's to be expected.

I'd expect that to be Support Race people and stuff.
Oh, and seeing as we won't see him next year, here is the Best of Blundell 2008:

I remember his voice, mainly cause I listened to qualifying on BBC Five Live when the F1 was in Canada.
The new bbc crew have not done a single show yet give them a chance.

I doubt EJ could complain about that kind of appraisal. He'll make a decent pundit, though; it'll be interesting to see someone in sports broadcasting who actually has an opinion.

Pre-decided? We've been through years and years evolving to that final conclusion.
I could have lived with the whole of the ITV crew if it meant we lost the adverts but the one person in addition to Martin Brundle I thought really deserved to be on board was Ted Kravitz.
Legard and Liz McKenzie are an unknown quantity to me, but with Martin Brundle in the box, Ted Kravitz in the pits and DC as a pundit the coverage is sure to be good. Overall, it looks like a good team.
An Irish Eddie is bound to add some flavour to the mix.
Jordan is bound to be entertaining but Irvine would be better. Probably beyond the BBC Budget though !

I have been watching on Dutch TV RTL/SBS for years. My only hope for the BeeB is that they don't do what they do (currently) on RTL, That is to take EVERY SINGLE OPPORTUNITY to try to turn it into some sort of nationalistic activity.
To hear the likes of Allard Kalf try to link anything with Holland in any way possible:- "this engineer used to work for a team who hired a tea-boy who used to live next door to someone who once met a Dutchman!!!!"It's laughable, and the host is even worse.
Taking time out from tech analysis in order to interwiew a Dutchman who was working in F1 is one thing, but what was his job?
TO SWEEP THE PITLANE!!!!!!!!!!
So please auntie beeb, try to keep it objective.
Although I will miss Olav Mol, he's like a dutch Murray Walker!
Won't be missing the bloody ad-breaks every 20 mins though!!!

The crowd were doing a fair bit of boo'ing at Hamilton.. just harmless support for Massa really. So Ted did a short piece on the start/finish stood next to the fence a short distance from the fans, and got a Union Jack out of his jacket and waved it at them. Needless to say the crowd got quite noisy.

No. BBC are signed up to Freesat.
They would have blocked coverage of other stuff such as FA Cup, Olympics etc long ago if this was the case.
Hopefully it might be HD coverage too.

Few notes from jb26 over on Digital Spy Forums [a few updates/reminders]:
*For European races, after they have finished, 4 x 2 hour replays will air on the Red Button.
*Same thing likely for Asian races - depending on capacity issues - for instance if any other sports are on. BBC One replay will likely be in sync. with one of the Red Button replays.
*Some contract problems in regards support events. GP2 and Porsche Supercup races are no problem, however there appears to be issues regarding "minor" events, for instance GP2 and Porsche Supercup qualifying.
