Might as well rename it into the mclaren and lewis hamilton show as i doubt itl be any different than ITV.

The race will be shown without adverts so thats a 100% improvement in my book. I can't believe the amount of complaining, at least wait until they actually broadcast a race. rolleyes.gif

This thread is definately whetting my appetite. Maybe they'll provide a better service than A1GP online, which currently knocks the socks off F1 and ITV up.gif

Well allright that might be good, but somehow i get the feeling it wont be the great high standard bradcast it was 13 years ago.

I only ask, as the BBC also uses them for tennis/snooker/golf/MotoGP and most probably synchronised swimming.
Does that mean F1 will end up limited on weekends when those events happen, or, are those sports going to be limited to a basic channel?

The other sport shouldn't have too much of an effect. Definately not in 2009

The main events which require the interactive channels and would bump most of the F1 feeds are:-

Wimbledon: 22nd June - 5th July
But they dont play on the middle sunday so it wont clash with the French GP UNLESS it rains a lot during the first week (which often happens)

British Open Golf: 16th-19th July
Doesn't clash with a GP in 2009

Olympics: No winter or Summer Olympics in 2009

Also, World Cup and Euro Football matches may take up 1 or 2 interactive feeds during games but the Beeb would probably try to avoid clashing the games with GP's. However in the Knockout stages the kick offs are fixed and they wouldn't want to miss out on England games (I wish we could get that far confused.gif ) as they easily the biggest rated sporting events in the UK for viewers.
However they are only every 2 years. WC2010 in South Africa is the next one

So overall not much in the ways of clashes biggrin.gif

Andy.

maybe edwards was a possibility, but you certainly dont need 2 commentators, which is what edwards and legard are,you need 1 commentator,1 co-commentator,eg legard and brundle-lauda is a hamilton fan and normally doesnt talk much, berge is involved with torro rosso so how can he be a pundit when most of his races will be spent on the pitwall/in the garage,JPM cant be involved because practically every weekend he races in nascar-quite frankly, you talk rubbish

there is no french GP next year, and probably wont be until 2011,so that wont be an issue for a few years yet, also it has occasionally clashed with the british gp instead of france (daft idea to have silverstone and the wimbledon mens final on the same day tbh)

13 years ago it was relatively poor,ITV have brought things along-to even think about suggesting the coverage will be worse than it was when they lost it for the 97 season is pathetic and rubbish in all honesty

Is Berger still involved now that he has sold his share?

"I'm always grateful to you for making me aware of what's missing - and I do try to follow up. I know that you've identified the Strictly Come Dancing Results show as a concern - and I'll make a firm commitment that with just over a year to figure out ways of doing it, I am confident that it will be on BBC HD next year. You've also mentioned programmes like Merlin, Top Gear, and Formula 1 which you want to watch in HD on the channel. I'm having conversations about all of those on your behalf, and I'll let you know as soon as there's any news."

BBC preparing for Formula One coverage scheduling wise, Countryfile, which normally airs on Sundays from 11:00 to 12:00 is moving to peak time on Sundays.

I never thought I'd see the day when 'Countryfile' was mentioned on these forums!

Someone else's work (not mine!). I know, when I first seen it I thought "is this real", but yeah, I think it's someone else's work.

Judging by the fact that Lewis' little brother got included in the video, when most F1 drivers did not , I'd have thought this was an ITV production...

The following I am quoting directly from jb26 on Digital Spy Forums:

"An onsite studio is now not looking as unlikely as it previously appeared to be, I don't know what can be read into that but I'm sure you'll find something.

The team uniforms will be the same as the 5 Live team (black / white shirts)."

I hope they have an onsite studio... be better than a London one.

The double-negative in jb26's message leaves me confused confused.gif

So there is a good chance of there being an onsite studio?

As a viewer, who cares where the studio is?

Blimey, I can't believe Michaela Strachan is now middle aged ( ie over 18 in these youth obsessed days ) - Can remember her getting her baps ( & possibly more ) out in some lads mag in the 80's and being part of the dreadful " Hitman & Her " disco programme with Pete Waterman at much the same time.

The fact they're going to move Countryfile to Sunday night is going to send my missus over the edge since she loves the programme and if it's put on at the same time as CSI .......,which she also loves, my life is going to be a f@cking nightmare due to the whinging from her end of the sofa !
philhitchings
and with a pull of 2.5 million I guess the powers that be will be watching closely to see if the viewing figures change and whether F1 will match/beat those figures consistently

That's what I read from it. Not sure why he made it sound like a negative. Maybe there's more to come from it.

For the F1 on ITV, the whole show average was in the 3.5m to 4m range for a typical European race (Britain was higher with I think a value in the high 4m). I expect it to average at least 4.5m for the Beeb for various reasons:

1) No adverts. On average, when the adverts come on at least 500,000 viewers leave and channel hop for five minutes before returning to their seats - this brought down the average by a few hundred thousand.
2) Less pre-race. The pre-race figures are typically, low, so therefore with less pre-race the figure should be higher...

...Hence my expectation come the European season that we should see figures in the 4.5m - 5.5m bracket.

...still, it doesn't imply any mental deficiency. It's pretty rude to call someone mentally retarded because they can't walk properly.

Cerebral Palsy, is a movement disorder caused by damage to the motor control centers of the brain.

I can understand how that might translate to ¨mentally challenged¨

No more so than MS, unless you're bandying around the phrase willy-nilly.

mental adj 1 belonging or relating to, or done by using, the mind or intelligence • a mental process • mental arithmetic. 2 old use belonging to, or suffering from, an illness or illnesses of the mind • a mental patient. 3 colloq foolish; stupid. 4 colloq ridiculous; unimaginable. mentally adverb.

Mentally denotes the mind, not the brain.

given most ITV F1 coverage (quali and race) started at noon,i doubt moving countryfile has anything to do with it tbh
