Bahrain to AbuDhabi is about the same distance as London to Manchester if that, the Bahrainis would be at the race, Ron made no attempt to stand out this weekend or give interviews, if he wanted to embarrass Max he would have been high profile, there was 1 shot of him on tv

What to do the distance of London to Manchaster with that you've stated a wrong info: the Abu Dhabi royal family own 30% of McLaren, Ron is the big chief, I expect the sheikh wanted Ron there to discuss business

McLaren F1 GTR, sweet!
Talk about a car (the F1 in general) a decade ahead of its time, or more!

The old Mclaren is still one of the fastest cars around. drunk.gif

He's there on business, I'd say, not politics. I still think too much is read into the personal relationships between these people. (Ron, Jean, Max, Bernie etc)

I agree, but I think it comes from them working alongside each other for 30 or 40 years or more now

Looks wise at least, this new McLaren MCPKRTLWXYZ-12CDRQSMNG looks like a competitor to the 360 Modena rather than the 458 Italia.

Mclaren building a rival for a car that hasn't been made for 5 years?

Talking about its mediocre and completely generic looks, yes. It could be an Ascari, a Farboud (or whatever that brand that changes its name every year and never sells a car is called know) or any other of those British "supercars" built in barns.

Technically, given that McLaren has outsourced the major components of the car to reputable companies it shouldn't be bad although I hope that the built quality is better than in the case of the SLR....

Ron sounding great on the BBC!

Great to see him back.

Says he'll attend a few races next year but he's into the bigger picture issues at McLaren now.

Poor Ronzo missing out on his chance to get on to the podium after a mechanical failure frown.gif

Still, at least he was there to get some inspiration from Ferrari World

It would be amazing to see an outhouse at Oulton tranformed into the Parody Centre

I'm sure many would spend a penny there

Your phrase:

good morning and how are you today from your friends at mclaren

Ronspeak translation:

wholly satisfactory ante meridian period and how are you to24 hour temporal period from your friends at Team West McLaren Mercedes

Impressive thread for it's unity in not responding to bait. Really sad people looking for somewhere to spread their hate.

Great to see Ron back, Max gone. Done in quiet respectful manner rather than the finger up the nose. It will be interesting to see what direction he will take the Big Mac now he has had time to look from a perspective outside the F1 focus.

Abu seemed to mark new beginnings for F1 in some respects and the first half of 2010 will be interesting IMO.

It warmed my heart to see Ron on the screen again. He's been such a major player for all these years, I guess I missed him. Hope he's around some more.
