With the off-season we can now not onl reflect on a passed season but also on the end of another decade.
In other topics there already have been questions about top seasons and such, but now I am curious how this decade will be remembered by you and what you expect from the next decade.

Personally I will remember it as the first decade without a fatality for an F1 driver, Schumacher dominated era and the shift from racing to politics.
For the next decade I am expecting Hamilton and Vettel to become multiple WDC's, the shift back to histroic circuits, the introduction of non-gasoline F1 cars and Michael Schumacher as a teamboss on the end of the decade

*If anyone has 2000 - 2009 video's (something neglected by broadcasting companies) share them here to.
Crazy Ninja
The first half will be remembered for the Schumacher dominance, the 2nd half for no one really succeeding Michael as the best driver in F1.

And you make a good point, its been nothing but politics the last few years.

the shift back to histroic circuits,

I really hope so, but I don't think it'll happen... frown.gif

lol I've just posted a topic on the best races of the decade! Great minds think alike and all that...

I think this will be remembered as the Ferrari decade, overall. The two drivers who will stick out will be Schumacher and Alonso, with the emergence of Hamilton, but I think he'll be remember more for 2010-2019.

The politics seem obvious now, but I think it was worse in the 80s.

As for the next 10 years... i think the F1 we know and love is going to go, with more sterile tracks and more and more spec parts on cars and drastoc cost cuts. But there will be some damn good drivers and the privateer teams will rise up again, so its not all bad.

I honestly hope the FOTA is our savior. But we musn't forget that we have Todt now, not Max Mosley.

In the next decade...

The British GP will lose its spot on the calendar
F1 expands to more oil-rich states
More races will be outside of Europe than inside it
Still no US Grand Prix
At least one circuit will be bankrupted by the hosting fees
There will be a steady decline in viewing figures
F1 will still not be in HD

LOL FOTA would be lucky to survive as a functioning association until the end of the Concorde agreement.

With manufacturers leaving the sport, several smaller teams coming in (to FOTA) and some teams siding with FIA, I can't see where FOTA is going to make a lot of difference.

In fact after the theatrics of this summer it would be in FIA's best interest to destabilize and ultimately neutralise or destroy FOTA in the years to come as to prevent a similar scenario happening in 2012.

Yet again: this isn't Max Mosley they are battling with anymore.

They are talking to someone who was doing the (then unofficial) FOTA favors 2 years ago for one of the teams.

In fact, we might see alot of Max Mosley's decisions overruled, since I somehow expect Todt to stay calm and use Max Mosley merely to get the position (aka, not start flaming Max Mosley before he got the job like Vatanen)

The FIA already tried, and it got Max Mosely booted out.

I'd say dream on, Jean Todt will do what's good for FIA just like he has always acted in the best interest of his employers.

FOTA are in for a treat if they still exist in some way, shape or form come 2012 lol.gif

Really don't hope so, because I am sick of more political turmoil and shit.
