So im curious if you had to give a nickname to the 2009 season what would it be? and explain why!

For me id probabaly nickname the season "driving school" take a look at the whole season to me moreso then any other season ive seen it seems like the drivers this year have learned alot. (not just the rookies)

Take hamilton hes learned what its like to be in a bad car and learned how to deal with loosing i think it shows with how he was at the end of the season.
Button finally hes winning hes learned many things like how to win lol.gif but not only that how to deal with the pressure of the championship also what happens when you drive too conservative.
Webber started the season with a broken leg not much winter testing (if any) and according to interviews very worried if he'd be able to race. Any injury adds mental "constitution" (couldnt think of the right word)
Vettel hopefully hes learned how to calm and not spin off and wreck his chances of more points in races.

There seem to be so many more up and down the grid that could (should) have taken away alot of lessons from this weird but enjoyable season.

I think it should be called "UGLY CARS DO NOT MAKE BETTER RACING: KOBAYASHI DOES!"

- The championship the FIA could've saved by telling the teams back in November: listen these DDD contravene the regulations or listen these DDD are ok with the regulations, so they would've avoided misleading conclusions at the beginning of the season by the teams. But they had economical interests in not saying anything to keep an F1 team (for the sake of making more money out of their participation, not for the sake of a good action). Now they've lost BMW but they don't give a darn since they have Manor, USF1 and Campos in exchange.

- The season that proved sometimes the FIA is all BRAWN and no brains: KERS. How to create an expensive technology while stopping, for example, much more interesting engine development. "We are looking to cut down costs dramatically". Cut my pants. A system used by two teams meant for overtaking according to FIA which in the end is meant for preventing overtaking. Duh!

"SICK"

2009's ugly cars made me sick.
Liegate was a ridiculously unnecessary mountain made out of a molehill. Just thinking about any aspect of it makes me sick.
The sterile unimaginative livery of the Brawns couldn't be ignored because they won so often. Champion cars shouldn't make you sick.
Maybe double deck diffuser users were technically justifiable but timely clarity from the FIA would have insured a level playing field. The imbalance made me sick.
He won Monaco but Button didn't know where the winner parks. The subsequent run was stupid and inappropriate. I felt sick.
No GP in Montreal? Bernie, you make me sick.
Planning begins for a Bulgarian GP while there are no plans for a US GP? In the worst sense, that's sick.
Every time Bernie opened his mouth sickness came out.
FOTA's going to fix F1! There will be no surren... Oh. Aww... Not feeling well.
Was Felipe Massa's career over? Get well soon.
Michael's driving again! Hoo-hoo! No, he isn't. Damn. Now I feel worse.
Boom! Piquet/Piquet/Alonso/Briatore/Symonds/Witness X ... F1 is getting more sickening every day this goes on ...
Maxblaa..umph..ooh. Sorry. I'll clean that up when I feel better.
Maybe Ari can fix all this... naw, the sickness runs too deep.
There's probably more but I have to stop now because ... I'm sick of it.

hehe, no prob. Just a moment of inspiration ;)

Kind of fits, doesn't it?

And no offense to BrawnGP, who I appreciate a lot, but this season (and most GP's) have caused many yawns, unfortunately

+1 up.gif After 2006, 2007 and 2008, this year was a pile of s**t.

The 'wrong' team winning.
THE "driverider"
British drivers win in British cars with a British built engine for two years running, so Bernie decides the British Grand Prix is axed.

Judging by some of these replies, perhaps "Bitter Tears" would be a better name.

roflmao.gif The only dice between the top 2 teams at the front was Vettel vs Button at Turkey and the former fell off the road under a bit of pressure. Apart from that race, the top 2 never really mixed it or diced at the front. IMO this season has been the worst since 2004

A season of two halves.

Mainly it was the Diffuser nonsense which wrecked the season because it was practically over by the first half. Like someone said "Big boys caught out by new regs" sums it up well. But I had a feeling that was going to happen when I first learnt about the regs for 2009 though, it was so different that it was essentially clearing the slate. Revolutionary rather than Evolutionary. I don't think the cars were that ugly. Seemed quite retro but in a modern way. Even next season with the thin front tyres it'll look even more retro.

dunno yet, but "diffusor cheat" should be somewhere in the name.
