I realize nothing has been finalized as far as the schedule is concerned, but who will be the ticket seller for next years race? The official Grand Prix du Canada website seems to be down and their phone is no longer in service.

Dunno but last week I saw how Canadian GP tickets were offered as a prize of TV quiz or something. I don't remember where but probably it was on Speed Channel during Abu Dhabi practice.

Now that the mayoral election is out of the way, perhaps we'll have a formal announcement. I know our hotel took our reservation for the weekend! Best source of info is RDS TV or Le Journal de Montreal's racing columnist.

In years past the MTL GP always sold thier own tickets...but if Legualt is not the promoter anymore it may be a whole new operation in place. If Bernie is the promoter (as is rumored) a F1 ticket site (gpt.at) will probably be the re-seller

I'm just planning to buy them through the F1 website. Unless there are cheaper options. I won't be getting GA or grand stands preferably higher up.

Has anyone used General Admission tickets at the Canadian GP? The ticket office told me you're free to walk around the various sections of the track during the race but I wonder if anyone's done that? Pros/cons?

Any other tips would be apprecited, as well.

General Admission is very hit and miss. You must know your spot and get there very early. You cannot "walk around" the circuit as for many years whole portions of the island are out of bounds for spectators.
You get to hear the race but you don't get to see much of it.

Question for Canada Gp regulars...

Say I want to sit in grandstand #11, outside the Virage Senna...thats a pretty big area... and obviously in some sections you can see portions of the main straight and from others, your view is obstructed...

Is there any way to know (or specify) where in that grandstand your tickets are?

I suggest you call and order. They will discuss it with you and give you a feel for where in the stand your seats will be. My brother called to order and they were able to tell him how far up and what side we will be on.

Anyone know how the rows letters work in the Canadian GP grandstands (low to high)?

I'm in GS:11 S:5 R:G...

I know there are single letter rows, and double (as I was in KK before)

Does it go:
AA-ZZ (lowest), then start single A,B,C again?...or reverse...or
A, AA, B, BB etc.

Just wondering where Row G puts me... I'm assuming about a little higher than halfway, but wasn't sure...

My cousin purchased my tickets and already received a charge on his credit card. I know we are in Section 11. I believe we are in row H. I'll have to check.

I'd avoid GA at Montreal like the plauge, it's really no good at all for viewing.

Grandstand seats are not that expensive compared to a Monza, Spa or Melbourne. Montreal is tough to get around, there are bottlenecks everywhere so give yourself ample time to get from A to B.

I'm staying inside the city and will be using the transit system. I've heard that it itsn't that bad. Any thoughts?

The transit system is great. As far as getting to the track is concerned it is wonderful. They have special trains going to the island. Be prepared for a bit of a walk, especially if your tickets are near the start finish or Senna hairpin. You can get to all the race related activities on the Metro and even special events like the International Fireworks festival which is going on Saturday night.

It's the only way to go. It works very well. The whole city buys into the event and the transit system takes you right up to the park.

the only problem after the race is getting out via the metro. but its not like we have another choice..

stretch out, people watch, take a 20 minute nap in the sun, walk the track and scour race car bits, scrape a piece of clagg off the tarmac and start a collection (or a compound sample) walk the gardens, have a drink in the casino, fish for carp in the canals and ponds, jump around and dance in the animated fountains, haggle with the memorabilia vendors, open a second bottle of wine, and about an hour or so after the champagne spraying you might get lucky enough to score a seat on the metro ...

the contrast of the circuit after the race is over is always serenely pleasant for me and the people I've shared it with...

Good to hear about the Metro. I am sitting in section 11. I believe that is on the other side of the Metro drop-off. I guess I have a bit of a walk. I was planning on walking the track anyway.

I'm almost ready to buy my ticket for the Canadian Grand Prix but I'm undecided between grandstand 11 or 12. Suggestions welcomed

Got my tickets in the mail yesterday! Same seats I had in '08. Section 34 inside the hairpin. Best value in my opinion. I've sat in many different grandstands around the track and for the money you can't beat section 34. Trouble is it sells out fast so I'm glad they give previous seat holders first chance.
