Full Version: Two tire rule still in place for 2010?

It would be amazing to see someone attempt a 0 stopper. Tortoise vs Hare. Even if the hard tires are 1 second a lap slower, surely it would be enough to pip the two stoppers who go out fast on softs but have to pit twice?

Not allowed, so not worth thinking about.

It will still be interesting who will make it on only one stop! That can decide many races at tracks with tough wear rates. I really hope Bridgestone sign off with vulnerable tires that wear out quickly, only then will driver smoothness be rewarded by full effect!

Who the hell wants to see smoothe driving? They already look like they are on rails.

I think one stoppers should be the norm next year, this two compound per race rule really should be removed.

What is the idea behind banning refuelling, but tirechange stay? This is just stupid.

$$$$$
It's an expensive process to manufacture the high-tech refueling rigs, plus everyone has to have backups and spare parts, and then you have to haul them from track to track.

If they had one set of tyres that lasted the entire race, they would save a hell of a lot more money.

No. This "Must Use Wrong Tyre" rule is put in for the benefit of Bridgestone. Without it, nobody would be talking about the tyres.

I think they should have multiple compounds as usual with various durability/performance characteristics and let the teams decide what tires they want to run and what strategy they want to run. You could do so many things

put on the softs, run and hide and try to keep your lead while your tires degrade faster than others on hards.
or get new tires but lose time in the pits
etc.

That's what I miss from the pre-refuling era. Some drivers strugglingalong on old rubber whilst others charging up behind on fresh. That sort of speed diferential is exactly what helps overtaking too... but that wouldn't keep the commentators talking about bridgestone all the time would it?

The two compound per race rule is/was/always will be completley stupid.
