So, if he is really ATM_Andy i think he (and the whole McLaren team) knew right from beginning that the 24 was flawed, but he couldn't say it here. Absolutely understable, but he could have safed us a lot of uncertain time during winter testing.wink.gif

Well it will get exciting to see the next 10days the new cars, this has been the most boring pre season in many many years, but ok if the season turns out to be a eek.gif with hammy, alonso, massa, rosberg and schumacher himself, all fighting for the championship, then ok :-).

About the paranoia going on, on this board, about 1st driver status and preferential treatment. rolleyes.gif I think some people are serious afraid their hero is gonna be beaten this year. And thereby i mean all. Everyone, or almost everyone exspects hammy, alonso and schumacher to dominate their team mates. And some will end up getting real dissapointed. About the people in here who say button gets to much attention, are you serious eek.gif The only reason he gets the attention is because they know, that from race one he will be owned by Hami, and his value will drop considerately and rapidly. But i admit, he has balls button and i respect him for that. Now if only hami could shut up, about his development skills and concentrate on racing then we are in for a good season :-)

Well, Button and Hamilton get together for the first time tomorrow as team mates. This could be one of the most harmonious relationships in F1 ever (Perhaps the Stewart and Cevert relationship takes the all time gold). I think it will be extremely difficult for fans to artificially drive a wedge between these two. I can forsee a season of friendly banter both inside and outside of McLaren.

Lewis won't be leaving McLaren end of season unless something catastrophic happens.

Disclaimer: Button beating him is not catastophic (even though I doubt that will happen).

I dont think it will be so rosy man. Button seems deep down very intent on beating Hamilton....his head might drop if he doesnt pull it off. I dont expect him to go nuclearAlonso style about it, but he wont be all lovey dovey about it either.... likewise Lewis, if Button manages to pull off the spectacular, Lewis seems too competitive to be all cool about it either.

But I can definitely see them being gentlemanly no matter what, especially more than the guys at Ferrari

According to Button, he has trimmed his beard cause he wants to look "younger" since its the first time he has had a younger teammate lol. Somehow i doubt that's true lol. I'm to bet Mclaren had a say about his facial hair:


Lewis had a wee afro in GP2. it disappeared as soon as he became a Mclaren driver
Alonso had wild long hair at the end of his first stint at Renault. that disappeared as soon as he became a Mclaren driver
Heikki used to feature at the race of championships when he was at Renault. that stoped when he became a Mclaren driver
Lewis has never appeared at the race of champions, despite the fact he once said he would like to
And now Button has shaved his beard, after having it for ages at Brawn
Oh and we most likey not get to see Button at the race of champions anymore

Man Mclaren are such a kill joy of a team lol...........

Looks like F1 champion, Jensen Button is looking for a dakar ride as a privateer

"Doing the Dakar, for example; I would want to do it as a privateer, just to go there and have fun. It would be such a life experience. If you get into one of the top teams and you are racing for them, it is just so much pressure. I would want to go there and enjoy the race."

RG should build him a ride and have him foot the whole dakar bill. Now that Jensen is driving for Mclaren, he has the salary to self fund this and I am sure he can pull a couple of dozen sponsor.

lol.gif Jense's beard was a fuzzy flop, so feeble next to Hammy's power sideburns, it had to go or he'd just have looked hopelessly outclassed in the facial hair department .

I think it was Mercedes preventing Kovy and Lewis doing RoC, driving other makes of car. We'll see.

I think that's right - it's one of the things which caused such a delay getting Lewis onto Top Gear IIRC.

Lewis did appear at the Race of Champions in 2008, but only in a Mc-Merc SLR.

Lewis looks out of his depth trying to match Alonso's sideburns. Poor attempt at trying to emulate Alonso which he failed and is still failing. Alonso proved to be a faster more complete driver with better sideburn ability.

More likely, McLaren preventing their drivers from taking part in other racing activities, to mitigate injury and getting sidelined.

You can also make out the ridge across it.

I always thought the fuel cells were black.

Well the 2009 Ferrari had better aero than the 2009 Mac. And Iley was replaced by an Italian, continuing that trend, so he may not be bad at his job.

Well, as long as Simon Lacey isnt fired or anything and still works in some capacity there, I guess two heads are better than one... we havent reached an excess of genius just yet.

Why do you believe he was fired? Ferrari were probably informed he was leaving for Mclaren and decided to act - they wouldn't want him to be too involved in their 2010 challenger when he would be leaving for Mclaren. I think there must have been some kind of agreement between Ferrari and Mclaren that prevented him from joining Mclaren last year. He is joining Mclaren at the time when the design and build of the 2010 car is virtually done.

The Ferrari 2010 car wasn't a bad car, the problem was with the interpretation of the rules.

I performed a search on John Iley and found this quote as been part of his termination agreement with Ferrari:

QUOTE
Part of the settlement includes a clause that says Illey is forbidden to join a rival team within the next 6 months.


That was from a publication released on the 22nd July 2009 btw.
