Interestingly, McLaren was counting on De La Rosa as their lead testdriver - that seems quite clear when reading Whitmarsh' statements on the matter (and that he was supposed to shakedown the -25, as well). This is a loss for McLaren. I wonder who Whitmarsh has in mind when he says he expects some (fairly established, I suppose) drivers to lose what now seems like a certain place in the paddock?

The relationship between Mercedes and McLaren may be still good and all, but I doubt they would want to share Heidfeld and he seems available right now. I think Mclaren said they will launch the new car on the 29th.

Regarding the test driver again, there are rumours that Dallara is not getting payed properly by Campos and there is a deadline for payment. Maybe Whitmarsh had Senna - who was signed weeks ago by Campos - in mind when he made his comments.

Heidfeld could already be employed by merc.

That's quite unlikely, they would have announced him with Schumacher and Rosberg then. Even if so, I very much doubt Whitmarsh is expecting MercedesGP to collapse any time soon. If Heidfeld is signed by them, that's where he will stay.

Strangely enough I found that picture rather pleasing. "MP4-25 final component monocoque shell". It makes it look like a real factory, and I love factory branding items. Seriously. It makes it all the more relateable and not like some super dream factory somewhere in the sky (it has now become very obvious that I have not been to Woking tongue.gif ).

I dunno about everyone else, but I really want to see McLaren beat MercGP this coming season - and every one that follows.

The rivalry with Ferrari is massive, but i reckon we got ourselves a very close second.

From great allies to bitter rivals - the two are not far apart.

why on earth would they do that? They have a very good nose solution already smile.gif No matter what McLaren do, it will still look better than the ferrari, that thing looks cheap. plus its a mclaren and all mclarens look good!

Yea, I've thought about that. Surely, while there's still a working relationship between the two, its gotta fall apart quite quickly as Mercedes are hardly going to be willing to lend a hand to a team that could very well beat them.

Ferrari have always had superior aerodynamic philosophies, the proof is always at the start of the season, and we saw that in 2006, 2007, 2008 and of course 2009. Ferrari have won 7 constructors championships of the last decade. McLaren are just good at slapping on downforce.

McLaren - the team - have finished in front of Ferrari - the team - twice since '98.

And last year it only took a Ferrari driver narrowly escaping death to make that possible... sad.gif
