Yes. I think when the second driver will be confirmed, a topic about McLaren drivers could be started
if members are interested in it, I'm not really. I can imagine how it will look like through the season.

Mclaren are having a really big clothing sale (see team website). A colour change for next season, perhaps? Mercedes silver going to Brawn? Or do McLaren do this every year? Maybe we'll get the orange MP4-25? Or maybe it will be Vodafone red and white (now Toyota aren't racing)?
They have a new clothing line each year. Better sell old merchandise cheaply, no one will be buying old gear next year.

Yeah "not impossible", weak isn't it. Hard to believe that it would be totally Martin's decision to allow Merc to supply Brawn and that Ron is now blaming him. All the signs are it's working out very well all round at McLaren the way it is.

After this year? MW has proved himself a good leader. That rumour is very stupid.
The only impact I could image, will be a new livery for the 25, if Mercedes leaves and paints the 'BGP' the 'silberpfeil'.

from james allen
http://www.jamesallenonf1.com/2009/11/braw...ws-next-season/According to Auto Motor und Sport, the deal for Mercedes to acquire 75% of Brawn, via its main shareholder Aabar, is in the closings stages and now it is a question of negotiation with McLaren as to whether Mercedes is able to rebrand the team starting next year.
Mercedes still has a contract with McLaren until the end of 2011 and McLaren-Mercedes sponsors, like Vodafone and Johnnie Walker are contracted forwards several years. So it is a question of what those deals are predicated upon, in terms of the look and feel of the cars, the branding and naming rights as to whether Mercedes can run its cars as Silver Arrows or whether this would be a conflict. There will be a deal to be struck as there will over the valuation of Mercedes 40% shareholding in the team.
It is ironic that this has largely come about because McLaren approved the last minute engine supply deal for Brawn as part of the FOTA spirit of brotherhood at the start of the year.
For Mercedes Brawn this represents a chance to start more or less afresh, cutting loose from the “scandals” of the last three years and conflicting road car projects. They want a controlling interest in a winning team and would never have got that from McLaren. This opportunity comes at a time when costs have been greatly reduced in F1.
I rang Mercedes today but a spokesman was only able to say what the company has been saying for some time, which is, “We have a long term commitment with McLaren and we don’t comment on rumours.”
They will supply engines to McLaren for two more seasons, but my understanding is that McLaren is trying to extend that until the end of 2012. There has been talk of McLaren making its own engine. The new McLaren road car has a McLaren badged engine which is being built for them by German engine specialist, Mahler.
Mercedes was given the all clear to supply a fourth F1 team, which it would like to be Red Bull, but they need McLaren approval to do so. That has not been forthcoming so far and it seems more likely that Red Bull will stay with Renault.

How in the hell¨s name would Martin be responsible for Brawn-Mercedes engines decision. IIRC, even Ross Brawn told that Ron was the "elderly statesman" behind that decision. What a stupid piece of journalism in AMus, and I thought that they are serious publisher.

MW is too soft. First he gave Brawn the Merc engine which is now resulting in the partnership splitting and then he joined FOTA with people who have backstabbed McLaren in the past and has given up KERS even though it's one major advantage McLaren has.

I had a feeling your post was gonna be annoying and ill-informed by just seeing your name.... I was right.
By the way, Ron probably had the last say if not directly involved in those 3 issues (esp. the first 2) u mentioned. So I guess Ron is the one too soft.
Do you guys think Mclaren will run without KERS in the test at Jerez in 3 weeks? I think we´ll probably see the "2010" FW that was tested the last GP weekends.
It will be intresting to see how many new parts teams will have on their cars, (if any at all)

Who Has The Best Simulator Now?
I think an advanced high performance simulator is more important now than ever before due to the lack of testing. The question is however, whichi team has the best one. McLaren seem to have held the mantel for years in this aspect, but I understand that Ferrari have or are installing sometime pretty special from Moog.

Whether it was Martin or Ron making those decisions, I think it's fair to say McLaren has gone too soft. They've been shafted over Mercs involvement in Brawn for no reason than altruism. Same with giving up KERS. IMO it demonstrates that the Todt/Ferrari "we're in it for ourselves" approach remains, sadly from a fan POV, the best way to succeed in F1.

How do you guys think that the narrow front tyres and big fuel tanks of 2010 will work with this?
Thought it more relevant here, so how will these new charateristics suit certain drivers such as Lewis and Kimi, or will the suit the smooth drivers such as Button?

Both Button and Raikkonen suffer from front tyre temp problems where as Hamilton doesn't.

In my simple mind as long as they match the axle weight to the tyre the car will turn in. If there's a lot of weight and tyre on the front axle it directly moves the mass sideways, if more of the weight and tyre is on the rear then the front has a mechanical advantage to lever it into yaw/rotating.
Well...interesting to hear the engineers on this please
