F1: Grand Prix (Motoring)
BBC 1 Midlands
Saturday, November 7th, 2009
1:00pm to 2:00pm (Other show times...)
Jenson Button's Glorious Season.
Jake Humphrey presents a look back at one of the most eventful seasons in Formula 1 history. Britain's Jenson Button held his nerve to clinch the title in Brazil after a mid-season dip in form. It was also a memorable season for his team Brawn, who won the constructors' title in their debut year. There was drama off the track, from Lewis Hamilton being found guilty of misleading the stewards in Australia to the Renault 'crashgate' scandal and the breakaway threats by some teams.

Not sure what interviews will be shown, presumably a extended Button and Barrichello interview - I know there was a Vettel one done on the Friday before Abu Dhabi.
Should be good anyway.

Thanks D.M.N.
I'd forgotten.
Cheers for the heads up but no thank you; personally i'm going to be getting wasted in anticipation of the Hayes/Valuez match later on via Box Office HD - had enough "F1" for this year and really can't wait for normal service to be resumed next year...
If there's such a thing

Ah, seen something advertised about that. Always get that ripped-off feeling with Sky though, I'd drop them altogether if I could get Eurosport1/2 any other way.

I'd love it to be cheaper, but can't say I've felt ripped off. I've always managed to get my boxes for free, or at a very low price. Sky+ is an excellent piece of kit which I would hate to be without now. Just need to get a HD box out of them without the HD sub. Will work on that once F1 goes HD.
Thanks for the reminder.....I've whacked this onto my Sky+ for today..
Much drinking to be done before the Haye fight, tonight. So the F1 programme can be watched before the United game tomorrow

Meh, well there's nothing else on TV anyway. But all this Brawn crap is boring as hell. We get it, it's a fairytale story that makes the medias job easy. Can we get over it and move on already.
I hate the human aspect of F1.

Brawn won both championships and you think a review of the year shouldn't concentrate on them?

Not really. I just think it's all crap. Alot of useless emotion and the same old shit that's being regurgitated ever since Brawn won their first race.

Personally, I'm very happy with the use that my license fee has been put to this year.
But there's always the off button if you're not.
And the international rugby union starts today too

Yeah don't get me wrong, the BBC coverage has been really good. Still doesn't mean I can't say all the crap about Brawn has annoyed me in some ways.

It's a review of the year, not a review of Brawn which was Honda pretty much. The novelty of it has totally worn off
I chose to give it a miss, an hour of Brawn/Button gloating would have been too much for me. The 2009 F1 season is not one that I want to be reminded of. I will probably watch it later on iPlayer when at least I can fast forward through all the Brawn stuff.
As someone said earlier, I hope normal service will be resumed next year.

I thought it was fairly good. It obviously focused on this years WDC and WCC winners who at the start of the season may not have even made it to the grid.
Hopefully they do as well next year

Oh please.... I wanted Hammy to do the job this year, but hey, sh#t happens. A good year none the less. Next year my prediction is a Hammy/Fred/Vettel battle. Can't wait.

The annual F1 DVD reviews are a load of ol' donkey toss. Particularly last year's effort which was Yawnsville and had practically no new footage at all.
Now, if they followed a similar format to the BBC's effort today, concentrated a bit more on the other 15 or so drivers and ramped it up to three hours, I'd certainly buy that for a dollar.
I liked it.
Good the way they divided Buttons season into the two parts and did the segments on the other contenders/scandals/crashes in between.
For those above that didnt see it - yes they showed a lot of Brawn and Button of course but it was not over the top and there was plenty of coverage of all the other issues/stories.
One of the best season reviews I have seen.

The program was titled "Jenson Button's Glorious Season.". You don't think there was something there giving away what it would be about?

How dare they have the temerity to mention the WDC's name in a show dedicated to him. Its just not right, it should have been all about Ferrari and McLaren.

I thought the BBC end of year review was excellent.
They isolated the years best shots and used them wisely.
They took the year's best story lines and made it into a sharp show.
What else could we want?

so far though my favourite shot shown so far in quite a few things is the Red Bull going over the kerb slightly in slow motion with the front wing wobbling (it was in the "red bull strikes back" part of the other thingerme-whatsit!)

I thought it was a great programme, captured the essence of the season well.
Although a lot of it was recycled (that brilliant intro was used for the Oz GP I seem to remember?) and most of the stories were used in other race shows, but it was edited together very well and flowed nicely.
Loved the montage at the end too.

since i was asked not to open a new ad-hoc thread in respect of the 2009 F1 review, I was asked to wack any existing or new F1 2009 Season Review in one of the previous topics.
I'll use this thread then which is somehow related

I have written my own season review. since i do not want to post a long thread, i'll post the URL:
http://ilcircoloeuropa.wordpress.com/2009/...-season-review/If i find any other reviews (or if you do), please use this topic. The links and views, the better!

The official review comes out on November 30th:
