only livery new mercedes will be rolled at the first test in february
QUOTE (Owen @ Jan 25 2010, 09:34)

It will be silver (like an old school West McLaren silver) with turquoise as an accent colour sparingly used (as in the wheel rims). It will be heavily branded Petronas with a few Brawn hanger on sponsors.
Any dramatic deviation from that, and I will be in for a surprise.
Ok, not surprised. Looks alright I think. Would definitely benefit from some decent lighting to show the thing off a bit more.
Yawn .... oh I meant ... oh Brawn ...... you make me Yawn,..
boring....

I like it, the Petronas green accents are great.
It would be great if Schumi holds his red helmet ;)

Actually it doesn't look bad in a silver car, and is definitely distinctive, but I expected he will change it. There's too much Ferrari-association with it.

Yeah, same.
It is basically a free ad for Ferrari isn't it?
Or Marlboro.

Of course he is a ferrari driver by heart. If he really had a choice between the 2 teams he would be driving for Ferrari.

I bet Norbert and Dr What's-his-face are mighty pissed off with the paintshop for leaving most of the car in primer.
How embarrassing!
Finally a proper Silberpfeil
like the green accents too.

This is a really minor thing, but I like that they have the racing number in a circle. I don't know why. Maybe it's because the old system of numbering was a large number painted in a white circle ... who knows? I just like it. I think it's a nice touch.

They've got the red numbers in a white circle that Mercedes used in 1954-5 as well. Nice nod to tradition.

In still images, the car doesn't get me too excited even though it does look nice.
I think that it will look very cool when the car is in motion though. It's a pretty sleek livery!

Okay, the full version of my thoughts on this (likely to be ignored by an influx of posts very shortly, but anyway):
I like it. And by that I mean I really like it. I think this is what a livery should be. It's not a moving billboard the way the ING Renaults were. It's simple, it's smart, and it's unassuming. If you look at the Renaults, you can count twenty ING decals on the sidepods and engine cowling alone. But here, it's not totally overpowering. It seems to have been designed around a less-is-more philosophy. I like that the only turquoise parts are the PETRONAS decals, and that the only red bits are the Aabar logos.
At the same time this livery is almost ... respectful. You can see the influence of their original teams in that silvery-white. The nosecone is a throwback to the West McLaren Mercedes designs of the late 1990s. And the wings mirrors are a carry-over from the Brawn. It's almost as if Mercedes are acknowledging the history associated with their name and the team they purchased. There's nothing here that interrupts the flow of the car's design, nothing that is jarring or out of place. It's a racing car with sponsor names on it, not a corporate platform that has been shaped into a racing car.
Bravo, Mercedes.
