Just personnel and livery.

So will Michael's helmet remain red?

It would appear so.

What a bummer.
f1rules

only livery new mercedes will be rolled at the first test in february

It will be silver (like an old school West McLaren silver) with turquoise as an accent colour sparingly used (as in the wheel rims). It will be heavily branded Petronas with a few Brawn hanger on sponsors.
Any dramatic deviation from that, and I will be in for a surprise.

Ok, not surprised. Looks alright I think. Would definitely benefit from some decent lighting to show the thing off a bit more.
Frans
Yawn .... oh I meant ... oh Brawn ...... you make me Yawn,..

boring....

Most fail livery presentation ever, twenty minutes later and people still don't know what they've been showed.

True biggrin.gif

I like it, the Petronas green accents are great.

It would be great if Schumi holds his red helmet ;)

Digged this up..

Actually it doesn't look bad in a silver car, and is definitely distinctive, but I expected he will change it. There's too much Ferrari-association with it.

That was my first thought when I saw the new car.

Yeah, same.

It is basically a free ad for Ferrari isn't it?

Or Marlboro.

Still too much light, but livery looks OK:

@alexandronov - yes it is hard to tell if the car is silver or white. Let's say it's white with a silvery sheen rather than McLaren silver

Of course he is a ferrari driver by heart. If he really had a choice between the 2 teams he would be driving for Ferrari.

The green looks horrible from that angle. It ruins the car.
johnmhinds
The car has No. 3 on the nose and No. 4 on the rear wing...
maverick69
I bet Norbert and Dr What's-his-face are mighty pissed off with the paintshop for leaving most of the car in primer.

How embarrassing!
JPW
Finally a proper Silberpfeil up.gif

like the green accents too.
f1rules
Why they didnt keep that carbon style confused.gif instead of this black, that look like its sprayed on with a can
Captain Tightpants
This is a really minor thing, but I like that they have the racing number in a circle. I don't know why. Maybe it's because the old system of numbering was a large number painted in a white circle ... who knows? I just like it. I think it's a nice touch.
alg7_munif
It's dull and boring, needs more green highlights.

Not any more.

He's a professional racing driver.

He goes where the opportunities are.

The Ferrari days are gone.

finally i must admit, that livery is very good
and i just realized, that my notebook is in mercedesgp livery too :-)
ensign14
They've got the red numbers in a white circle that Mercedes used in 1954-5 as well. Nice nod to tradition.
Psymon
I quite like the livery from what I've seen so far... Lets hope they can get some decent quality photos out soon!

Oh cool, I see it has slightly darker grey wavy stripes down the whole car.

Maybe if the hadn't fecked up the lighting people would have been able to see that.
Captain Tightpants
Ooh, the brushed silver effects:

Now some decent pictures are coming out, it actually looks pretty cool
Buttoneer
The brushed silver thing makes it look like the DTM cars they used recently.
Galko877
I think it doesn't look bad at all. Also I think Michael's red helmet will look cool in it (even if I expected something new because it reminds of Ferrari).
potmotr
Sutton has a good selection of photos now.

In still images, the car doesn't get me too excited even though it does look nice.

I think that it will look very cool when the car is in motion though. It's a pretty sleek livery! up.gif

Okay, the full version of my thoughts on this (likely to be ignored by an influx of posts very shortly, but anyway):

I like it. And by that I mean I really like it. I think this is what a livery should be. It's not a moving billboard the way the ING Renaults were. It's simple, it's smart, and it's unassuming. If you look at the Renaults, you can count twenty ING decals on the sidepods and engine cowling alone. But here, it's not totally overpowering. It seems to have been designed around a less-is-more philosophy. I like that the only turquoise parts are the PETRONAS decals, and that the only red bits are the Aabar logos.

At the same time this livery is almost ... respectful. You can see the influence of their original teams in that silvery-white. The nosecone is a throwback to the West McLaren Mercedes designs of the late 1990s. And the wings mirrors are a carry-over from the Brawn. It's almost as if Mercedes are acknowledging the history associated with their name and the team they purchased. There's nothing here that interrupts the flow of the car's design, nothing that is jarring or out of place. It's a racing car with sponsor names on it, not a corporate platform that has been shaped into a racing car.

Bravo, Mercedes.

But he still keeps the red helmet as a tribute to his favourite team of all time ;)
