So near, yet so far. Fry does seem a waste of space and salary.
salamin
just read it somewhere, that Fry will be replaced by the CEO of aabar, Mohamed Badawy Al Hussein (since aabar is holding 30 % of the shares)

Caroline McGory the legal representativ of MGP and Nigel Kerr (financial consultant), and other 2 names (yet unknown) are going to be replaced by experts from daimler.

Fry is said to be having contacts with lotus (replacing T. Fernandes)

He's freaking rich now though.

He and Brawn were co-owners of Brawn GP which was bought by Mercedes.

I'm sure he could happily sail off into the sunset.

If it is any consolation, in some cases titles don't mean much...

I for one am happy we don´t have to see Fry anymore - remember his ridiculous welcoming of Michael Schumacher that was posted on YouTube? "You made it through the rain, hahaha!"

looks like it's just the the re-org of the board members to reflect the Merc purchase. Don't think it impacts Fry still being CEO.

Edit: That is if the story is true. Sylt is hardly what I would call reliable or a journalist, much less a reliable journalist.

Much less a reliable journalist posting as a forum member.wink.gif

I do wish that he would come back here, along with bira, just to watch her smack him around a little more.

I actualy found Sylt very good on the financial aspects of F1.
He's one of the few journalists that understands all the links in Bernies companies.
When it comes to F1 ownerships and money flow, Sylt and Terry Lovell are tops in this area.

Mercedes is running a new diffuser or the old one?

If by understanding you mean speculating and drawing rather spurious conclusions then yeah, totally.

I don't think we'll see much new on the aero front until the last test before Bahrain.

I think link wording is a personal spin of what Dr. Zetsche actually said.
Galko877
I think today was a positive day for Mercedes at Jerez. I like the fact Michael did so many laps despite of the poor weather and IMO the lap times were good. Red Bull seemed a bit above everybody else today, but it could have been just their test program. Compared to McLaren and Ferrari Merc looked good today, IMO.

But of course it would have been good to see how much more laps Michael could have done in that long stint which was broken off by rain.
salamin
Michael Schumacher: “The weather was really changing all the time today which made it difficult to follow our planned programme and to have a clear picture of everyone’s performance. From the laps that we achieved, we have again confirmed the reliability of the car, and from the impressions and data gathered, we can say that the pace and performance looks very good. We have a strong basis to keep up the development this week here in Jerez and next week at the final test in Barcelona.”
ivand911
Michael was doing race simulation, when the rain start again.

Ross Brawn, not Fry, will need to manage that place. Man needs to be credible, if he is to succeed in that job.
Rambazamba
Michael is not an idiot and he usually talkes his chances down rather than up.
So when he says the car is capable to fight for the championship, it´s certainly no dog.
Hopefully both drivers get enough dry track time this week (today/tomorrow should be the worst days) and enough important data for the team.

It seems like Schumacher has been constantly running with harder compound tyres, whereas Ferrari goes for the softer option:
http://www.jamesallenonf1.com/2010/02/team...-plan-might-be/

If this is 100% accurate I'd say MGP is in good shape and should be up there right from the beginning when the new aero package is in place. Then again, it's only winter testing...

With the good weather forecast for this saturday. I'm glad Rosberg will finally have some decent dry time in the car.
So far he was dealt the wrong end of the stick by the weather gods.

I wonder what all the new fans of Mercedes GP think of this article.

to make such statements after just entering the sport just doesnt feel anyone with confidence... even if they hit the ground running, are they gonna bail when things get tough? and it will get tough..

matter of fact, Id put my money on Red Bull, Ferrari or Mclaren to win the title b4 MGP

Bit in Autosport (print) saying new aero package (new nose) to be introduced prior to Bahrain. Team hopeful this will turn car into contender for race wins right from the start.

14:31 Some good weather news for tomorrow, latest forecasts suggest conditions will dry up during Friday morning - and could then stay fine for the rest of the test.

As a matter of interest, are Merc still running those panels beside the airbox? You know, the ones leading to the (alleged) electronic cooling ducts?
ivand911
Yes, they use them.

I am sure the answer is on this or the last page! The front wing/diffuser is still based on last years car. We should see it at the next/last test in Barcelona.
MS7XWDC
i saw the wing part, but nothing about diffuser

Thats what I've been wondering - what if there is no definite 2010 diffuser..would love to be proven wrong in Barci but I am getting concerned if the definitive aero package for Bahrain might not have a 2010 diffuser...
Timstr11
LOL at this diffuser obsession.
ivand911
What is the white things on the Mercedes front brakes ? They drive with them yesterday morning.
http://f1.gpupdate.net/en/photolarge.php?p...&catID=4646
About diffuser if there isn't new one , they will just have to drive and fight with old one. And with this aero package the car is doing pretty well. I don't see other "extreme" diffusers to make big difference. And if there is a new one, how will they know which is better on the track?
Timstr11
Tape to cater for cooler conditions. Less brake cooling required.

QUOTE (ivand911 @ Feb 18 2010, 19:58) *
And if there is a new one, how will they know which is better on the track?
By doing back-to back tests, which is the normal procedure.
Teams also run load cells which measure downforce.

Mercedes must win to stay in F1 - Zetsche

http://www.f1reports.com/f1/article/4231/

I suspect there must still be some displeasure still being expressed by some powerful voices back at Stuttgart and Zetsche is throwing out these words to try and calm things down. This however does not mean these are not true statements and this may introduce some nervousness into some Mercedes F1 team members reading this.
