the on-line translations arent too clear though - hopefully MotoMatters will have a report on it tonight.
it was just the test riders today - actual riders from tomorrow

I want to see the new Yamaha livery really bad.

Anything to report yet? I know its just 'test rider' day and all, but its still basically the 'start' of the season.
Ninjastar
So there was a plethora of websites for the F1 testing times and live updates, but what about motogp, got any links?

Also, what time does it start?

It starts now. Anyways. Major disappointment waiting for a new livery ambivalent.gif

I'm thinking that MacZippy can have a word with Mrs Spies to let her son do similar and then he can put the pictures up here for us all to look at.

Perhaps with Miranda Kerr?

Hayden

I suppose starting from a base of .8 tenths of Stoner is better than last year, but its still hard to get excited about. Its pretty much where he was at much of the 2nd half of last season. I think getting closer than that is gonna start to get real tough.

Spies seems a tad slow.
ex Rhodie racer 2
Those times are a bit ominous, don´t you think? Valentino half second better than the rest? Let´s hope this is not a sign of things to come.
I can´t understand why the Hondas, and Pedrosa in particular, are so far down the field. I was expecting big things from them this year.
Atreiu
If it's a whole new bike compared to all of their 800cc bikes, it shouldn't be a simple case of Pedrosa jumping over it and breaking the time clocks right away.
Lazy Prodigy
Well imho this is valentino's best track next to Mugello. So Im not surprised he is .5 quicker. Im disappointed in Honda even though this is the first day. Look at where the satellite bikes are. No excuses for Pedrosa again this year. He has Ohlins, and has development control, Honda havnt put much effort in to the satellite bikes since the 800's come along moving all the attension to the the factory. Suzuki have been quick in test the last year or 2 only to fall off at the season.
Andy35
Well the Honda is new and it's only one day so I will be interested to see what the times are like today, perhaps they will make a good step forward. If they don't that might be more interesting. Good thing about bike testing you don't have to worry if they have 170 litres of fuel on board or just 1 .. so it's a bit more of a clue to relatrive performance than the cars.

Anyone got a lunchtime sheet of times yet? I always look but can never find them on the net frown.gif

Yours in anticipation *

Andy

Not trying to bash the guy, cuz I'm a huge fan of his, but it seem a bit unprofessional to be suffering from 'jet lag' during an important test. These guys fly all around the world over the season and it seems he'd have better preparation for this sort of thing. Anyways, minor complaint. Seems the guy is getting on with the pace, so all's well that ends well, right? smile.gif

It tells something about our obsession with motorsports that we see a line like that and immediately try and think what on earth Spies has to do with cyber attacks, even if just for a second. tongue.gif

These guys fly all around the world over the season and it seems he'd have better preparation for this sort of thing. Anyways, minor complaint. Seems the guy is getting on with the pace, so all's well that ends well, right? smile.gif

If he was fresh out of the USA I could nod my head with you, but as he has done a year of WSB perhaps it was down to something so mundane as his flight being cancelled? Or perhaps it is not jetlag but actually getting used to really hot humid temps and they misinterpreted it? Has he done equator riding before? As you say though, a point of interest rather than a stumbling block.

As a Rossi fan I can't say I am too unhappy currently ;) As he is normally better in the race than practice if he goes into the first race with still a 0.5 second gap that will be a concern for the other top guys. Still early days yet though of course though.

So far and i know it's only testing but to me it doesn't seem that the Ducati's big bang engine has brought a whole lot compared to their screamer. Maybe it's because of the track but it's still only Stoner up front, Hayden around 1 sec behind him and their further back the sattelite dukes.

Well thats my point. He's *done* this whole travel-around-the-world thing already in World Superbikes and you'd think he'd have been better prepared for his first official MotoGP test as a fully fledged MotoGP rider.

I know its nitpicking, I'm just surprised to hear it, because you rarely hear of anybody in the high levels of international motorsports that have compromised performances because of something like jetlag.

Hayden is always inching closer

He is?

Let me clarify. Not to the 4 but to Edwards, Dovi, Elias. Which is realistic for him.

Factory bike, running with the privateers is not an achievement.

I love Nicky, but if recent events are any indication, methinks his rookie countryman on the satellite Yam may make him look a bit silly by year's end.

An ominous start to the year for Honda. We are positive about the bike and great progress have been made. We are not worried about being so far back in testing. We have some improvements to make and we'll work on those.

From the last years it does not seem the bike is on pace, they ought to be worried, and the improvements either does not materialize or they are not greater than the improvements from the other manufacturer's.

Maybe the Honda engines will keep their performance up better than the others though, or not go bang as much? Could be the tortoise against the hare.

I think Nicky is not so bad, he's the top factory rider apart from the Yamaha semi works bikes, and to be honest at this stage I would expect Spies and Colin to be on more or less the same bikes as the Fiat team. I think he will edge closer through the year. They may even make a huge breakthrough and add something like this for him

sorry, couldn't help it. smile.gif

I'll be routing for him, even if beanoid has left him for a younger, more virile young man ... I like to see someone who works hard get the rewards even if they have not the most inborn skill.

Not dumping--just stating the bleedin' obvious.

Seeing as I know both their mums, I guess I'd better be careful. . . . eek.gif
