I think the pharao[?] Schutankamon should return now.

Todt, the buldozer is heading FIA and will run over everything and everyone in Schumy's path.
With Brawn helping on the technical side and Todt on the political dimension, Schumy is invencible.

Well-spotted. In fact, it may occur to Todt to give Schumacher the Sporting Commissioner role anyway. Much less paperwork. Schumi can rule on his infractions on the spot, even by radio. Todt's all about efficiency and transparency, right?

For whatever reason, despite the denials, this is gathering steam here and there...

Wouldn't mind seeing him back in the sport in any role. biggrin.gif

Here, lemme fan the flames of paranoia a bit more...

That Mercedes spokesman certainly could have just said "No, Schumacher coming to MB won't happen." but instead gives a sort of vague denial which could go either way.

Wili Webber confirms what Eddie Jordan said, that Schumi did meet with Mercedes Bosses.

So all in all, the speculation is at least built on something meaty enough to keep people talking.

Schumi is not ferrari consultant no more
Schumi said some weeks ago, his neck injuries are healing,

what words are used regarding his return, it's not right now, some years ago, it was I am happy in retirement, and I made a cecision, but this year changed that, and he's on never say never territory.

He might not return, but I can definately see enough signs to say it's not unlikely, and he surprised everyone this August by trying to fill in for Massa, but withouit testing, and years off, it was asking too much, aided with the injury, but that situation has gone, he's moving forward.

Ross Brawn being there, Mercedes being linked with his past, it's probably the only other team I could see him at other then ferrari, and he would of gone to mclaren perhaps if Ron Dennis wasn't around, maybe it's unifinished business, if he's up to it.

As much as I'm not a Schumacher fan, there is no doubt it would be good for the sport to have him back and would be good for Nico's development.
Lets hope it can be made to happen. I think the biggest indicator it just might is nobody has issued a straight up denial.
Maybe have heidfeld as reserve driver and if Schumacher's neck doesn't hold up during testing then give him the seat.

I wasn't giving him the role of Nico's mentor more a position of "watch and learn" because his expertise in setting up a car and areas to extract maximum performance would be invaluable. Lets face it, Nico wont have learnt much from Nakajima! lol.gif

As someone who is the same age as Mikey, Mika and Jacques "seniors" is what pisses me off about F1 these days. I school the 24 year olds at the velodrome these days in both race craft and stamina.

That is what is wrong with F1 is that people expire not on the racing but on the circus. I would honestly think these guys could get up to speed on the cars quickly and be fast.

Hungry is hungry. Regardless of age. Sure after 45 for normal folk the reflexes are starting to take serious work to keep on the knife edge but these guys have "it".

I have heard of Mika and Erja breaking up but not Mike and Corinna. Where do you have a credible link to Mika training for an F1 return? Hearsay?

Agreed. I think that drivers retire when they are older simply because they lose interest, and they want to move on and do something else with their life. I don't know if I'm as old as you are! (35), but I don't feel I've lost a damn thing yet. In fact I'll go so far to say I'm quicker than I was 10 years ago.

If the neck is recovered then it just comes down to the desire. I still can't see it happening, a stupid rumour. He has a role at Ferrari to keep him involved in the sport so why would he want to risk so much? His marriage, his health and wellbeing,? Just to prove he still can do it because he has no need of the money. Stupid stupid.

Michael on Mercedes,... I assume his neck shoul db by now ok.

Still, ... If Raikkonnen asks mony then it too much, while we seems to forget about the money that Michael got all through the year...
Now what do you think do Michael drive for Mercedes giving up nice diplomatic role for Ferrari till his life time for 3 million euro per year?

Money should not be an issue here IF there is a willing payer.

IMO Michael's diplomatic role for Ferrari is on contract-basis and not a life time.

kimi gets money next year for doing nothing at all so I guess he won't complain about lack of finances there smile.gif
MS as image still does more fore ferrari than the active drivers.
that is probably the biggest problem to see him racing for another team in the future. i doubt ferrari would let him go

Ross Brawn said in an Interview at Bild (22.11.09):

Schumacher will NOT drive a Silberpfeil

Asked about a comeback of Schumi at MercedesGP, Brawn answered:

This are only rumors which are wandering around in the media.
..he (Schumi) has no ambitions to start a new career

It would be disastrous for Nico's development. He'd have to play second fiddle to Schumacher for how long he is there, no matter how fast he is. Schumacher's position would be ensured by his best friend Brawn.

Second fiddle didn't work out too badly for Massa at Ferrari in 2006.

Haug refuses to rule out Schumacher
glorius&victorius
me trusts Brawn more in this whole story... and Haug seems to do more what is in the interest of Mercedes, that is to take the free publicity for the Mercedes brand (especially after considering their WDC driver walked away)

I honestly think that if Mercedes should choose among the available German drivers, Ralf Schumacher could make a comeback (would be a more popular choice and bigger name than Heidfeld).... not that I am a fan of Ralf smile.gif but it would surely generate more interest...

QUOTE (zarooch @ Nov 23 2009, 15:01) *

That's such an utterly ridiculous story. What it essentially says is that Haug has refused to rule out anyone at all. Even Michael Jackson's monkey hasn't been ruled out.

Cheap journalism.

Is Autotsport turning into a tabloid now?

"Haug refuses to rule out Schumacher" is surely intended to portray some sort of tanatalising possiblity that this might happen.

When actually Haug stated he cannot add to what Brawn said which is that it's just ridiculous media speculation.

The return of "The Wurst" to F1, would be surprise yes, but he surely not more popular than Heidfeld.

I would LOVE this to happen. Schuey in a Mercedes for a year would be awesome. He would win races and stir up the season, even if he wasnt a championship contender.

Sadly I think it has a cat in hells chance...

The only thing that is niggling me a bit in this whole thing is that Ferrari have said nothing. It doesn't do a lot for them, in fact it is advertising one of their competitors in the road car market. That I don't understand.
pacwest
It's just called journalism:

"When asked to categorically deny Schumacher could drive the car, Haug added: "When will you ever say categorically anything in F1? Ross made it quite clear and I really have nothing to add.""

It would have been far easier to say "No."

So the negotiation in on course, that is the analysis of this BB?

Very interesting if this is going to be true. I mean is not this better for michael to sit out rather than being replaced by other drIver next year? He cannot go on for ever and ever...
petercar41
i see it this way

.....Ferrari is saying to Schumi he is not going to join the F1 team ( for difrerent reasons ) and he´ll be dedicated to road cars, Schumi wants to be in F1 top level, if he is not driving he wants to take decisions in the team,he wants to be a important part of SF ( which is quite logical ) he does not care about Ferrari road cars, Ferrari as I said does not want him in the SF.....so here we go

MS: ok guys, you don´t want me here after all my history with SF so........ **** you and your road cars......i´m going to Mercedes....YES they want me......maybe to drive? cool.gif

MercedesGP : Schumi+Nico if not
MercedesGP : Nico+Pedro

Back on topic - The Haug story is not a story, and I'm surprised at AutoSport sensationalising a non-story.

A Raikkonen-Mercedes combination wouldn't necessarily be successful. We have two entities coming from very different backgrounds here; A small, independent team who signify the new period of austerity in Formula 1 against an old-school, big bucks-era driver who isn't famed for his outstanding team-work. Even with Mercedes money, would Ross Brawn sanction the huge amounts of money that Raikkonen will inevitably ask for?
