Because Brawn and Schumacher would dominate F1 like the good old days of Ferrari.

Only if Ross Brawn can get Rory Byrne onboard also. Then everybody is in big trouble tongue.gif

Trouble is unlike Maranello, Paris is out of helicopter range of his holiday mini-castle in Sirmione

Though he is not on the F1 consultancy, Schumi just renewed a road car contract with Ferrari -
How on earth would he then have a MGP drive?
Silver Surfer
The Chin still wants to race as was evident by his quick decision to jump in to help Ferrari, and replace the injured Massa. His comments stating he retired too soon to make sure Felipe kept his race seat, his wife stating she will leave him if he continues racing, and the knowledge that he is still better than 99% of the drivers on the grid. Ross Brawn, Michael Schumacher, Mercedes Benz......maybe...... eek.gif This is the silly season after all! cat.gif

lolz @ britney's face roflmao.gif lol.gif

i guess Brawn must've called schumi about a race drive, mmm meh` well ok, he might just have joked about it. Just to start a thought process in schumi's head.

I think if schumi is gonna drive in f1 at all, lets cross out the teams:
1. McLaren ? No.
2. Ferrari? No, I don't see it now that they have Nando.
3. RedBull? Naa... we already have 2011 Kimi coming back speculation
4. Williams? What?
5. Toro-Rosso? Forget it.
6. Force India? Yea Right! rolleyes.gif
7. Any of the new teams? Are you serious?
.
.
. well guess what? which team is left out?
aha!
8. Team F1 Mercedes-Benz GP. And Yes, I 'speculate' that he might drive there.

Brawn are an unproven team, with Merc on board they have taken a good step towards stability but i'd need to see a couple of competitive back to back seasons before i accept them as a top team. There's more top flight talent these days than at any point in MS's career and i just don't see schumacher wanting to take on the likes of Vettel, Kubica, Hamilton, Alonso etc in an unproven team.

It is certainly true that the top drivers are all much closer together now than in schumi's time. But whether this is because it so happened that all of the other drivers in his time were more rubbish than normal or because he was better than the normal top drivers is another question. Put away your hate for just a second and ask which is more likely

I would absolutely love it so much that I'll go to every GP possible next year if this were to happen....heres hoping

I don't think paying him big is an issue for sponsors / Mercedez.

Brawn takes WDC and WCC this year beating McLaren and Ferrari. I would say the chances to repeat it is bigger than say, Williams F1 team to win the championship next year.

Let I name a few more top flight talent these days: Massa, Rubens, Kimi, Jenson, And may be we could add MW, NR & NH. There are about 11 top flight talent, half of the grid, since MS left. What it does tell you?

On this topic, I don't see why Ferrari would allow him race anywhere.

The prospect of Michael returning is definitely pretty interesting! I'm sure that it's unlikely, but it's damn fun speculation.

The way this silly season's going, you could tell me Prost is making a come back and I wouldn't completely dismiss it.

Who is building the Schumi Towers in Abu Dhabi and elsewhere? Could it be Aabar?

Frankly I think Schumi would be in better stead commerciallyt in retirement after a short two year stint and 1 WDC with Mercedes, than any commercial relationship with Ferrari. There's just more opportunity.

I do so hope.

Also wouldn't be too surprised to see Massa be a bit crap next year and Kimi return to Ferrari in 2011 or sooner, after Kubi disappoints at Renault.

Schumacher making a return to Formula one would invigorate the sport.

Schumacher returning to Formula one in a Mercedes, with Ross Brawn, in a top-line competitive team with the best engine, would be simply incredible.

To see him dicing with Alonso, Hamilton and co would be superb. And dont think for one moment that he isnt capable- even at his age. His experience, let alone the personnel and sponsorship he would attract would bring incredible value to Mercedes.

Heres hoping...

I cant see the point of a comeback.
nordschleife

Let me toss this into the mix :

Montezemolo's effort toward securing permission from FOTA to run a third car was certainly based on his intention to provide it for Schumacher. Interestingly, this effort occurred AFTER he declined to substitute at Valencia. So why would he do so if he was under the impression that Schumacher COULDN'T race a third car? Montezemolo wouldn't have pressed for it in that case. He must have been convinced that Michael COULD race again. Maybe not until 2010 but still that timeline works. So that makes me think that Norbert has reason to ask Michael, "Can we talk?"

Yeah, it would be a bombshell. But I'd still take Kubica.

Kimi who?

I haven´t supported any one single driver since MS left F1, but that will all change if the champ decides to come back in order to give this present lot a few driving lessons. Rosberg could have no better tutor.

Ross Brawn said to Jamesallenonf1 that Schumy prefers to satay contracted to Ferrari, then he can wait until December to see if Renault leaves and releases Kubi, and if everything else fails, Heidfeld can wait.

Michael Schumacher has been sounded out about a sensational return to Formula One next season:

Michael Schumacher would have won every race on the calendar in a Minardi, so he should no problems about coming back to Mercedes and immediately winning the title at the first go.

And if he doesn't, he'll be a failure. cat.gif

If Brawn can't even manage to retain their current driver, who was vocal about wanting to stay for months, and whom they delivered a world championship to, how are they going to manage something like luring Schumi away from Ferrari?

Schumacher does have previous relationships with Brawn and Mercedes at various points in his career.... stoned.gif

As another poster has previously said, even though MS won't have an F1 advisory role he will still be involved in road car development.. So basically whichever website is trying to suggest that MS is dropping his advisory role because he is going to Merc GP, is just stating half of the truth. As far as i remember this was planned a long time ago, so there's nothing surprising about MS changing his role within Ferrari and unless he leaves Ferrari entirely, i seriously doubt he will join Merc GP.

As I've said, the moment he pulled out of his comeback, he was still working out and getting his neck to shape.

This states no surprise, Kimi or him in a Brawn, would be a DREAM season no matter if you hate em or not.

If he does sign up for a drive next year, I think they are going to need to give him a car with 4 pedals and the 4th pedal will have to be very long - all the way to his neck. Some kind of neck wedge against the car's head rest.
Szoelloe
bbc covering a story on EJ hearsay? wow.
HP
Being a Schumacher fan myself it'd be great if he decides to race again.

But I still think that we better learn how to let go, because it seems to me that fans are often to demanding. I don't expect MS to be on top of his game instantly, and that would be cannon fodder for the Anti-MS gang.

The reason I think MS wouldn't be on top instantly is when I look what happened when Mika Hakkinen jumped in a McLaren for a test after being away for a few years. Mika was IIRC at least 2 seconds slower than the regular drivers. And I don't see any reason that nature itself would be any kinder to MS.

I don´t find this very interesting. The article mentions a punch of drivers possible Merc GP-drivers without mentioning Kimi as one possibility. Somehow it seems that english media is´n the one to trust? Sorry if I´m wrong.

Still, its nice to talk about it though, isn't it?

(this time though, I won't believe it until I actually see him in the car in Bahrain 2010!)

Some seem to forget that EJ hired Schumi for his first drive. I'm sure that EJ is plugged into some truth in the paddock. He's not an outsider pundit as some would believe.

I must admit, ButHam and Macca, CGB at McBrawn with ?? and a JVi possibility in USF1 makes me shiver. Plus Williams with a Cossie engine. 2010 is shaping up to be magnificent.

Dare to dream.

4 days ago i sensed the schumi to merc 'speculation' and today even BBC has picked that up:
here it is...
http://forums.autosport.com/index.php?show...p;#entry3995160

lol.gif well I guess if Schumi wants to come back, Mercedes is the only realistic option.
glorius&victorius
i just listened to EJ interview on bbc website... he seems to base all his thinking on having witnessed Mercedes Chief, Ross and MS in "deep conversation".... wonder whether that can all be extracted from witnessing a deep conversation... but then again.. what else could that deep conversation be about.. perhaps something other than F1...?

let's say for now its EJ speculating... and i'll just wait and see... but i dont see MS being unfit for the drive. it would be the incredible MS at work if he comes back...

My google news feed has been screaming "Schumacher fired by Ferrari" for a week. People should be able to put two and two together regarding MS stepping down from Massa's groomer position.

Felipe is on his own and I predict this is his last year at Ferrari.

Schumacher will take one last kick at the can (or two) until Vettel gets there. May even partner with him for a season and then go back to the Merc pit wall.

Or I'm wrong.
zarooch
yea I agree with the above^, I think 2 year deal will be done, 2010 and ~ 2011, at the end of 2011 Vettel's contract ends with RedBull, so at that time schumi can re-evaluate his position and they can either let go rosberg or schumi ... and bring in vettel.
hobbes
I thought MS simply changed his role as at Ferrari and now he is involved in developing road cars only. Wasn't this planned some time ago?
