If they got Kimi? Yea, that would be the understatement of the year

But can someone tell me why Kimi should not sign with Merc? The Autosport article says that Kimi would only join if the team could convince him the car will be good enough to fight for race wins and the world championship. But how does one convince Kimi or anyone for that matter about something like that? How can you prove that their car will be at the top? You can always be shown windtunnel figures and simulation - but you could never know if a couple of other teams hasnt got that little edge over you. And that would go for McLaren and Ferrari too.
Here is what I think: Kimi would be foolish not to sign with Mercedes. Even if it isnt the one he will win another championship with, it will be so much easier getting into a top seat for 2011 than if he took one year off. He said he wants a car that can win races. Umm, that team won 8 races or something last year didnt they? There is Mercedes money there. They have the best engine and there is no Ron and no danger of Lewis favorism. What else does he want is what I am asking.. Button signing for McLaren could be a blessing in disguise for Raikkonen. And if he doesnt take it I will be... lets just say that I will be cranky.
Couldn't agree more Desdi !
BUT :
Now, as far as proof of race winner goes, i think what Robertson means with proof is definitely not guarantee. It's just a matter of giving Kimi insights into the development plans of the team for next year's car, what's the status now, and what are we up to, who are the key team members at which key positions, both in terms of car development as race engineers, etc... etc... Usually all of that is done under strict NDA, and one should understand of course that NO team, and definitely not Brawn himself, is ever going to be that stupid to provide any outsider with any of the REAL secrets they have up their sleeve. Not to Kimi either ! Contradiction? Paradox?
SO :
Let me tell you what's happening :
This is just Robertson hinting at Brawn : hey, Kimi's willing to drive for you. (not to say he's actually desperate now!) And he'd do it for close to no money at all, since he's got the money already.
But, since some weeks ago you publicly turned you back on me by claiming you can't afford me because according to you i wrongly negotiate as if i never got the Ferrari money, (and that pi...ed me off a bit!!) I am not the one who's going to kneel and beg for a drive in your team ! So i just HINT at you and i want YOU to consider that hint and YOU to take the initiative this time...
They're even adding to that : We want YOU to show US proof of your competitiveness !!
Ok, i agree, maybe my scenario here sounds a bit too Melrose Place like... But bottomline for me is clear, this is a message in a bottle, thrown in the sea, by a desperate and lost team Raikkonen who's suddenly realized what situation they've put themselves in !
I mean, personaly, as i don't believe this is going to happen AT ALL, as a fan of his, i would really have preferred Robertson never to make this statement, because this now only confirms what most of Kimi bashers were saying ! And i hate admitting those right...
