In the interview with Robertson he didn't say specifically that they were in touch with Mercedes:

Q. Are there any ongoing talks with F1 teams right now? There has been speculation that Kimi could take the Mercedes GP seat vacated by Jenson Button.
SR: This is Formula 1. If they can offer, or convince us, that they can provide Kimi an opportunity that Kimi is happy with, and that we are happy with, and he feels he can win races and the championship then never say never. There is always a possibility.
Of course, that doesn't mean there hasn't been contact between Mercedes and Kimi/Robertson, but if there has they've not admitted as such yet.
If he does sign for Mercedes then it'll definitely add to the growing number of questions that I'm looking forward to finding out the answers for about how things are going to go next season!
