In 2009 the rules shake up was big enough to allow a surprise team to fight at the top. What shocked us most was that neither Ferrari, or Mclaren was fighting at the top, against any of the teams that interpreted the regs fully and built a fast car. Next year I cannot envisage Brawn and Red Bull, starting the 2010 season with the kind of advantage they enjoyed this year. With all things equal and the drivers being the defining factor. I just cant see a combination of Rosberg and Heidfeld, making that all important difference IMO.

Most of Brazilian press is crap, especially Sport Press, but what can you say about that in countries like England, Spain or Italy? IMHO the leading Motorsport journalists in Brazil are Reginaldo Leme, Flavio Gomes and Teo José. You can pretty much forget about the rest.

mmm... not so sure... i remember reading a Brawn interview not so long ago where he explains they were at SUCH a technological advantage at the start of the year, and eventually still in the middle of the year, that they were able, again, to start developing their 2010 car way before many other teams...

You know what is real problem for Brawn and Haug? They have to win next year and more often if they don't want end like Honda-BMW-Toyota. Because many many millions bucks for nothing aren't what shareholders wants to see.

I don't agree. Brawn's title push impacted on their 2010 programme. There are 3 top teams concentrating on next year since Hungary!

Not to mention Kimi would probably suffer Button's same problems if the team's aero philosophy is retained...

brawn havent had any updates from mid season.ive read a direct quote somewhere that midway thru,when button was leading comfortably,they realized it was going to be enough to succeed this season and started development on the 2010 project.

Well the story may or may not be true but the essence of it is believable in as much as there is one free top line seat and one free topline driver to fill it. It obviously may or may not happen, I tend to always think of those "x signs for y" stories as indications of ongoing negotiations rather than finalized deals till the parties themselves verify them but ... it's more realistic than the Schumacher to Mercedes story.

As an F1 fan obviously I 'd like to see Raikkonen in Brawn, both because it will make for an interesting championship (Vettel vs Hamilton vs Alonso vs Raikkonen all in decent cars) AND it will answer the nagging question I 've been having for a couple of seasons: Just how quick Rosberg is

That's an oxymoron. By taking a sabbatical it means by definition that he does indeed want to remain in F1 but take a years break, a pause for whatever reason. Everything Kimi and his management have said and done all indicates that Kimi want to be in F1, everything from fierce negotiations to stating that Kimi has 'unfinished business' in Formula One.

He was about at the same level as Kovy in GP2.

Flávio Gomes is the leading twat. All he ever does is moan and complain about this that and the other. He doesn't like F1, he likes rusty cars and socialism.

It does seem a natural fit and I can't help but think it gives Mercedes a much better chance of winning. Rosberg is certainly competent, as is Heidfeld, but I don't think they type to lift a mediocre car up the grid. Not that Mercedes will neccessarliy be mediocre, but I doubt thye will have the technical dominance of this year.

As for the German/German thing- it is better marketing to win with anyone than lose with a countryman.

Raikkonen will Negotiate with Mercedes GP

Norbert Haug has confirmed that Kimi's managers have called to Mercedes GP's Nick Fry to open negotiations.

"This is normal behaviour as long as there's a seat to be filled. Other drivers and their representatives have done the same. No decisions has been made yet" says Haug.
