Raikkonen will Negotiate with Mercedes GP19.11.2009
Norbert Haug has confirmed that Kimi's managers have called to Mercedes GP's Nick Fry to open negotiations.
"This is normal behaviour as long as there's a seat to be filled. Other drivers and their representatives have done the same. No decisions has been made yet" says Haug.
http://www.hs.fi/urheilu/formula1/artikkel...a/1135250885855 good to know robertson has officially contacted haug.
merc would want raikkonen.there no way brawn would be happy facing RB,mclaren and ferrari with a rosberg/heidfeld combo.if the robertsons have contacted them, means kimi is interested.i have a feeling this will again come down to how much merc are willing to spend.
robertson and kimi's recent comments are clearly trying to convey the message that this isnt so desperate for him.in other words, give us an attractive deal or we've off....haug seems to be playing the same game too.its an egotrip
hope this works out.

Both, Heidfeld and Rosberg, proved to be reliable in terms of collecting points and being there to grab a podium when there's an opportunity. (ye I know, Rosberg in Singapore...). Unlike the guys currently confirmed at McLaren, Ferrari and Red Bull, neither of Mercedes' rumoured drivers has ever won a Grand Prix... but neither of them ever had the car to do so either.
After all, Rosberg/Heidfeld dosn't look - or rather sound... - that strong, but, given the right car, imo both of them are capable of winning races.
Though I'd rate Hamilton, Alonso and Vettel higher than Rosberg and Heidfeld.

before Button's Mclaren contract was announced.

Sorry but if they end up with Rosberg and Heidfeld then it's a unmitigated disaster for Mercedes. Heidfeld is a solid no.2 journeyman collector, but he lacks the killer instinct, and Rosberg has shown some promise but he is not that quick, again not the killer instinct that you associate with the top drivers. They are both good no.2, but neither are team leaders, neither have won a grand prix. Brawn's handling of the Button/Barrichello situation has just be a complete lesson in how to destroy a winning F1 team. Mercedes must feel real silly buying into what they thought was a WDC/WCC team, but which in effect looks more like a midfield team, but they have only themselves to blame with all the meddling they have done.

Brawn GP experimenting with shark fin has something to do with serious updates such as new aerodynamic package, new suspensions or gearbox, floor - you are wrong. Even Ferrari did some aero tuning for Monza although they had already stop working on current car.

UPDATE: More quotes from the original report from Lito. He was apparently phoning the report.
“It (Kimi's signing to Mercedes) is coming from Brawn losing Button, a McLaren vengeance that left Mercedes with Nico Rosberg and Nick Heidfeld, almost nothing”.
“Rosberg and Heidfeld have not one win, too little for a team which had a world champion with them. And the way it (Mercedes) was leaving McLaren, they (McLaren) couldn't resist giving this back, taking Button out of there. Robertson, his manager, is finishing up the details, but they are already in agreement.“
