Bit early, i'll wait until all the cars are lunched before beginning to predict anything.

Why do you need to know what each car looks like? You don't know anything about how the designs of each car makes it go faster.

There's already a couple of threads asking for 2010 predictions but i'll post my top 10 here having seen the first testing session.

I missed the 0 off the end, 370. I should have corrected that, I wouldn't want to anything to suggest a lack of credibility in my prediction.

Disagree. Don't yet know how competitive the car or team is for this year.

Your bet, not mine. Macs longrun pace was as least as good as Ferrari's, Merc is getting a completely new package incl. diffusor, you didn't even see Redbull's RB6 and Massa is neither a dog (like Piquet..).

There's a lack of credibility in your prediction because the maximum score will be 475 points.

Far too early people. Ferrari were good this week, but they were on qualifying run-like fuel loads when they set their times. Merc had some slight understeer, but nothing special and which can not be fixed before Bahrain. Add to that that there are still considerable aero updates coming for some, including Renault and Mercedes. Red Bull has not even started yet. Start over this in April.

KWSN - DSM
Once more time have come for the predictions of a season, and a couple of Championships.

2010 will re-introduce full tank racing, which surely will lead to both heartache and joy during races.

Testing have been cut down, and every team have stated themselves satisfied, and feeling they were doing good. This I believe to an extent, however it will fast become clear on track who was right and who was wrong.

As far as I can gather from testing, then there is a very substantial drop in times between a low fuel qualifying run, and race pace. Obvious that with 180 liters of fuel in the tank to start the race, the cars are bound to be slower, however even on fresh tires and semi low fuel levels, seem that the drop off is markedly lower.

The teams and drivers must learn to set a car up able to handle a low fuel qualifying run, while preparing for a heavy race. This was Prost's great quality in his day, and I will expect at least 1 driver to show himself very capable in this department.

We still have 2 teams which may or may not show in Bahrain, however there is no reason to think that they will be anywhere near race winning pace, we can see with both Lotus and Virgin that a steep learning curve is part of entering F1, and both Campos Meta1 and USF1 are planning a 'lower' (in my view) level of talent driver wise, and the are in their current mess due not having the needed funds, which is not the way to move forward either.

In general my season predictions have fallen somewhat of the mark the last couple of years, so at the end of 2010, some of what I predict will surely not come to pass.

Drivers who could shine

Massa
Button
Buemi

I think they will be able to handle their cars through a race, and lose less speed than their team mates, and I expect that their cars are strong enough to be in the mix.

Driver who could 'struggle'

Hamilton
Schumacher
Rosberg
Vettel
Webber

I 'quote' struggle, as it is relative and not for the same reasons.

Hamilton and Schumacher I think may be too hard on their tires, and will see a huge drop-off towards the end of the race, however they are at the same time among the top 3 talent wise on the grid, which will possibly place them in the race so they can 'ease' and still win.

Rosberg I am uncertain of, my feeling is that he is not polished enough, meaning that he will not put down the metronomic laps needed, and he will not have the 'sprints' from the refueling era to compensate for that.

Vettel and Webber will have speed and heartbreak, I will sound as a broken record, but testing indicate that Newey have once again designed a very fast, yet fragile car. When the Red Bull does not break down, I will expect it to mix it at the front, but it will break too much for either to take the WDC.

There is no common consensus, as to which cars will be fast, which engines will be thirsty, except seems that every one mention Ferrari as the team to beat.

I am a little concerned that Ferrari can find themselves in a situation where Massa is too close to Alonso, and that to be detrimental to the atmosphere in the team, I see Alonso as a better driver, but Massa have the past seasons shown himself to be a much much better driver than what many thought of him the first couple of seasons he was in F1, and I have a feeling he may find the heavy towards light cars exactly what he needs to decrease the difference there may be up to Alonso.

Basically see the same situation play out at McLaren with Hamilton the better driver, Button the one who can handle the car / tires better.

The testing and testing times have been argued and discussed in depth, and seemingly every one have read into them what they wanted to read, primarily based on team likes and dislikes.

I expect close races most of the season, and I expect there will be at least 6 different winners of a Grand Prix.

Ok... Well, I've studied pre-season testing and comment to the best of my ability and on past form I'm expecting to get some parts bang on and some parts horendously wrong!!!

I think the evidence is that the suspected 'top 4' teams (Ferrari, McLaren, Red Bull and Merc) will lead the way, over a race distance and over a championship, but rather like 2009, I expect the top 15 ish to be separated by a very small margin - so expect the likes of Williams, Force India and Sauber to be in the mix during qualifying and the odd stand out race performance.

But over a season, the big 4 will win the development race and perhaps this is where the infrastructure and ability of Ferrari and perhaps to a greater extent McLaren (based on 2009 anyhow) will tell over Red Bull and Merc. There has to also be a question mark over the Red Bull reliability and the ability for Ferrari to maintain driver harmony. That said, Ross Brawns tactical ability is likely to emerge pivotal in some races due to the new rules.

But all in all I can see least reason to be pessimistic for McLarens chances and as this will be the first Championship they have participated in recent times, not under the Max's governance, I think they can at last concentrate fully on motor racing.

So my guess is that whilst Ferrari may lead the way in the Championship initially, and Red Bull and Merc will be in it too - I think the Championship will ultimately come down to a straight fight between Hamilton and Button, perhaps Schumacher mixing it in their too - IF Brawn can develop the car sufficiently and they are a touch better than they have looked in testing (which I think may be the case come the Bahrain package).

The winner? Button. or Hamilton. My head says Hamilton but my heart says Button.

Button.

ps. Hopefully anyone who has a dig at these guesses will be man enough to offer their own predictions!
McDutch
I sure hope that McLaren will be strong, and from the tests it seems to be. I expect Ferrari to be strong as well. Testing sessions showed a surprisingly good performing Williams, Force India and Sauber. Toro Rosso and Renault couldn't make a big impression. Leaving Mercedes and Red Bull, and they seem to be strong enough to compete with McLaren and Ferrari.
I wouldn't be surprised if Red Bull took the constructor's title, but I am afraid Ferrari will leave the grid with it. I agree with someone in an earlier post that the Ferrari-drivers will take to much of each other points to let either one of them win the driver's title.
Wishful thinking would bring me to the prediction as follows:

Driver's Championship

1. Hamilton
2. Alonso
3. Vettel
4. Massa
5. Barrichello
6. Webber
7. Button
8. Schumacher
9. Sutil
10. Kubica
11. Kobayashi
12. Rosberg
13. Hulkenberg
14. Liuzzi
15. Buemi
16. Petrov
17. Alguersuari
18. De La Rosa
19. Kovalainen
20. Glock
21. Trulli
22. Di Grassi
23. Senna
24. Lopez (driving for Campos, US F1 didn't make it)

Constructors championship
1. Ferrari
2. Red Bull
3. McLaren
4. Williams
5. Mercedes
6. Force India
7. Sauber
8. Renault
9. Toro Rosso
10. Lotus
11. Virgin
12. Campos
US F1 didn't make it this season

But it will be tight on both championships, so we are heading for a spectacular season! I'm looking forward to it like I've never looked forward to a new season. Usualy pre-season testing made more clear wich teams were stronger than others, but this time it's all so close...
dabrasco
I got a feeling it will be Alonso and Hamilton leading the way in a straight fight, with Button, Massa, Vettel and Schumi close behind within striking distance.

At the end, my heart says Hamilton....my head says, it will be one of the drivers from the top 4 teams biggrin.gif

My head says Alonso

My guesstimation tells me it'll be Alonso WDC followed by Hamilton and Vettel.
But I'd rather have it Hamilton followed by Massa and Button.
