I have noticed the New Zealand Historic Association has a new class called Superhistoric. I believe this caters for many of the open wheel race cars there may be no category for as yet.
From what I understand the class is open to F1, F5000, F Atlantic, F2, F Holden, F3000 and other similar classes.
Would anyone know if Australia may be looking to do the same thing.

Some of those cars are included in Group R, but generally only up to 1986 cars...

There are many FAtlantic cars running here.

You are quite right Ray, the new class may however give some f holden drivers with early cars a chance to race at historic meetings instead of club meets.
Too many of these cars are tucked away in sheds, and it just might be the incentive needed for these guys to race then again.

At the expense, as ever, of diversifying the sport even further...

I know, the alternative is that they remain locked up. But is there really room for more and more classes?

Your right Ray we dont need any more classes, and one wonders what class f holden will eventually combine with, if any.
Maybe they can run with F5000 and F Atlantic. I know this wont please some people, but what is the alternative, it was hard to get a decent field of these cars for many years.

I don't think the application of classes in NZ, which has a relatively small population of obsolete race cars, should be taken as being viable for countries with more cars

Agreed, I think Super Historics is basically a class for "wings and slicks" cars, which could include F.Atlantic, F3, F.Holden, sports cars and F5000 when they are not having their own race series.

N.Z. has basically two historic classes with all earlier open wheel and sports cars running together in one "historic" class, and all wings and slicks cars running in a "super historic" class.

Leigh Turner is getting a new motor installed after blowing it up a few weekends ago

Russel Sewell needs someone to get a car sorted for him. (lot of work there) Car didnt do much running on friday saturday or sunday this weekend!
