I have a particular curiousity about 1950s Australian touring car racing, and realised I know so little about these 2 cars, which apparently had the essentials transplanted from the former to the latter.
The story goes that when Repco found out what Charlie Dean was doing with their research vehicle on the weekends they ordered him to desist immediately, whence Peugeot Bob Holden was given the running gear to use as long as he provided the vehicle to drop it into. One purchase of a high-mileage Holden later, and Bob started mixing it with the big boys at the pointy end.
For one of the front-running cars, I know very little about the developments done to these cars apart from running the usual Repco High-Power head and bolting in another (second-hand) crank on the Friday night prior to a race meeting.
Can anyone else shed light on the rest of the running-gear used? I don't even know what gearbox was used, presumably a four-speed.

Bob would soon tell you...
Most likely a Jag or MG TC box. Though some people used Rover boxes behind Holden engines.

I had read of French's Jag box and Leo's MG, but the Rover box is one I hadn't heard of.

There is an article on the car in the Oct 58 Sports Car World, but it does not mention the gearbox.
It does list some pretty impressive improvements in times.

Thank you both. I will have to track down a copy of the SCW issue.
