It was strange Dean Askin winning. He could not ride with dropped handle bars.He sold the bike without ever racing it.Heard he tried tuning handle bars up the other way without success.

How about this one then.

Seem to remember when this bike turned up at the TT in 82; it caused much of a stir with the bosses from both Suzuki and Honda, pictures and notes taken by Japanese. By the time of the second practice the cat was out of the bag this thing could win.
In the end it came third in f1 but that was down to the tank size, every one else could change for bigger units. Pity it would have been nice to see David beat rising sun goliaths
Still one of the best hand crafted machines to blast through the island!!

Yet another testament to the panelbeating skills of Steve Roberts. Later incarnations of these Coleman Suzukis were ridden by Robert Holden as well. Roberts is still about, knocking out Manx tanks for Ken McIntosh these days.

Cant believe I'd forgotten it was Ditchburn. He was running a Kawasaki franchise near me in Northfleet before he wizzed off to Oz. Was probably more used to seeing him on green Kawasaki's and Ted Broad Yamaha's.
Here's a little bunch to sort out, cant work out the two on the outside.

I honestly thought Gardner had 2 bikes that season. A naked one (a la Croz) for the unlimited races and a (fully faired, red number plated) F1 bike?
Or is my memory playing tricks?

Anyone got a photo of them both in the pits together?
