Well I've just got round to scanning some pics from my collection, taken mostly at Brands in the 70's and 80's. Several of these riders I can no longer identify, so maybe there is someone out there who can? I'll post a new picture every few days, of course, I cant tell whether your knowledge, or guess is correct, but you might like seeing the pictures anyway, so here goes.

Ooops, you right Graham! blush.gif

I would have lost my shirt on that one! cat.gif

Well that looks pretty conclusive, thanks. Must admit I've completely forgotten the name. I tended to take pics of the riders who were doing well on the day but never made any notes. Of course, a lot of them are very obvious ie. Sheene, Marshall, Grant, Dunlop, Haslem etc. But many others escape my memory. So here's another, this looks too easy with the name on the helmet ........ but I cant get the other name.

Ivan Gray.

Franco Uncini '82 ?

up.gif WORLD CHAMPION....Now MOTO GP saftey officer !!
picblanc
Franco at Brands Powerbike Int, he had just won the 500cc title, & here he was at Brands, can you imagine Rossi doing the same? I dont think so!! ohwell.gif
pushstart
Well how about that, how could I have forgotten him! Yes it's odd isn't it, we used to be able to go to Brands and see Ago, Read, etc. Now the GP (sorry MotoGP) stars are nowhere to be seen outside the championship circus. Is it pressure or money, or maybe both! Anyway it's still a shame. These pics aren't my best, in fact they're in a pile I was going to throw away as i felt I needed to reduce my photo collection.
I'll post another one a bit later.
picblanc
Dont throw them away!! eek.gif
pushstart
Well, scanning them will in some way save them anyway. Here's the next one then.

Steve Williams.

Thanks. Don't know how you've remembered all these. So here's one more, not many clues on this one. I'll be away for a couple of days so see you the other side of the weekend.

That's right he was, in 81 i think, he took his "prize", a new Rotax to Brands for an end of season Bemsee meet. It was p*****g down with rain and i was a bit of a wet weather man so we had a great scrap. I was very confident about beating him and had one or two places in mind to overtake and pull away then i noticed my temp guage getting a bit high. I ended up nursing it home to 5th, the bottom hose had split, besides a bundle of falls, that was the worst thing that happened to me all year so i was lucky i guess.

No sorry he didn't, just the 350 class, was getting muddled up, that would have been the year Ivan gray was given the main prize
