Couldn't agree more, that was a phenomenal finish! Such a shame that the 24hrs didn't didn't deliver what Sebring seemed to promise.

Well done Peugeot. Shockingly dull race though. Wish the Audis had been around.

More people need to see that. Makes Hakkinen on Schumi @ Spa look like amateur work. biggrin.gif

Have to say that I enjoyed the whole race and didn't find it dull at all. It was a fascinating endurance race with some classes, e.g. LMP1, decided early and others competitive throughout. IMHO those who want constant battles for the lead throughout an entire 12 hours are better off watching the staged entertainment that is NASCAR. Yes, last year was closer; and yes, I wish Audi was there (especially as I'm an Audi fan), but still thought the race was very enjoyable indeed.

Despite Pirro splitting the Peugeots within the first 30 minutes, there was really nothing to get excited about in the LMP 1 class as Drayson suffered from several mechanic issues and Aston Martin never once looked like making in-roads on Peugeot's dominance.

Even the GT2 class, which provided most of the entertainment early on, settled down by the halfway point.

Wasn't anything to get the pulse raising that's for a sure. Was more like a leisurely pursuit.

That fire on Scott Sharp's car was nothing short of MASSIVE... eek.gif

Unfortunately, the number of very early mechanical issues experienced by key teams really crippled the competition within most classes. By the mid-point--but often well before that--it was clear that most classes would be decided by luck rather than strategy and racecraft, so in that regard it wasn't a vintage edition of the race. I thought it was an enjoyable and often eventful race throughout, but with the writing being on the wall from such an early point, it stopped being suspenseful around the 4hr mark.

Excuse my ignorance, but aren't the Audi R8 LMS cars eligible to compete in this series? There seem to be loads of them racing around the world in various series so why not enter one in ALMS?

The GTC class is basically GT3 regulations, but it's now only open to 911 GT3 Cup cars, since it's only in its early inception. IMSA is thinking of opening it up to 3-4 other GT3-spec cars, as soon as the ACO defines its own GT2 regulations for the next few years.

And the R8 LMS is a GT3 car.

No matter how it turned out it was better than a Grand Am race.
