Last year "someone" at Ferrari decided to wear an oversized cap and the whole journalist community fell over it.
Analyses ranged from A to Z
BTW Nicky Hayden wore the same thing a year before.
Now Vettel wears it and no one comments on it.
So much for the objectivitiy of our "diva F1 journalists"

Corporate image, or something like that.
Red Bull isn't Ferrari.
And these caps look ridiculous anyhow. Is it ghetto style or what?
They should return to wherever they came from.

It isn't 'ghetto'; it's just a more progressive look. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean you have to be so intolerant.
Most of these drivers are young guys who grew up influenced by hip hop culture. Let them wear what they want!

Notice the provided image - all 3 exhibits seem to be sporting a long 'do. The oversized cap would provide necessary support without too much padding. Much like a

Hayden, Block, Raikkonen, Vettel - all sponsored by energy drinks. Curiously, Marlboro let Hayden keep his flat brim from his Red Bull days, while Kimi simply continued in Red Bull his flat brim from his Marlboro days.

I'm older and I love um, the bigger the better - and you definitely need the longer hair to help keep them from falling down and covering half your face. I've always worn oversized hats because hats in general give me a headache. I don't mind if it is a helmet for off road biking or whatever, but to deal with headaches from an everyday baseball cap sucks. People have worn them since way back - maybe some for that reason - now they are just more popular, lol.

also it's not actually bigger at all, it's just the flat brim that makes it look that way,

I thought going to rally with Red Bull would save Kimi from the ridiculous Ferrari fat cap, either to a woolly hat or at least the schoolboy/cricket style cap RBR were using last year. But no, it's followed him

Caps should be banned IMO, they should be straight about it and just stamp the sponsors' names on their foreheads.

1. Kimi's flat-brimmed cap
We haven't seen Kimi in the post race press conference for a while and when he did show up at Monte Carlo, we had a better chance to have a look at his ghastly flat-brimmed cap which is about as stylish as a Mini Clubman. What on earth are Ferrari doing indulging their overpaid Finn in this way? Ferrari is supposed to be about elegance, glamour, classical styling and class, not grunge or whatever this hat is supposed to be. It looks totally out of place and underlines, in a way, how out of place and out of step Kimi is at Maranello...
http://timesonline.typepad.com/formula_one...rom-monaco.htmlYou'd think these 'bloggers' might have something more worthy to report than the size of one's cap, let alone place it at the forefront of an article(!) These caps called 59fifty, they are fitted so you cant adjust them, you have to know your headsize in inches when you buy them (and add an extra inch if you wanna look real cool:D) Red Bull make 59fifty and Flexfit caps for ages because of their involvement in MX.
The funny thing about Kimi is that he actually asked Ferrari (the most traditional and conservative team) to taylor-make a cap like this for him as he wont wear that adjustable rubbish

Not any driver could pull that at Ferrari, but again, not every driver gets 20mil just to go away from there

(Just imagine if he shared his fashion ideas with Ron Dennis, asking for special team merchandise, I imagine Ron's first reaction would not be "OK, Kimi so where did you say we can buy these baggy cargo pants? "

Was there some huge Kimi hat controversy last year? Remind me, 'cause I seemed to have missed that.
As for the style in question, those flat brimmed, slightly oversized caps were trendier a few seasons ago. I haven't seen as many on the local streets lately.
