PS I have the impression that had Pete Aron actually existed (don't tell Macca he didn't), he'd have been on our list too.

Alboreto came 30th in 1996.
Vincenzo Sospiri nearly made all three. Raced at Indy and Le Mans, but failed to qualify in his only F1 appearance.

Mark Blundell
Don't think he did an Indy. He joined the CART troupe in '96 - the first year without the Indy 500 in the calendar.

Chris Amon, Johnny Herbert and Jan Lammers entered Indy but never raced.
Thought of one more - Raul Boesel
Tim Murray
May 14 2010, 08:34
René Le Bègue
(not an F1 driver, I know, but a Grand Prix driver nonetheless)
Funnily I came on here just now to start this exact topic ! Well almost, I was looking for Monaco, Indy and Le Mans which excludes a few above that didn't run Monaco.
up to date one - Justin Wilson
Also Tomas Enge

Michael Andretti's son Marco is set to make the double. The four time Indy 500 competitor (best finish 2nd in 2006) will make his debut at Le Mans with a Rebellion Racing Lola.
So grandfather, so father, so son!
Also John Andretti (Mario's nephew) competed on the Brickyard and at the Sarthe.

Minassian and Grant never raced in F1, surely? Bucknum and Sullivan have already been mentioned.
All the IRL ones:
Wilson and Enge as above
Max Papis
Alboreto, Boesel, Salazar, Seabass, Cheever, Moreno, Nakano, Ongias and Michael Andretti have been mentioned
Ones I'm not sure about Le Mans
Tora Takagi
Enrique Bernaldi (surely!)
Roberto Guerrero
JPM has won the Daytona 24 but don't think he has entered Le Mans
Minassian never drove in F1

Do you mean who is the most recent to achieve it on who is the most recent to have raced in F1?
JV achieved it with his first Le Mans in 2007 (Last GP 2006)
Bourdais was in F1 last year. but achieved the feat at the first GP of 2008
Wilson achieved it with his first Indy in 2008 (Last GP 2003)
Mansell will do it this year
Vitesse I was well aware hence the wink

I think we have covered everybody btw I've been through all the indy results going way back and can't find anyone else. Even if we include 1950-1960 Indy 500's as F1 races, which I didn't, I don't think there are many more. Surprising how many are missing Le Mans, Fabrizio Barbazza is another. Chuck Daigh, Bob Bondurant and Richie Ginther are missing Indy despite being American.

Never raced in F1.
I'm just idly wondering how many of those have done
all three in the same year. A small and select group, I'd have thought. OTTOMH:
Alberto Ascari (1952)
Dan Gurney (1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967)
Graham Hill (1966)
Mark Donohue (1971)

I agree AJ never raced in f1 but he did race at Indianapolis and 1958 - 1960 which counted towards the WDC :-)

David Hobbs (1971) teamed with Donohue at Le Mans too

He drove Le Mans numerous times but never 'raced' at Indy.
Interesting one is Roger Penske, drove in F1 and Le Mans and even won a Nascar race once but never raced at Indy. has won it about 867 times as a team manager though!

Having checked carefully (or I think I did) the following haven't been mentioned:
Jim Crawford, Robert Doornbos, Graham McRae (I believe). and Max Papis
Please correct me if I'm wrong (I can't see a website that lists who has raced at Le Mans) but Mauricio Gugelmin, Bobby Unser, Rodger Ward, Emerson Fittipaldi never raced at Le Mans.
If you include Indianapolis non-qualifiers, then you can include a few more, such as:
Gianfranco Comotti, Giuseppe Farina, Olivier Grouillard, Bruce McLaren, Teddy Pilette, Harry Schell and Mike Spence
There's a few more I'm not sure about Le Mans wise of the 2nd list - Jorge Daponte and John Cannon, to name but two.

Apologies - thought Crawford was there in 1977, but he was only listed as a driver but never actually made the track.
I also thought Doornbos raced there in 2003, but I could be wrong - again I'm struggling to find a Le Mans archive with a full drivers index.
Papis is solely down to my eyesight.

As already discussed Sebastian Bourdais is the most recent .... however Villeneuve was the most recent driver who was close to equalling Graham Hill's record breaking trio of wins ( Just needed to win Le Mans with Peugeot in 2008 )
