Only 1h 30m to go until FP1 commences (1000EDT, 1500BST, 1600CST)!
Take it there aren't many who are blowing out FP1 to watch the S Africa v Mexico World Cup match instead?
Wonder if any of the rookies (Petrov, Chandhok, Senna, Di Grassi, etc.) will bin it in "The Wall Of Champions"TM in these sessions?

The football is on TV, will be keeping an eye on FP1 through the internets. Tbh none of these particular events today are actually that interesting anyway, football or F1.

I agree, but those events make the right atmosphere for the upcoming events on saturday and sunday

With the commentators droning on about spurious gossip and their off-track activities. Christ, they bore me. I much preferred the old itv.com practice streams that just had the sound from the track. Bliss.

Took me a couple of tries (black screen of death) but seems to be working now? More annoyed about not being able to watch full screen on BBC Sport website...

It's all installation laps for the first half hour or so generally.
From Mike Gascoigne's Twitter; "Also track has been resurfaced. Looks like the new tarmac drains very badly so will be a problem if it rains"
That doesn't sound good, although need to take his tweets with a grain of salt (after all he said it was going chuck it down in stairods two weeks ago in Istanbul)! ;-)

New tarmac looks extremely slippery. Very slow laptimes at the moment.

~I can't find the broadcast in the USA...I thought SPEED would have it but no...I'd like nothing better than a cool stream of water to slake my thirst right now....
RDS commentators (French-Canadian TV) are reporting raindrops at the track.
Light showers now! From Hulkenburg's onboard!

Senna putting a whole second on Chandok

And Barri on Hulk.
I'm kinda expecting faster laptimes than 2008, Ham on pole was something like 1 17 5

Funny how odd the cars look against the background of the Montreal track.
These ugly narrow cars with high narrow back wing are racing the first time on this track, contrast that with 2008 when the cars still had a certain beauty!

Great to see Jenson, Lewis and MS trading top times in the opening laps. Lewis is throwing the car into the final chicane like it's Q3 and getting very close to the wall.
McLaren are running visibly more rear wing and still topping the speed traps, it looks like a Monaco wing! It's gonna be a great weekend for them I think...
EDIt correction, Jenson is near top of trap, Petrov 318, Jenson 315, Lewis not there but McLaren are topping the sector traps suggesting McLaren have indeed opted for higher downforce and and better exit speed then attempt to match the other teams' straightline speed. Its what Id do.

What is it with his Ferrari?
Wow. Even with more DF, nobody is touching the McLarens in S3.
Double RF1 at speed trap.
