I remember at a Brands Interserie race Del Bennet had a nice looking car called a "Scorpion" which ran a 6L Chevy engine I think. Does anyone have info or pics on this car, I wondered whether it was based on a Harrier?
RA Historian
Buck Fulp had a rear engine sports racer built in the mid sixties that was called a Scorpion. See

Same car?

Yes, it possibly was, very similar, at least for the bodywork...remember it advertised for sale on Autosport, mid-to-late nineties
Kevan
Certainly has the Harrier look to it.

Looking further into the pics on RSC, it appears to be the same car raced by John Bartlett as a Harrier LR7

I might be way off base here, but didn't this car use a Bonner V6 engine? This thing was a derivation IIR of the Cosworth GA motor that was reengineered with a new block configuration. It was also to be licensed as an aircraft engine as well I think.

Jock that rings a bell but not with that car however I can't remember which car it was!

Don't remember about it, for sure ADA tested and, possibly, raced (BRDC C2 Championship) a car with that engine...
Kevan
Yes, ADA ran the Bonner V6 in the first couple of BRDC C2 rounds in 1990, before switching back to a DFL

Thanks. That sounds right in retrospect. What ever did happen to that engine? I heard it once and it sounded pretty good. Like a GA but with more bass!?

Found a couple photos from my collection, taken in the pitlane at Brands for the 1992 Interserie meeting.
