Full Version: How many will Vettel win?

I thought Fernando and Jenson would do it after dominating the first halves of their championship years('06 and '09) but we still haven't seen anybody win more than 7 since 2004.
Its about time!
I'm not a Vettel-fan so to speak but i am admiring, and wouldn't complain if he took atleast 9.
So what do you say? Will he take 9, 10, 11??
DanardiF1
9 I reckon, the rest mixed up between Hamilton, Button, Alonso and Webber...
KavB
I think he will win at at least 10 races. It would be very impressive if he broke Schumachers record, but it's hard to predict.
Disgrace
12-13.
slmk
He's a shoo-in at Silverstone, Singapore, Hungary, Valencia, Korea, Japan, Germany and maybe Spa and India.

Best case (for the sake of the WDC): he wins none.
Worst case: pretty much everything else except Monza, Spa, India.

12-13.

Yep, I would go with that, based on current form and car competitiveness. It may even be more.
Disgrace
Possibly, but I doubt he will beat Schumachers 2004 record. The level of competition is not as fundamentally rubbish and his team-mate is not as discriminated against as that god-awful season.

Well, if 2006 and 2009 are anything to go by we may get an interesting 2nd half with few Vettel wins. I don't mind how many pole positions he takes, he may very well break Old Nigel's record from 1992 but i sincerely doubt he will break Schumacher's(wins in a season).

Olly F1
11 I reckon.
abc02
I say 10. Which means he'll only win 5 of the next 13 races. (Bahrain isn't going ahead, right?)

The kid has "victory fever".

This year Webber is not able to challenge Vettel -at least not so far- so Vettel should win a lot more races. I expect around 10-12 wins for Vettel.
DILLIGAF
Barring bad luck 12-15 is very possible. He's on fire regardless of the car advantage & i can't see anyone else winning more than 2-3 races this year.
Ricardo F1
Depends if the new exhaust rules nerf RBR. Assuming they don't at all then he should win every race this season.

Vettel will win 10 races. He will give 2 wins on a silver platter to Webber once he locks in the this year's WDC.

Umm... why the hell would he do that? It's not likely that Webber will be sacrificing a race win for his teammate, so Vettel won't need to return the favour...
joshb
and I'd think he's ruthless enough to not give anyone anything. He seems to take a big interest in records so I can't see him doing that.
A formula 1 win is a formula 1 win, they won't happen all the time so make the most of this period where its all coming together
redbroccoli
Too many, I'm afraid. Hopefully Webber can challenge Vettel but after watching the Canada quali, I don't know.

Well webber i thought did a respectable effort given he had no KERS (0.2seconds or so) and he had no practise in FP3. At 3 or 4 races he was further behind even with everything working

It would cement Webber as the #2.

all except maybe italy and belgium and if he has DNF's, unless ferrari can do what they did last yr and then alonso might get a couple
phil1993
There's two sides to this:

- The fact that the RB7 is fast on every circuit so far and shows no sign of falling back - why can't Vettel win the rest?

- The fact that their race pace is not hugely better than McLaren, and possibly Ferrari at some tracks, and also that Vettel was perhaps fortunate in Spain and Monaco.

as long as the Red Bull remains the quickest car in qualifying - I don't see him missing out on many wins at all either - DNF's aside

As joshb said, I don't see Vettel gifting wins to anyone - even if the WDC is won...

I guess they do have win bonuses in their contracts.
ImDDAA
Vettel will never win another race.
Spa One
with so many races on the calendar i can see him breaking the record

I see no reason why the RBR shouldn't win every race left in the season, it is so superior that only the drivers and the team can bog it up.

I think you are of thinking of qualifying - in races it is by no means so superior with it often being hobbled by no KERS and not having that diffuser spurt.

I think SV'll win Valencia then that'll be it for him - it'll be about whether Alonso or Hamilton can put a run together to fight for the title - they'll undoubtedly have the best race cars in the second half of the season.

Undoubtedly? Wrong word. I'm not saying it's impossible but the Red Bulls aren't sitting still, no matter how many people wish it to be true.

Well I have no doubts and it's not driven by wishful thinking - IMO the diffuser changes will hit RBR harder comparitvely, plus F1 needs a title battle, a cynical view and many will disagree with the conspiracy stuff but that's how I see it - if by the end of the season Vettel has dominated all the way I will gladly eat a slice of humble pie.

All I can say is what is the use in having the races run in HD if he continues to win? He's already ruined it all already this season. With him and RB domination F1 should be on bad quality standard tv's in B&W with mono sound. Heck even radio broadcasts would be better coz then his silly finger wouldn't be seen....

The changes to the exhausts will effect other teams too, if I had to bet on a team handling it better than the rest right now I'd go with Red Bull. I'm hoping and predicting that the Red Bulls won't dominate every single race for the rest of the season but I'd almost put money on them not once being off the front row (bar a crash/failure in qualifying).

Only good thing is that nothing is for certain, and him having a dnf in HD would be the best picture around! Like his prac 1 shunt lol

Helping to get 1-2 in drivers championship. Much like Schumacher did for Rubens in 2002 and 2004, also tried to do it in 2001 but MS/RB/Ferrari didn't succeed that time.

But that requires Webber to be up there as well. One 2nd place all season doesnt sound great but i think he's driven pretty well in races, but has been in the wrong positions at the wrong time a lot.
MrAerodynamicist
It's all about pressure. He's hardly put a foot wrong all year, and all the 'luck' has rolled his way. Then one of the few times so far he's been put under pressure, and what do we see? A mistake.

They have to find a way to make sure he's not leading at the end of the first lap.
