Hey all, it's time for the NASCAR circus' second visit to Daytona. Nationwide race and Cup race, sched:
http://www.nascar.com/races/tune_in/Jayski:
http://www.jayski.com/news/races/2011/story?id=6457458Chassis notes for JPM: Team Target Crew Chief Brian Pattie has elected to bring chassis #902 to Daytona and was run three times during the 2010 season, finishing 10th at the Daytona 500 and third in both Talladega races. The Target team also used this chassis in all four restrictor plate events in 2009 with a best finish of ninth in the July race at Daytona.
I think we're looking at more 2-by-2 racing the the whole "swap" thing.

Dance partners should be even more fun to find after last weekend's revenge festival.

At what time is the start in central European time of this race? I assume it's going to be deep in the night.
Why would they use their best restrictor plate chassis to wreck krashalowsky?

Unwatchable then. For old people like me it's too late. And for young guns it interferes with their party timing.

So many drafting possibilities after this spring of discontent....Harvick/Busch, Stewart/Vickers, JPM/Kahne, Keselowski, etc.....

I guess, I'm somewhere in between. It was the perfect race to stay late for: Saturday night, no need to work on Sunday and the race starts when the temperature finally begins to go down and it feels good to sit for a while close to an open window, just cooling down. BUT, my parents are paying a visit this weekend. If my mum finds me at 3 in the morning watching a race in my laptop, in English, where cars only turn left... I'm afraid I would end up locked up in a mental institution

No race is unwatchable if you've got enough love

And possibly enough caffiene.

it's indeed bad timing for Europeans. But you could take some drugs to stay awake. Maybe the young guns who use it when they party can advise you on it?

andrew. already seems to smoke some of it (previous post).

Nah, I just live in Canada, so it's mostly just F1 races at 'unwatchable' hours to me. Nascar is always on at a decent time, and as much as I'd like to pretend otherwise, I'd skip my mother's funeral if an F1 race was on that day.
Looks like the RPM Boys have some power working together.

I'm telling your mum....
tbh you would have to be an utter c*** to do that! (thats what phone updates are for besides i imagine about the only GP that would affect you at the mo is the Canadian and they don't do many funerals on sunday anyway...)

VERY good run by Ms. Patrick in the NNS race...until she caused the 'big one' across the finish line.

Totally forgot about the NNS race. Looks like it ended how they all end though, a winner from out of nowhere with a bunch of wadded up cars on the last lap.

When driving simulators, I hate to squeeze against the wall like that...anything can happen....she was brave!
And yes, this win fro. A guy coming out of nowhere aspect is always annoying, specially when you don't like the guy, like Cry baby Logano.

It was Wallace, he got all squirelly and moved up and hit Patrick.
I don't see it that way. I think you can say Wallace caused her mistake/risky move to get closer to the wall and find a way past everybody; then SHE caused the pile up when she get out of shape.
That's racing though, I don't think she or Wallace should were particularly stupid or careless, IMHO.

Yeah, nothing out of ordinary there.
Any driver who would lift his foot of the pedal in the last corner of the race while contending for the win doesn`t deserve to be there...
Less than 6 hours to go...couple of gallons of coffee should be enough for tonight.

He didn't touch her. If anything she overreacted to his move, he stopped before squeezing her.
Having said that, the turned off the bumper of Almirola.
Anyway she kept her foot in it and finished 9th

Yes, yes, I forgot that part. Was she pushing the cars on fire in front of her to cross the line, or what was happening there exactly? I thought that was pretty odd...

The possibilities of wildness are indeed that, wild.
As for Juan, what will happen between him and the #2? . . . and #4?
I just hope Juan finishes the race in one piece and of course, somewhere in the front.

well I think it's OK. The people in front of her got across the finish line ahead of her so she helped them just as much.
she sounded dumb as heck admitting it on TV though.

Marcos starts his 100th race today. I think he's got a great chance to win.... and shouldn't have too much of a problem picking a partner to start the race - Cousin Carl looks like a no brainer.

Agreed. After seeing the replays, it's just your typical restrictor plate incident. She and the 88 came up on the group so fast and there just wasn't room for them to go. Heck, she was already swirly before she even realized it. By the time she (or Wallace) went to correct, they were already in a giant wad of about 8 cars.
