Sad news......Don Wright passed away this morning.

Don would be best known here for his Citroen Special, 1950s, and Lancia - especially Lambda. He will be sadly missed by many, many people. RIP Don.

I met him when I did a story on the Citroen Special...

That car he bought as an embryonic project from Bill Buckle, but he certainly built it into a durable and quick racing car which gave a succession of drivers a great time.

Attended a get-together of Don's 'old mates', at Dural Counrtry Club, to-day.

The VSCCA and Lancia clubs from around the country were represented, and some wonderful memories of Don, and his exploits were re-kindled. Some nice words by Peter Giddings [via email], and even the Citroen Special turned up for the occasion. We all felt a similar feeling.......a great loss, yet also an enormous gain from having known Donald Wright.

I guess Bob Winley was there?

And I'm sure Don was old enough that a lot of his friends missed out, too. Was Bill Buckle present?

Neither Bob, nor Bill were there, Ray.

Sounds like you are one of the few who know how the "D" came to be in Dalro, Mick.

The Citrone Special on the Start Line at Huntley Hill Climb 1960/61, next car is Ray Strong in his Standard 8 then Paul Roberts in his XK120.

I seem to remember that the Citrone Special was having it's first outing after an accident at Silverdale, body repairs were not completed in time for this event.
