Come on. Everybody knows that it was a car that has won the WDC, Button was lucky that Hamilton was unlucky and Ferrari was at best 4th best car and he extracted more than an extra second from it. Principals no nothing, zero, nada, zilch.

That is a sensible and fair list I reckon. Nice to see Kovalainen getting the recognition he deserves, his performance in Lotus this year has been very good.

The Di Resta placing is ridiculous, Vettel undisputed and Alonso/Button a close call.

Also good luck to Simon Fuller shopping for a new contract for Lewis Hamilton with this list in his hand,

The list is pretty good but:
- Hamilton should be a little bit lower. He was visibly beaten by Button and too much crash-prone this year.
- Webber probably should be lower too. He fas too often too far from the limit of his car.
- Di Resta could stay in Top10, but he should be behind Sutil.
But considering that it was a voting from quite large group people, it is pretty close to what should be IMO. Most of other voting giving worse results AFAIR.

He was even more visibly beaten by Button on this list too. 4th is just fine. He did win three races after all, gotta give him some credit.

I can explain the difference between Sutil and di Resta by Mallaya giving the driver he keeps an inordinate amount of points compared with the driver he is about to dump.....

Looking at not just the position on the list, but also the points they got:

Hamilton - 122 points is too many for a driver who was clearly massively out of sorts through the mid-season, and generated so much work for the stewards.

Webber - not his best year, so position on the table is fair enough (wouldn't put him any higher) - but a 52 point gap to the error-prone & underperforming Hamilton? Nope. Just reinforces that Hamilton has over-achieved on this list.

Where's Alguersuari? Dismal start to the season, sure, but made a strong comeback through the year and finished off strongly.

Kovalainen - deserved more points than that. Absolutely spanked Trulli senseless this year. Good to see it rewarded, but could have been rewarded more - given him the excess points that went to Hamilton!

I would like to see the Drivers rate the Team Principals.

Not that large: "This year's voters were: Horner, Martin Whitmarsh, Stefano Domenicali, Ross Brawn, Eric Boullier, Frank Williams, Vijay Mallya, Peter Sauber, Tony Fernandes, Colin Kolles and John Booth. Scuderia Toro Rosso declined to take part." So 11 people. Were they allowed to vote for their own drivers?

I'd have 6-8 in a different order as well as Button and Alonso swapped, but the list doesn't look too bad.

All those who say hamilton was seriously beaten or owned or whatever... The guy in his worse season still managed to stay close to his team mate, beat him in qualifyings clearly, win 3 races and get the only non RBR poll position of the year and at the end really only beaten by his own state of mind.

Thanks Mate. My first decision is to make Kimi nº 1 driver with a car designed for him. Then will ask Grosjean to ruin Alonso/Webber/Massa/Hamilton races all the time. Then get some 2 or 3 millon euros to my acount just in case i'm fired in the middle of the season.

One thing is clear , apart from his loyal fans , Button is the undisputed top driver at Mclaren..

I don't think anyone will argue with Button being ahead of Hamilton. This season he wasn't as good as Jenson, and he knows it as well as everyone who actually watched the season unfold.

its f1, only as good as your last race, so they forget the first part of the season when lewis performed/achived as we expect, it was really good till he phoned in at a few races :/, and all the crap happened.

Could not find the list from 2007, a year without points means a 0 while of course a year out won't get taken into account. There is a bit of a bias towards the lower ranked drivers of the 10-11 period agains the 08-09 one because the pointsystem changed. I multiplied the 08-09 numbers by 2.5, but of course the point base for drivers like Sutil or Trulli is still overall smaller due to the fact that points were only awarded until P8.

What a crock list. No Kobra no Algie? Might as well put Trulli in there.

Gotta love this BB. Seriously folks, you'd think this kind of list would be difficult to quibble with, since these guys have a LOT more information to work with than we do. With all their connections they can find out the real scoop about drivers that are on other teams.

You can argue that the criteria isn't well established (best driving, professionalism, value for $$) or something, but otherwise it's hard to argue with this particular poll.

In general it's amusing to see how most post here go on about how certain drivers should be placed lower, while neither they nor myself can think of any drivers that could be filled in as replacements. Conclusion, simply not that many drivers were consistently impressive this season.

Flavio once joked that he hoped nobody voted for his drivers.
Helps keep the salary expectations down.

Webber was humiliated by Vettel this year only one win against Vettel's 11 wins plus Vettel had the record number of pole positions helped by no competition from Webber, whilst Lewis had the same amount of wins as Jenson with 3 wins, 2 more than Webber, plus he consistently was better than Jenson in qualifying, Webber underperformed massively.

Some observations:


1. Vettel 241/11=21.91 (had at least 7 #1 picks - likely 7 first, 2 second and 2 third places) average less than 25 because nobody is perfect.

2. Button 200/11=18.18 - average slightly above 18 - so had at least one #1 pick (possibly 2x#1,5x#2 and 4x#3)

3. Alonso 188/11=17.09 - average above 15 - so a few picks at #2 or higher - (likely picked up at least one #1 pick, I suspect 2x#1, 3x#2,4x#3 and 2x#4)


If my guesses are right, no team principle would have put anyone other than Vettel, Button or Alonso in their top 2, and only one other driver would have got into a top 3.
The number of possible combinations for the drivers with lower scores is much greater so it's not really worth speculating on the specifics.


4. Hamilton 122/11=11.09 - average below 12 - some rated him lower than forth (at least two if Alonso had 2x#4's)

5. Rosberg 90/11=8.18 - average below 10 - some rated lower than fifth

6. Webber 70/11=6.36 - average below 8 - some rated lower than sixth

7. Di Resta 44/11=4 - average below 6 - some rated lower than seventh

8. Sutil 38/11=3.45 - average below 4 - some rated lower than eighth

9. Kovalainen 26/11=2.36 average above 2 - some rated higher than ninth

10. Schumacher 23/11=2.09 - average above 1 - some ranked him higher than tenth
