Not really a nostalgic subject, but since this is the meeting place for all the bright minds, I post the topic here.
I've been trying to figure out who owns what in Formula 1 nowadays and that's not as easy as it seems, with all the sponsors, investors, etcetera hanging around. So far I've come up with the list below, but it still contains lots of question marks. Who can suggest some improvements?
---------------------------------------------------------------
This is the list I compiled:
---------------------------------------------------------------
Scuderia Ferrari SpA.
100%: Ferrari SpA
McLaren International Ltd.
40%: Ron Dennis
40%: DaimlerChrysler AG
20%: Mansour Ojjeh (TAG)
WilliamsF1
?%: Frank Williams
?%: Patrick Head
??others??
Benetton Formula Ltd.
100%: Renault Sport
(Renault Sport has two branches: Renault Sport France and Renault Sport UK. It looks to me RS UK is the 'old' Benetton Formula, while RS France is the original sporting department of Renault, where this years engine was developed)
British American Racing
??%: British American Tabacco (majority shareholder)
??%: Craig Pollock
??%: Adrian Reynard
??others like Rick Gorne, Julian Jakobi???
Jordan Grand Prix
60%: Eddie Jordan
40%: Walburg Pincus & Co.
Arrows F1 Team
60%: Tom Walkinshaw
40%: Morgan Grenfell (investment bankers)
Red Bull Sauber AG
??%: Peter Sauber
??%: Dieter Mateschitz (Red Bull, majority shareholder??)
Jaguar Racing
100%: Ford Motor Company
European Minardi F1
70%: Paul Stoddart (European Aviation)
14.5%: Giancarlo Minardi
14.5%: Emilio Gnutti, Guiseppe Lucchini, Vittorio Palazzani (Scuderia
Italia)
1%: Defendante Marniga
(This is assuming Stoddart only bought the shares formerly held by Gabriele Rumi. Some sources reported Stoddart also acquired the shares of the others.)
Prost Grand Prix
45%: Alain Prost
35%: Diniz family
10%: LV (=Luis Vuitton) Capital
??others??
