I know this is the TNF but perhaps not every one knows that the Merit kits of the 1950-51 1 1/2 litre Alfa Romeo Alfetta and the 4 1/2 litre Talbot Lago are still for sale..
They are now made as inexpensive kits by SMER and an unique piece of model hobby history, 45 years old..

And both kits make nice models, though the Lago-Tabot nose cone doesn't look quite right. Need a good, steady hand and eyesight to paint those wheels!

as they are more then 40 years old, and even have engines inside:
they are little gems..

They're nice. I built mine few years ago and I still adore Talbot Lago. Sadly I lent Alfetta for an exhibition in Zagreb Fair and it was returned to me in such a shape that I almost cried... It was a hard way to learn that I never nd my models to anyone...
And don't ask me about these damn wheels - I never had it right!

They were still available on Ebay last week.

In the 50s and early 60s I had them all, from the Cooper 500 to the BRM P51.

I think it was the BRM P25. I have them all...still my favorites.

Me and numbers, I always remember them incorrectly.
D-Type
The original 1:24 Merit range comprised

Aston Martin DB3s

Cooper 500
Ferrari (or if you prefer Lancia Ferrari)
Gordini
Jaguar D type
Lotus XI
Maserati 4CLT
Maserati 250F
Mercedes Benz W196
Vanwall
all in 1955-56 form

and the two later additions that included engine detail
Alfa Romep "Alfetta"

Have I missed any?

We know where the Alfetta and Talbot-Lago moulds went but does anyone know where the others are?
Rob Miller
I have a D-Type, a Lotus XI and a Cooper 500, average build quality and not painted. What I would rather have are a Lancia-Ferrari, a BRM and a Gordini.

If you haven't got them, you can now acquire the pair (They didn't sell first time round at this price)

I was at a Toy Fair today and a dealer had some built and nicely painted Merit kits for £10 each so you don't need to pay that much for them, sadly he had sold the Cooper 500 and the Gordini before I got there. I assume collectors only want boxed unbuilt examples and will pay more for those.
