I missed this thread, so this is actually my second post but there you go.
Right, my name's Andy, I live in Sheffield, UK and I'm working at the university here doing a PhD in electroceramic materials that can conduct oxygen ions (which is useful for making fuel cells with).
Apart from motorsport, I like music (mostly indie/rock, but will have a listen to anything) and I'm also a fan of Manchester City football club (I'm from Manchester originally) to help me get through the winter without proper sport to watch.
Hello.
Found this forum from another.
Thought I see what other people's thoughts are.

Hi....I'm Ron....Been an F1 fan since '64. I'm going to have an exploritory lap and see how she goes!
Hello all,
I am a world citizen currently living in USA. I have been a formula one fan in an out for many years, but only recently I have embraced F1 with passion, this year in particular.
I think Ferrari’s dominance for the first 5 years of this decade damaged the fan base of the sport.
Let’s say last year's circus gave the sport the push it lacked since 1999.
Favorite Drivers (order of importance)
1. JPM
2. Kimi
3. Barrichelo
4. Alonso
5. Button
6. Webber
7. Trulli
8. Speed (represent!)
I hope to learn more and have interesting discussions with the group
By the way... ALONSO is winning this weekend... is unavoidable.

We sure hope its going to be an exciting season this year. As a Motoya fan I sure hope the McLaren is fast AND reliable, and that he has the ability to match/beat Kimi this year.

Hi,
I've been an avid F1 supporter since Nigel Mansell blew his wheel in Adelaide in '86, and really got involved in 1991. I was a big Mansell fan, then swapped allegiance to Damon after Nige left and now have a soft spot for Mark Webber (and Coulthard and Button - you can take the boy out of Britain etc).
I'm really looking forward to the '06 season, hoping that Williams live up to testing promise (yes, I'm an optimist), and if I can't have that just hoping that Alonso doesn't stroll away with it. Bring on the weekend!
Cheers
Hey
I have been looking in here for quite a long time and just recently registered.
I'm what many would say an old timer. In the fact F1 and road racing have been a passion for many years.
There does seem to be a civility and class here that is lacking badly in many of the other forums I've read and participated in.
No, I'm not kidding.
Looking forward to posting and in more than just the nostalgia forum.

Hi, me thinks that you have a great board here -
Yank refugee from the world of Billy bob and Jethro left-turn racing. I actually do a lot of amateur touring car racing in the states and Canada and had a brief stint as a professional crew chief in the speed world challenge touring car series. As a youngster, went to Winfield Fran Am school/Formula Renault elimination at Magney Cours (Yannick Dalmas was testing an F3 car - the entire week we were there – establishes age), but alas, I was soundly beaten down to the middle of the pack by some very good go-carting champion Brits + our French hosts.
Likes: racers that go for it w/o taking out their colleagues, Spa, Monaco, Monza
Dislikes: Dumbing-down of the rules - pit passing -neutering of sectors like Ostkurve - self - serving supremos

Hiya everyone,
I'm new here but have followed F1 since the days of Mansell, Prost, Senna etc.. First got interested when following Mansell. Then I went to uni and my floor in halls were all Alesi fans so that's when I got really hooked - despite the tragic events at Imola that year ('94).
I'm from England so would obviously like to see Button picking up wins but I'm also hoping 2006 is championship number 2 for Alonso.
As for the future, with my other main interest being Capoeira I'll be watching any new Brazillians with interest. Having had the chance to interview him in person (in fact in his Dad's car!) I'll be particularly interested in how Nelson Piquet Jr comes on. Just as long as he cheers up a bit.
Look forward to reading more.

At long last Autosport have sorted out my login and in a sustained browsing session I have happened across this 'ere message board.
I'm still fairly new to Forums (started last year with a Man Utd one) this is a pretty busy one with people who are far too well informed - better that than ignorant idiots though.
So here I go to make up the shortfall of fools on here.
Formula1 is my earliest recollection of sport of any sort. My all time fav will always be Our Nige! I am currently deeply disenchanted with my first love footy and I am having a bit of a renaissance in all forms of motor sport (4 wheels only!).
P.s. trying like mad to get out of the country to NZ - if only they will let me in!!!!
Hi,
my name is Carrie and I have recently become obsessed with F1 as my husband is working for Super Aguri and I am home alone! I am still a big Schumacher fan but there is room in my heart for Sato too.
I like reading the discussions and the live ones are fabulous, you are keeping me very well informed and occupying my time. I can't contribute much as I haven't the technical knowledge ....yet!

Hello all,
I've finally decided to subscribe to this BB after lurking around for a couple of years. This site seems to have the most knowledgable F1 fans around. I live in the United States in the Washington DC suburbs and have been really following F1 since I learned the SPEED channel was carrying F1 back in '99.
During the first race I watched, I remember seeing Mika Salo and Eddie Irvine driving for Ferrari. When Schumacher came back I remember thinking, "Who is this guy?" After listening to the verbal stylings of Hobbs and Matchett for a couple of hours I started to get an idea of just who this guy was. I've been hooked ever since.

Hi everyone, I'm not exactly new to the AtlasF1 BB board, been around since 1998++ when I was still studying in England. At the time I was mostly playing Guess-the-grid and was not an active poster. Now I'm back in Malaysia, working and finally recovered my lost password today. Still following F1 religiously despite the many ups and downs the past few years. Been to Sepang a few weeks ago and really enjoyed the experience, although its the 3rd year I've been attending... too bad I dont get to see much of the incidents where I was sitting! :\
Anyway, really looking forward to joining a great crowd of fun & knowledgeable members here
Hi guys
New kimi fanatic fan here and looking forward to a good time on this forum. I have been a big Mclaren since 1998 and my legend is Ron Dennis & Mika Hakkinen.
Hi all

,
I'm a 19(almost 20) years old guy from Hungary. I hope you know where it is, especially because the flying circus also turn over here.
I'm following F1 since my childhood, somewhere '93-'94 and I'm luckily enough that I has been twice in F1 GP, 2004 and 2005. My favourite driver is Kimi but I really like all others, even Alonso too...
I hope enjoy good time in this BB, and know more from F1 and learn some english.

Hello!
I have just found this fab forum,

and look forward to contributing on a regular basis.
I'm a late 30's BMW Business Manager who has supported F1 since the 70's and my greatest Hero was Carlos Reutemann.
Since then I have only followed a couple of drivers closely, one being Martin Brundle and now Mark Webber.
F1 is my biggest passion and I hate all of the idiots who slate it and call it boring.
I attend the BGP every year and have spent years in my youth following the circus around Europe, travelling to every European race. I have also spoent time working in the pits when I was a kid in a Formula 3 team, getting really close to some of the idols, when we ran as supporting races at various GP's.
Long live F1 !!!

Hi folks,
being a long time lurker I have finally decided to register. I don't think I will post much, if at all, but I think the signal-to-noise ratio has become worse over time and I really need the ignore functions to be able to continue to enjoy this bulletin board. There is a lot interesting discussions going on here and I believe that if I apply a bit of filtering I can follow them in 10% of the time and the risk of missing the good bits decreases quite a bit.

Been following F1 for a few years now.
got into it when i got back to India (was previously a NASCAR addict). Couldn't get any other decent motorsports on Indian TV. Now I'm hooked. My girlfriend used to complain that I disappeared every other Sunday. Now we're married and we watch it together. In Japan right now and I don't understand the commentary. Also, we do not have Cable, so if we want to watch the race we must watch a delayed run (i think they called it deffered, or something like that). Anyways, now we sit around the computer and watch the live timings on formula1.com
I'm a DC fan, for those that want to know. I do kinda feel let down that he hasn't done as well as could have been hoped. By that I mean he hasn't won a championship. However, I have not given up hope. Maybe this year, eh?
Many members look really knowledgeable. I hope I will be able to make a useful contribution to the posts.
Hi all,
I am new here, as a result I don't quite know who is who on this board. But since one of my thread was locked by the moderator I now grow huge interest on her/him.
So who is bira? Is she/he a F1 insider?
Thanks in advance.

Hi, I am new here. I haven't quite figured out the board yet.
I have been a huge F1 fan for about 4 years. I started out just loving the sport in general but then some drivers and teams grew on me. Now I have some favorites and some that I dislike.
I live in Arizona and have been to the USGP twice and am going again this year. I can't wait!!!
Hey everybody
I've been looking for a decent F1 forum for a while, finally signed up to what looks like an excellent one here.
Look forward to posting and discussing on here with you lot.

Hello All , I'm a 40 year old long time US F1 fan. I've lurked on a few different F1 boards but finally decided to join one. I've loved F1 since 1989 and I'm afraid to say the "spectacle" was a bit more spectacular back in the 90's. I've been to about 8 GP's in person and really love the atmosphere and I'm really interested in whats going ot happen with the USGP next year. Look forward to some great sdiscussions, Thx.

Welcome aboard, yeah f1 was better in the past, but you never know what a gp can throw up, especially if we get rain again. Tis a different f1, but still better then other sports, so I assume that's why your here.
We might have a USGP next year, this year was a pretty good turn out.
Get stuck in in the discussions, plenty going on.
Enjoy

Greetings all!!
Just wanted to say HI!! I've been enjoying this site for quite a bit now as getting someone to talk about F1 is not a very ez task here in the USA... So, I felt its time to join and contribute!!
Love Ferrari, Mansell, Schumacher, and any driver that stays out of their way.
Dislikes-- Well I guess that will become obvious in the coming months...
Anyway, thanks for havin' me.

Ladies & Gents:
I have been reading this site for some time and posting at the vintage area.
As most forums are rapidly becoming a mutual admiration society, where differing opinions are being more often hostily tolerated, I decided to check this out as the simple volume here shows that unless the chosen few post every few minutes, there seems to be a more open minded approach.
Good day and Godspeed.

Hello
I've been wathcing F1 since '96 and I wanted Hill to win.
From 97 onwards I was impressed by Schumacher (it's obvious which one) so from then on I wanted him to win. Unless Hill was racing him.
I liked Hakkinen because even though he beat Schumacher (it's obvious which one), he didn't get all upset about him when he got beaten.
Even when Schumacher got a dominant car I still wanted him to win, though I felt a bit guilty because everyone was like "Oh teh noes!!!1 MS is killing teh sp0rt!!11one".
I didn't like Montoya because of all the hype. As if he was the only driver who wasn't "scared" of Schumacher (it's obvious which one).
I quite like Raikonnen because whenever he leads a race it becomes interesting. Mainly because it's highly likely that something will go wrong. But what?? Suspension? Engine?
Alonso seems a bit smug for my liking, though I can't begrudge him his first WDC. I will begrudge a second one though. Raarr!
Bernie and Max have done a lot of good for the sport, but now they're out of touch and should go and live on an island somewhere.
I don't understand marshmallows.
