Hi everyone,

I'm Ed, 31, originally from the UK, but now living in Helsinki, Finland. I've followed motorsports for as long as I can rememer as my dad is a complete car nut and he used to race Slick 50 road going saloons (and the occasional production saloon race, including the 25th running of the Willhire 24 hour race at Snetterton) in the mid to late eighties.
The last Grand Prix I went to was the 1985 European Grand Prix at Brands Hatch (I was only 9!)

I currently enjoy watching F1 on Finnish TV as it helps me learn the language and spares me having to endure ITV's coverage.

My all-time favourite driver is Henri Toivonen. In Formula 1, it's Senna. Out of the current crop, I'm cheering Lewis partly because he's a Brit, but also because I have followed his progess since karting and had a feeling that he was destined to be WDC (and, no, that's not the sound of me jumping on a bandwagon biggrin.gif )

Favourite race car of all time: Porsche 917 (Gulf colours)
Favourite F1 car: Lotus 72
F575 GTC
Hi to everybody! I'm Martin, 20 from Leicester. I'm mainly into Sportscar racing (FIA GT, LMS etc) hence the F575 GTC username...but also been into F1 since the mid 90's. My entire family loves F1 with my mother being particularly obsessed with M. Schumi (peace and quiet now though). Bit of a problem in 2005 as i support Nick Heidfeld...who MS kindly took off in Australia. The resulting argument lasted for nearly the entire season...

Sadly i've never been to see an F1 race, but hopefully i'll be off to Silverstone for the test-days and the race this year - and No, i'm not going to see Lewis Hamilton. Fingers crossed that Quick Nick wins his first race this year! rolleyes.gif

Hello everyone.

I'm Rob, and ive been an F1 Fan for quite a long time. I am 17 in a few months, ive been watching F1 since i was born (my dad loves it too ;)) but i only started supporting in 1996, Schumacher and Ferrari. A long time has passed since then, and now i am still Ferrari fan but i also like some drivers and will them on to do well, Adrian Sutil and Rubens Barrichello being 2! As a point of only being in F1 for 11years, i went back and looked at the history, so i am learning my stuff!

Im not just into F1, i like lots of other Motorsports too inclduing DTM, BTCC, Moto GP, GP2 etc.

Hi Everyone,

I'm Phil, 27, from the UK, living in Cheshire at the moment.
I've been a big motorsport fan all my life since my dad is obsessed with cars, and I have many fond memories of spending weekends following my dad in british saloon cars in the 80s and wandering around the circuits and paddocks with my brother.

I mainly follow F1, Motogp and WSB, but like to keep up to date with GP2, IRL, ALMS. My favorite drivers at the moment are Massa and Hamilton; massa because I always liked his crazy outings in his sauber days, and Hamilton because I've been watching his career since his early karting days.....and yes because he's a brit!! I'm a big Valentino Rossi fan as well. I also have a dislike of Alonso which from the outside verges on the irrational, but to me it makes perfect sense!!!

My favorite F1 cars of all time are the JPS Lotus 79 and Maclaren mp4.
Favorite race car of all time is the porsche 917....what a sound (watch the Le mans movie if you don't know what I mean!)
mpv2409
PS. I meant to say Maclaren mp4/4....... smile.gif

Hi folks,I have sneeked a few posts in RC and thought it polite to introduce myself, I have been posting on TNF for a while now, and have a renewed interest in F1, owed in the main to Lewis. Had a mispent childhood, mostly at Brands from 1961 onwards....have seen as you would expect, most of the charismatic drivers from an earlier age. Favourites, Jim Clark, Ronnie Peterson, Graham Hill and Jochen Rindt, ardent Team Lotus fan, translated nowadays means the oldest U.K. teams in the series, Williams and McLaren. Also spent loads of time in the forests watching the likes of Roger Clark, Ari Vatanen, Tony Pond and Henri Toivenen.
Love travelling and rock music and live music........LOUD!

Oops, I was so eager to start posting that I forgot to introduce myself. Sorry about that!

Hi, my name is Denis. Technically I am British, but I was born in Spain and live in a little town close to Madrid, and commute there to work every morning. I work in the glitz- and glamour-filled (not!!!) world of power plant engineering and design, but, before you run for cover thinking that one of the plants I've put my grubby mits on is going to blow up, relax: I just translate documentation. That's it, I'm a translator, specialising in, although not limited to, engineering.

Of course, being British and living in Spain, the first thing I get asked very, very, very, very, very, very often is 'Hamilton or Alonso?', mostly when I've just been introduced to someone. I always reply 'Alonso, of course', both because I would like to keep my knee-caps where nature put them and also because I have been following Alonso's career since he was in the Open Movistar and I love his driving and his attitude, even if the latter is difficult to like at times. Besides, I'm half Asturian (that is, from the north of Spain, not from that little country under Germany!!) and I have always been happy to see that not all Spanish drivers come from Catalonia, much as I like and admire Pedro Martínez de la Rosa and Marc Gené.

I've been following motor racing almost since before I was born and I think I can safely say I was one of the 100,000 or so racing fans who lived in Spain during the 80s and early 90s and who put up with watching GPs at whichever ungodly hour they were being shown (hardly ever at 14.00 on Sundays, I can assure you!). As regards allegiances, I went from Alan Jones to Keke Rosberg and then to Alain Prost, Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Jacques Villeneuve, Mika Hakkinen and finally Feranando Alonso. Basically, anybody except Michael Schumacher! He's certainly a brilliant driver, but his sense of what is sporting left something to be desired.

As for other hobbies, I love music, the louder the better, and play in a band doing covers of the Beatles, Jane's Addiction, The Mars Volta, Mr. Bungle...., and I run a karting championship every year with some mates.

Anyway, enough about me, I'm going to check on the threads where I've posted comments.....

Hey all, welcome to Racing Comments forum! up.gif

Hi everyone!

I've been a member of the BB since a year ago but didn't start posting until half a year later, so I entirely forgot about this thread.

I'm from Sweden and have been studying at a swedish university since 2 years back. Next week I'll be going to Rimini, Italy as an exchange student for a year. I study economics and business administration.

My interests range from history, theoretical physics, philosophy, etc to heavy metal music (from the 70s and 80s), travelling, partying, sports, etc. I'm very open minded and enjoy discovering things; different cultures, machines, you name it.

Since the 1986 San Marino GP I've been a diehard Formula 1 fan. No other sport can compare to F1 in my world.
My favourite driver back in the 80s was Nelson Piquet, and I was even a member of his fanclub from 1986 until it was closed down.
Then in 1989 I became a fan of Ferrari, much thanks to 'Il Leone', but also the beauty of their cars and that mystique. When Piquet retired in 1991 it was only Ferrari for me and has been ever since. The only other driver I've been a fan of was Schumacher, but Ferrari was/is always no 1 to me.
Of the current drivers, Räikkönen is the one I like best, however I'm not his fan, I just like him best.

I've been checking out Atlas F1 since 1998 and have always considered it the no 1 F1 website, only F1total.de has sometimes been able to rival it in quality and content. After some years Atlas F1 became a paysite and joined with Autosport, and it took a while before I subscribed because I thought I could make it without Atlas F1. In the end I realized I couldn't and so subscribed.

I've been reading the forums for years, but for some reason never bothered to post until a year ago or so.
I find the quality of this forum to be the best of all forums I know of, and the general knowledge of people posting seem to be high.
I enjoy arguing and discussing F1 topics and will probably keep posting for a long time (from sunny Italy from now on ;))

Hello all!

Due to the fact that I usually spend most of my forum time on TNF I completely forgot to introduce myself here.

Born in 73, the bug must´ve bitten at a motocross event in 78 which I attended with my father while on holiday in France. I´ve been a motor racing nutter ever since...
In Formula One, many of the teams that attracted me when I was younger, have sadly fallen by the wayside - hard to believe that only Williams, McLaren, and Ferrari (well, and Renault, after their comeback) are still there...(go back to TNF, I hear you say;))

Anyway, today I live and work as a musician in Frankfurt/Germany.

And most importantly:

Hello! I´m looking forward to interesting and enlightening discussions with all of you!!! wave.gif

Shadow Mike
Hi!

I'm Mike, 20 years old, live in St. Petersburg, Russia.

I've been watching Formula 1 regularly since 1998, I watched before occasionally, I remember when I was a child my heart began pounding everytime I saw F1 cars on TV, I also happened to see Senna's final crash in Imola'94, that was terrible.

My favourite driver is Kimi Raikkonen, I supported Mika before his leaving F1, my favourite team was McLaren and it still remains I guess, I feel strange supporting the Ferrari driver because I never liked Ferrari.

My others activities include computer programming, music and cinema, although I'm neither a musician nor a film director.

clap.gif Hello all! Finaly able to register on this forum that ive been browsing through for some time.

I live in the UK and have been into F1 for as long as i can remember, mid 80's i guess, though im sure i recall seeing bits about niki lauda and james hunt on TV even though i would have only been about 5 or 6 years old confused.gif

Big mansell fan back in the days, went to spa in 1990 ( frown.gif ) and more recently we were sat on the exit of the maggots-becketts-chapel section (top of hangar straight lets say!) for the british GP this year. Fantastic day.

Been to a few other events, notably the ferrari day at donnington a year or two ago, and a DTM race at donnington (steve soper days?) and spent a lot of time at cadwell during lunch breaks in a former job watching track days and the like.....

Anyway thats all for now i think lol.gif

Hi I am Andy and I live in Oxfordshire, Big F1 fan and have been, well since I can remember to be honest. I have always been a Ferrari fan (apart from the Jordan years) until this year and I think there is more to the Stepney-gate than they are letting on.

Hi Guys. wave.gif
I managed to register at last a couple of weeks ago – but only just found this thread.

I have no idea why I got into F1-none of my family were into it- but I have been a fan since 1969 when I was 9yrs old.
As a young girl at boarding school – I got myself into all sorts of trouble for listening to the Japanese GP on a radio hidden under my pillow when Hunt won the WDC in 76. Waking the whole dorm early in the morning when James crossed the line securing the title, secured me hours of sitting in the school hall facing the wall reflecting on my misdemeanour and general badness.

Over the years I have supported many teams and drivers, although I must admit to being a “non Ferrari” fan, which is my only constant as far as F1 goes.
I try to go to as many GPs as my bank balance allows – which is not nearly enough.

F1 is my passion, and my dream is to win the lottery and follow the F1 circus around the world for the whole of a season – taking in every race and holidaying between each race.
Dreaming is free eh!

Hi Everybody,

I’ve been an Autosport reader for longer than I care to remember and Autosport.com must be my most visited site. Thought about joining the Forum for a while and, now that I have, I suppose I’ll be spending even longer on this one-eyed monster of a PC. Should probably have done it earlier this year, as there’s been such a lot to talk about. It’s also been a good and varied year of events for me, with Monaco, Le Mans, Goodwood FoS, Zolder ChampCar and Race of Champions to come.

I’m interested in all things four-wheeled motorsport, but have to admit to a slight bias towards those who race under the blue and white of the Saltire. It’s been a good year for some of them too, but overshadowed by the tragic loss of Colin McRae.

The show will go on, so roll on tomorrow for even more to talk about!

wave.gif Hi there everyone.

Just introducing myself here, totally disillusioned with the dreadful ITV F1 forum thought I'd try my luck here and so far I'm liking what I'm seeing.

I've been an F1 fanatic since my dad took me to my first British GP - it was 1967, I was 12 and Jim Clark won!
Favourite drivers have been Nelson Piquet (Snr), Ayrton Senna (of course!) and Rubens Barrichello simply because he's an amazingly nice bloke and could have had a far more successful career if he hadn't spent so many years helping MS build his championships! - hope we don't see Massa going down the same route. Currently liking Lewis - but I admire all the drivers and the mechanics. Can't be doing with all the politics, the machinations and the proliferation of rules and regulations. I like to see a good risk-taking, in it to win it, no holds barred RACE.

Dunc
Hi all, my name's Dunc and I've been reading Autosport since 1995, when I was 12-years-old. I love F1 and am delighted to see it roaring back to life after years of mediocrity.

I'm particularly curios as to whether anyone employed in F1 media ever posts on this site. I'm currently a journalism postgrad student and a career in F1 or motorsport journalism/PR would be my genuinely ideal job. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be extremely appreciative!
Alloyd
Hi I've been lurking here for some months and watching F1 for a long time, favourite moment: being there when the 160mph lap happened at Silverstone.

Now all the end of season kerfuffle seems to have died down I feel I might risk some posts. I'm mainly interested in performance of drivers and cars and less so the politics (although just recently I admit to more than a passing interest in the many human stories that have been debated smile.gif )

Cheers
