Hi,
I'm a 20 year old student journalist, hoping to become a motorsports commentator/photographer/reporter in the near future!!
Been watching F1 since before I can remember, my dad tells me I was watching in 1994 or 1995, but the earliest I can remember I think is Panis winning in Monaco 1996.

Greetings: Began the "Enthrallment", also known as the "Possession" in 1959 with images and articles in Road & Track. I can still remember being stunned by a cutaway drawing of a Tipo 61 Maserati in Sports Car Graphic. I did my senior English paper on the 1962 season....needed to be, maybe, 12 pages came in at a rushed 32. I know my teacher must have figured I copied 90%+ out of some magazine. (Had a chance to read the first few pages a couple of years ago...strange how captivated you can be at that age.) Also, back then a friend and I use to wait sometimes...months...to find out who won what. And, here is how long ago that was....I ordered a 45 rpm record of racing sounds from Le Mans...back when the straight was 8 miles +, and I'd sit in my room and imagine being there. So, now I'm and old guy....................with the same love affair. hjR

hi to all forum members¡¡¡
i´ve been reading you for so long, now I join to this club.
my first memories in F1 are senna-prost-mansell. So I have some good feelings from williams, and i had from Mc´s aswell. But this year´s issues have made me to see them as the "Dark side of the force" :\
I enjoy F1. I like kimi, alonso, button, ...

not just as drivers but personal behaviour too.
... don´t talk me about LH and RS.
excuse me for my (poor) english

Hi all,
My name is Gorka and I'm a young spanish tifoso. I began watching F1 some years ago because of a red car with a driver with a white/blue helmet driving it. Later on, when I grew up, I startet to feel all the magic of Ferrari together with Michael Schumacher. Now, I continue to read books about F1, Ferrari, Schumacher and technical ones as my aim is to become a motorsport engineer.
I have also attended two GP's during my life. The first experience was Imola 2006 where Schumacher won incredibly. The second one was some months ago in the GP of Spa-Francorchamps where Ferrari finished 1-2 and Kimi won for the 3 time in a row there.
I hope that I stay here for long as it looks like its a great community.
Ciao

Hi all. I am a Ferrari fan from India. I started watchin F1 from the years when Michael n Mika were fightin for the championship. First i was not that much interested in the sport but it was interesting. Then slowly i fell in love with Ferrari and Schumi. First m a Ferrari fan n then of Schumi. Now obviously i like Kimi n Massa.
I am a B.E-Aero Engineer. I'll be starting my M.S-Aerospace Engineering this fall. Hope to learn a lot about the history of F1 and its Greats. Have fun all.
hi all,
my name is marc and i'm 16 years old coming from germany. my english is not exactly the best, but i think it should be fine.
i started watching f1 in 1997. i've always been a micheal schumacher fan. now that he has retired i support bmw and nick heidfeld in particular. obviously i'm into f1 but also into motorsports in general.
i attended the german gp in hockenheim in 2006 as well as the brilliant european grand prix at the nurburgring in 2007 sitting on the turn 1 grandstand.
it seems to be a cool board here so i decided to join.

Hi everyone.
I'm a Williams fan and have been for many many years. I've been reading Atlas/Autosport for the last few years and finally decided to join. I'm not a big supporter of any one driver, but have a soft spot for Nico and Nando.
I'm really looking forward to the upcoming season as there are so many interesting stories ready to unfold. Truth be told this past year really made me question my love for the sport, but I am still here and ready to forget the 2007 season.
I hope I can ad some value to this forum. By no means am i an expert but I know a thing or two and can share some great memories from the past.
Norm.

Hearty welcome to ImomrtaL, Marcg and Norm, looking forward to your contribution to the best forum about the sport. The diverse opinions and heated but civilized debate keeps the discussion interesting.
Good luck to Force India, best wishes to german drivers who aspire to carry Schumacher's mantle of glory and best to Williams, may they achieve in the upcoming season the success they enjoyed not long ago.
Hi, I started a thread in the wrong place as I hadn't found this thread, oops and sorry about that then
My name is Lyria, I'm a woman and I love f1. I supported Jacques Villeneuve and still do only he's now gone to NASCAR and I can't follow that. So I would now class myself as a Fernando Alonso fan.
So that's me, I'll have to get used to this new place and hopefully make friends here as well.
Sorry again for my bad start here.

Hi Lyria,
What a wonderful name, Lyria.
Reminds me of an angel floating on a cloud.
Don't worry about the misplacement of threads. It happens all the time
Nice to see a JV fan too but my question is...
You said you can't follow NASCAR. Is that because you hate roundy round or you don't have *SKY Sports on your telly?
Also don't understand the leap from Jacques to Fernando...might you explain for us?
All the best Lyria
Jp
* I said SKY Sports because you seem English in your writing.
Welcome Lyria
jonpollak - don't understand the leap from Jacques to Fernando...
I can understand it!
Can't explain it though.

Good guess, I am English and thanks for the nice welcomes
I don't have sky tv, spot on ;) but I do keep up to date with how JV's doing on his own site.
Hmm Villeneuve to Alonso, well it was simple. Once Jacques had gone

I had to look around for another driver who made me want to scream at the tv when he was driving and enjoy his racing, someone with passion and so on and who gave me the old tingle up the spine when he made certain moves. I liked Kimi a lot but Fernando just has the edge for me. Can't explain it more than that, it's just a feeling.

Hi everyone or anyone who want's to read this!
My name's Alex, I'm in my late twenties and I'm from Cambridge.
My interest in motor sport began when watching the French and British GPs in 1988. Been hooked ever since.
For the most part been a single seater fan, but had a "dabble" with super touring back in the mid 90's. You know, all the manufacturers were pouring in... It was mental!
Largley more interested in the human aspect of motor racing, love to see grit and determination or an underdog having his day etc.
My biggest fever moments of the last 20 years
Berger in a Ferrari at Hockenheim '88. (no particular reason, it just captured my imagination at an impressionalbe age)
Mansell and Senna at Monaco '92
Hill, Mansell, Schumacher at Suzuka '94
Hakkinen and Schumacher at Spa 2000
Schumacher at Interlagos 2006
Look forward to talking to you all

Hello Sharkye here.
I'm an f1 fan for quit some years now, sometimes a bit more fanatic sometimes a bit less. Have been following it in the 80's (fell in love with the black JPS lotus cars

). In the early nineties I was more into bike racing and at the end of that periode I started to attend f1 races and I became an f1 addict again. At this moment i'm a bit less fanatical but still can't stop watching and talking about it. Apart from f1, i follow MotoGP and offcourse the LeMans 24 hours.
I'm not a fan off one team or driver, allthough i 'like' one more than the other. I'm first and all race fan, that is I like to see battles. And that is why i am a little less a follower of f1 these days, sometimes the races get so boring.... haha but i still keep hoping. So this year with driver aids gone, i am hoping again.
Apart from that all I like talking about f1 and racing, but jee i hope i can keep up with you guys.... i saw how much posting is going on here

.
Anyway anything else you need to know about me.... I'm female, i am dutch (unfortunatly no dutch team anymore, i was - off cours - a big supportor of Spyker)

Hi.
I've been a motorsport fan (gold anorak level) all of my life. My first F1 race was the '72 Oulton Gold Cup. I don't have a particular favourite team or driver (I like them all) but there are a few individuals I'm not particularly fond of.
I take people as I find them and enjoy a good laugh, so I'm looking forward to having some good-natured banter with some of you. I've been on a couple of non-F1 message boards before but I'm not sure how the software works on this one. It doesn't seem too, er, complicated, so please bear with me while I work it out.
Thanks,
FFC

Okay, let me introduce myself!
A Dutchwoman, 38 years old, living in Belgium.
The first thing I remember about racing is Lauda's accident being the talk of the day in 1976. I was 6, and quite horrified- and things that scare us as kids have a funny way of turning into a fascination later on.
So I was quite the little fangirl troughout the 80's, and I pestered my mom into letting me see the last Dutch GP at Zandvoort in 1985.
I sort of hibernated trough the Schumacher years- nothing against the man, but I found his riegn insanely boring. Last year I tuned back in and I was not dissapointed! I even got to watch the testing at Spa last summer- it was amazing.
For the rest I'm not really a fan of anybody in particular- May the best man win!

Mar 22 2008, 15:13
Yes Spa is something to behold. It's a lovely area too, the Ardennes- about 1,5 hour from where I live. It's the money that is holding me from going to the GP- the prices they ask are just crazy, and you get a better view on TV. But on the other hand- the atmosphere...
Anyway, the jury is still out!

Hi all. I've been participating for a bit but just want to make it official. I started out mostly on the Tech forum, as I am a tech junkie. As far as my background I would say I am a NASCAR fan first, and then pretty much any other form of 4-wheel racing, the faster and closer the quarters, the better. I love to find topics that transcend one particular discipline, such as JPM's switch to NASCAR, Jeff Gordon's ride along with Marcus Gronholm, etc. I also love researching the history of F1, stuff like the fan car and the tyrell six-wheeler.
I attended a 3-day Skip Barber racing school program at VIR a few years ago and loved it, so I am familiar with what it's like to pilot an open cockpit car at speeds up to 115 MPH. My bank account doesn't support any further experiences like that, though I do mildly tune the suspension of my street car, a 2000 Camry V6, with stiffer sway bar bushings, stiffer shocks, and stiffer motor mounts, and I like to push the limits on highway ramps.
The only other sport I follow closely is American football. I am from the Washington, DC area so I back the Redskins. I don't generally hold any animosity towards other teams, such as the Cowboys. I just support.
My favorite drivers in NASCAR are Juan Pablo Montoya, Patrick Carpentier, and Tony Stewart. I do at times have some animosity towards some drivers--right now I think that Kevin Harvick and Ryan Newman are a couple of the biggest punks that are allowed to drive in that series.
I run an IT consultancy in Maryland and I try to keep the personal and the business stuff separate, and I consider this forum to be on the personal side, since the discussion can get quite jocular at times.
Looking forward to enjoying and contributing.

F1 fan in Chicago here. C'mon there must be some F1 fans in this town?
Been reading forums for a while, recently started to post occasionally. Trying to contribute when I can, but usually the quality of discussions and knowledge of posters here is pretty good and my commentary would just be redundant.
Made it to every Indy USGP, guess not again for a while. A couple were pretty crappy...
Saw Villeneuve and Montoya win in Brasil, what a great place to see a race. Never seen a race outside the Americas - someday Spa and Monte Carlo (thats one race my wife would attend!)
